His cuisine focuses on all natural cooking, with fresh fishes, meats, fruits, vegetables and aromatic herbs
Jean Carlo is the quintessential Italian waiter. Treated us like royalty
And the food was outstanding
Wonderful experience of lunch with a long-time friend. Good food, good service, good ambience!
The bread in the basket was dry (leftover from yesterday?). I had chicken parmesan over spaghetti. The pasta which wasn't under sauce was also dry (also appeared to be from the previous day). The marinara sauce for the chicken parmesan was bland and tasted watered down - Ragu sauce would have been an improvement. We won't be going back there anytime soon.
Our pre-show, 2-course, Prix fix dinners we're interesting (rack of lamb with shrimp in tasty sauce), very well-liked, and good value. Plus, the servers were very nice personable as well as professional and prompt.
Claimed to not have our reservation. Seated us but right by the door. Crowded with bus tour. Food was just okay. Service was absolutely terrible.
Pre-matinee. They had several large groups, so our salads looked and tasted thrown together. Not as good as previous times. Cappuccino was delicious, though.
We loved eating outside and hearing the waterfall. Easy parking. Very good service. The four of us all enjoyed our food. Excellent salmon piccata and salads. We will return many times.
Pefect pre show dinner venue. Nice menu and friendly service.
Had eaten at previous location and when this space was The Dressing Room.
Chose to sit at the bar which was very positive decision and allowed for a more personal
All the food was beautifully prepared. The burrata wonderfully milky, the gazpacho with a splash of lovely basil oil and a special request chicken pizziola (usually veal) filled with fresh and savory ingredients.
Bartender was charming and attentive without being intrusive.
We had a wonderful experience.
Lovely place - service was a bit confusing though. Open table advised us to make a reservation 2 hours before the show at the Westport country playhouse so we did. We barely sat down and We were asked for our drink order - I seriously hadn’t even settled in my chair. I was there two hours before the show! My husband ordered a veal dish that included shrimp. Meal came and no shrimp. I questioned it so they apologized and brought a bowl of shrimp. The waiter literally took my husbands fork out of his hand and proceeded to move the shrimp onto his plate. It was so odd. The waiter seemed mature and experienced but he was so strange. It was a nice place but I wouldn’t go back - everyone was just too odd and I do like odd and different things, but this wasn’t in a charming way.
We enjoyed our food immensely.
All 4 of us had something different and each was great. The service was great, very accommodating.
The owner recommended a very nice wine we all enjoyed. If you want real Italian food this is the place!
Food was very overpriced and not good.
We enjoyed lunch before the show at the Westport country Playhouse. Service and food were excellent.
Service was below the standard we expected from past visits. My entree was incorrect.
Must go to place when seeing a show.
Outside seating must be great now.
Made to feel welcomed and comfortable. Service is not rushed and food outstanding while made theater very comfortable time wise. Also serves half price cocktails after the theater performance.
Incredibly disappointing experience on Mother’s Day. Limited price fix menu at an inflated price. Mediocre food at best, inattentive service, dirty restaurant, disgusting restrooms and a buffet option that had selections that had obviously been sitting for hours. Truly shocking that this establishment has survived in Westport for as long as it has.
Mother’s Day. Gian Carlo was a fantastic waiter
I took the family for Mother’s Day. Hard to imaging it being worse. Prices had been raised, food quantity very uneven and the place was freezing. Don’t understand how it gets good reviews based on my experience
While the food was good, it took 30 min for someone to come and take our order and then another 25 min to receive our food. Insane!
Good traditional Italian. Nothing out of the ordinary. Service was pleasant but slow on a busy night. It was fine, but nothing to write home about.
Great location if you’re going to the Playhouse since it’s right next door. Food was average but expensive. What the online menu said was not the price when we got there. Wine was $12/glass for house wine! Our order was mixed up, shrimp on the wrong salad. I would definitely go back for conscience if I was going to the Playhouse but there are so many other places to go I’m the area that I wouldn’t go there just for lunch or dinner.
Good food and service. Perfect before or after theatre. They got us out on time without rushing us.
The environment was very pleasant.
The main reason to go here is the location. If you are attending the Westport Playhouse, there is just nothing better than to park in the best spots, poised for flight after the show gets out, and a 30 second walk from the theater.
The food is adequate to good, but the service, at least the night we were there, was mediocre. I sat alone, ignored at a table for almost 10 minutes before anyone approached to ask me if I wanted a drink. I finally just went to the bar and got myself one and took it back to the table. We had THREE different waiters over the course of the hour plus we were in the restaurant. It wasn't all that busy either...
Another time we ate there, last summer, it was nicer, and we sat outside and the service was fine so might just have been a bad night. I guess the lesson is just allow plenty of time.
I became sick the night after eating salmon in cream sauce
Fuimos la familia el domingo de Pascua había un bufete q la verdad deja mucho q decir , la calidad de la comida muy baja en casa varios de la familia sintieron dolores de estómago luego de comer. El servicio y los mesoneros muy amables .
We went to Positano for Easter brunch. The Italian brunch menu was great and everything was outstanding. It was a little pricey but worth it.
Great location for a business lunch
Huge portions of delicious food. Orchiette with Brocolli Rabe and Sausage and Veal delicious and beautifully presented. Each were enough to bring home for a second dinner. Fried Calamari excellent, if a little salty!
Staff was very attentive and professional. Drinks were good. Highly recommend.
Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants! I recommend to everyone!
Our group of 6 enjoyed chicken and fish dinners plus soup & salad. Good value! JohnCarlo provides excellent service.
really love this place. the service is great, the food is great and the atmosphere wonderful.
the only thing i would mention to the restaurant is that the bread basket was obviously a mix of old reheated bread and fresh bread.....the old bread should just not be reserved.
A great place for a casual Italian dinner. Able to get a reservation on short notice. Food was well prepared and reasonably priced. Service was outstanding--they make you feel like family.
Well-hidden gem. The food was excellent and the service superb. Not sure why I've never been here before, but I will definitely go back again.
Positano is always a winner. Delicious food and a staff that ensures your experience will be great.
Giancarlo was amazing! Best service we’ve had in awhile! We’ll be back!
This place is a hidden gem tucked behind the Westport Playhouse.
Good food! Meal portions were good. Appetizer portions were small. Chef came to tables to introduce himself and ask about everyone’s meal.Overall good experience. Will definitely be back.
We do not often give 5 stars but on Valentines Day Positano’s earned five! 4 course dinner was outstanding...veal chop blew me away. Service is 6 stars sorry we only have 5. Keep it up we will be back!!! Could be the best Hostess/Sommelier ever. Period.
Great old school Italian cuisine in the best sense.
