On this, The restaurants original site, Doyles on the Beach opened Australia's first seafood restaurant in 1885. We have been family owned and operated for over 5 generations.

The restaurant internationally famous and a mecca for Sydneysiders and tourists alike, offering a stunning range of fresh seafood for lunch and dinner, 7 days a week.

Excellent food with fantastic views across Watson’s Bay. There was a mix up during ordering and only one of our two starters arrived. After being reassured that the second starter would arrive shortly we had to chase again. This resulted in us being unable to eat our starters together. The mains arrived with no further problems and the food was terrific if pricey, for what is only fish and chips at the end of the day. We will visit again but for special occasions only.

Service from order to presentation was impeccable. Food was delicious, fresh and delightfully tantalising. The overall experience was wonderful. A great way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon lunch, great food, great atmosphere with great company

A really great restaurant, but hampered by being virtually impossible to get to by public transport
It took us nearly two hours to get there from Circular Quay, and required the use of two buses and a taxi (the alleged Watson's Bay bus offloaded us about 4 km short of the terminus and left us to find the rest of the way for ourselves)
Don't rely on the Sydney buses!

So so expensive. For what you get it just wasn't worth it in my opinion. The fish was lovely, I cant deny that. However the chips were nothing better than frozen chips and the price astronomical.

We were a bit concerned when we found out the usual ferry was not running to Watson's Bay at night any longer. Eventually found out another company was doing that run but could not return us to Circular Quay after 7.30 so had to get an Uber.
However the view and the food were worth the trip.

The view and ambience is fantastic however I was a little disappointed with the main meals and from a price point felt the value was not really there. We spent $500 excluding tip for 4 adults and only shared one bottle of 1.5 bottles wine between us. Whilst the majority of the food was delicious especially the starts the mains were disappointing. 2 of us had the catch of the day "fish an chip" style which should be there specialty and it was not seasoned at all. The service was a little slow albeit friendly. I had told them I had a special guest form overseas and they accommodated with a great table so certainly some things I Just feel maybe the kitchen had an off night.

The service was slow. Yes large portions of poorly cooked food. My John Dory was overcooked, and very

expensive. I take guests from overseas to Doyles, explaining that the food is of very poor quality, but it is

a wonderful view of the harbour and sunset. Doyles have served poor food for many years, however in the

old days at least one could get an excellent grilled flounder, or royal red prawns. Please improve, you are

lucky enough to have your restaurant in one of the most beautiful spots in the world.

Friends from the US and AUS all recommended that we eat dinner at the legendary Doyle's and we enjoyed it so much! We got a window table on a Friday evening where we watched the golden sunset beyond the Harbour Bridge as a cruise ship sailed out and a storm rolled in. Our server was darling and the food was traditional/delicious. Menu is predominantly seafood specialties. Good for dates, special occasions and groups. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. My recommendation would be on the upper level balcony.

FISH WAS MAGNIFICENT, CHIPS WERE INEDIBLE, (FROZEN AND DRY), SOFT DRINK WAS FLAT, WINE EXPENSIVE. WORTH GOING, BUT WHY NOT IMPROVE THE CHIPS, BEEN CONSISTENTLY BAD FOR YEARS.

Doyles came highly recommended as a “not to miss” and did not disappoint. We took the ferry from Circular Quay, sat outside with a terrific view back to Sydney. Food was great. Salad for me, tuna for my husband. Dessert of chocolate creme brûlée was the best!

A lovely spot IF you get an outside table ( we had booked, and did get one). House wine is very average. Although the food was good, it is very hard to justify $50 for fish and chips, or a fish pie.

First visited in 1990 - thought it was worth a return and wasn’t disappointed- had a table at the front with my son and his girlfriend and they were very impressed 😁They live in Sydney and will obviously recommend this experience

My first experience of Doyle's was way back in 1975. I was re-acquainted with the place in the early 90s and I have been going there perhaps once a year since then. Not all that often, I know, however, I live three hours distant from Sydney.

Great food, great atmosphere and great service. Its such a lovely place to dine with friends. I hope it always remains that way.

Lucky to get a beachfront table as I had only booked 3 hours earlier. The fish and chips was a generous serve but the seafood pie did not have a lot of filling. Only fault was that we did not get our garlic bread but that quickly came when we mentioned it. Waitress was very attentive, great service and we had a really lovely day

We enjoyed our special birthday treat at your restaurant. We appreciated the table allocated, right at the edge of the beach. Your waiting staff were attentive, friendly, interested in our experience. They were able to provide appropriate advice to assist with ordering to suit our tastes, including wine. After ordering, we realised that there was a specials menu separately located at the table. Fortunately, we were not tempted by this, as we had already ordered! The food was well prepared and served. The wines we chose suited both the meal and our palates. On the negative side, we would like to have had a larger selection of wines by the glass, as sharing a bottle between two people for a lunch time meal would have given us more wine than we wanted to drink. And the other negative was our arrival greeting, or rather lack thereof. We had booked a table and had received confirmation. We arrived exactly on time. We stood for several minutes at what we thought was the entrance to the restaurant, only to be ignored by several busy staff. Finally, we interrupted one person and asked for help in finding the table we had booked. He told us he would go and find a host. When he eventually returned it was to tell us that you were all very busy and we would have to leave the entrance and wait at the designated sign post, outside the restaurant, in the street. Rather surprised, we obeyed, waited several more minutes, watched as a couple of other customers were attended to and finally were shown to our table. Once we were seated, everything changed and staff found plenty of time for us. This experience rather spoilt the beginning of the meal, as we did feel that we were in the way and not really wanted, as everyone was too busy to help us. Fortunately, this approach did not continue. However, it would be good if you could find a way to ensure that people who were arriving at your restaurant felt immediately welcome, even when staff are very busy.

Food and service could not be faulted. We found the serving sizes so generous we could easily have shared entrees and mains. Had no room left for dessert. The restaurant and rest rooms were clean.

Why book online when your still have to call to confirm the booking? Food and service really gone down hill but prices remain high. It's a shame to see an old institution on it's way out.

I have been going to Doyles at Watsons Bay for 68 years! It never fails to please, although I was disappointed to see prawn cutlets removed from the menu. Unique. Also the tartare sauce has changed and so has the seafood sauce. Thankfully the plum sauce is still available. Bring those back please. They were Alice’s recipe and were superb.

Fantastic view of downtown Sydney from across the bay. Amazing Australian paella with a wine list to match.
Tip: take the water taxi at Rose Bay to Watsons Bay right at sunset. Doyles will be right in front of the pier.

Went to Doyle's on the Beach to celebrate a special birthday. The bookings were made easily and very prompt. The service by the waiters was excellent, very prompt and polite. The food was excellent and had great seating. Would reccomend this restaurant to everyone wanting a special moment.

We have eaten at Doyles on numerous occasions and always have the seafood platter. This time it was very disappointing, the presentation was not to the usual high standard and lobster and prawns were tasteless. Even the fish fillets were soft, had a strong taste and the batter was not light and crispy like it is normally. Very disappointing!
