Nobu started as a business partnership in 1994 between chef Nobu Matsuhisa, his partners actor Robert De Niro, producer Meir Teper and managing partner Richie Notar. With the original restaurant in New York, the Nobu brand is now currently established in many locations around the world including London, Tokyo, Las Vegas, Milan, Hong Kong and Waikiki.
Nobu restaurants continue with unprecedented praise and rave reviews from such notable publications as the New York Times, the Zagat Surveys, and the Michelin Guide. The restaurants’ perennial popularity and devoted following are a tribute to Nobu putting his own personal spin on traditional Japanese cooking.

My dining experience on Sunday 11th November was one of absolute delight having enjoyed a meal served with great presentation, brilliant service by the waiters/es and the food was exceptional well beyond my expectations. All of this was within a relaxed and warm and fuzzy atmosphere.
As soon as we arrived at Nobu the staff accommodated us and made us feel welcome. The level of service provided by the wait staff was of a very high standard and our waiter was very helpful in providing recommendations. Every meal dished up was delicious, some of the best food that any of us had ever had. We couldn't have been happier with the experience we had at Nobu and we cannot wait to go back
We were very excited to try Nobu for the first time, we were visiting Melbourne for our birthdays.
I chose the deluxe bento and was so surprised that the item I was least excited about being in the bento ended up being a favorite! Unfortunately the vege bento my friend ordered was underwhelming.
We both agreed the jalapeno dressing was outstanding and I would return to try other menu items after trying the deluxe bento.
We both enjoyed the people watching, the vibe and the extensive drinks list.
It’s in a great spot in Melbourne and we booked in days in advance thankfully as there were a lot of people being turned away as it was very busy due to cup week.
We have been going to Nobu as one of our favourites spots for many years now. Although the food is second to none, we have found over time that the service has declined. We hope Nobu get back to their previous high quality service to fit with their food and venue.
Enjoyed our time overall. Was disappointed with the normally wonderful black Cod. Service was difficult to understand (language) and pushy.
Enjoyed a great night with my three sons ....except at the end when after I paid the bill, I was asked at the exit door to hold on from leaving by an overzealous manager who thought I was trying to leave without paying.
That was embarassing and insulting.
Especially in front of other patrons.
Apologies were then made but it was not good at the time.. they should have been aware I paid.
Perhaps a fee dinner is more in order..!!’
The service was exceptional, adding a little extra to make my anniversary special was a lovely touch.
Good food and not bad value for an 8 course degustation, but not as good as Nobu in the US
Always love the food and the service. Unfortunately the background music was too loud which made it difficult to hear the wait staff and to carry on a conversation at the table. Although they were quite well behaved, I don’t believe it is an appropriate venue for small children. There were at least 2 large groups with small children which marred the experience somewhat.
We had an amazing night at Nobu - great food, great drinks, and an amazing waiter who selected some of the restaurant's finest dishes for us, including the famous miso black cod. A wonderful evening and would definitely return to Nobu in future!
Fantastic taste and great service
Food was great. Service was poor. Felt like we were in a fast food place with the waiters running around. Had to go looking for a waiter to get attention .
The food was amazing and so well presented. The service was incredibly average. Most reviews I read said it was amazing service so i was looking forward to a special experience. Our waiter seemed very reluctant to explain the menu to us (being our first time) and we spent 20 minutes waiting for the bill and another 15 minutes to pay. Maybe the waiter was just having a rough night, but it really spoilt the whole night.
Extremely expensive, standard fare. Our bill included a hard-to-see service fee of $25.00.
Lunch for 3 was almost $500.00, with no alcohol. Could not recommend for any occasion.
Food, service, atmosphere. All impeccable. A Fantastic night all around. Thank you.
Underwhelming and highly disappointed.
Service poor, requested 2 glasses of Veuve champagne - not poured in front of us, it came out flat and was clearly not Veuve it was a darker colour than champagne we suspect it was the half priced Clover Hill...we sent it back, no apology and Maitre D do not come near us the whole time. Birthday complimentary dessert the standout.
Nobu never disappoints. It's our favourite restaurant by far. Recommend to all! Amazing
Music too loud but the food was phenomenal and the staff were amazing. Worth every cent!
It was our wedding anniversary and the staff who tended our table made us feel extra special.
The phrase “Happy Anniversary” written in chocolate on our desert plate from the kitchen was literally the icing on the cake.
Thank you to our waitress Morgan who was attentive, efficient, friendly and informative.
She and her colleagues made the night.
Very expensive for what it is. Disappointing and would not return. Ambience of a cheaper chain type restaurant for $$ pricing. No problems with high prices when the finesse is there.
Our waitress was very helpful in suggesting dishes.
Awesome venue, food, service, ambience! A little pricey but worth what you get!
The reputation of this restaurant did not disappoint.
Great food and service... noise level too high.
Excellent food and service, only lacking more dessert options. If you are happy with tap water don't fall in the trap of accepting still water offered by the water as soon as you seat, it is a bottle that will set you back $13.50.
My partner and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary at Nobu and the experience was fabulous. The wait staff were fantastic and the food phenomenal. Highly recommended for any occasion. Thank you for spoiling us on our special day.
Cocktails were amazing, as was the food!! Wasn’t too educated in Japanese food but the waiters made it super easy! Really nice atmosphere too :)
Nobu never fails to exceed expectations with its amazing food and ambience. it successfully replicates this around the world.
Nice Bento box with good variety.
Excellent Food, and love the idea of sharing options.
Great food & service once we got a table upstairs. Too noisy & cramped downstairs. Thank you
The ambience and service were faultless.
The Black Cod is a must have along with the cocktails.
We ordered the set menu and found that the other dishes were overrated and overpriced.
Overall it was Ok!
Amazing food presented beautifully. Flavours were the best. Great service. Highly recommend.
Good food and overall nice restaurant.
Edamame, which was quite good; Crispy Pork Belly, which was tasty, but the crackling was crack-a-lacking; Black Cod, which was perfectly cooked, was expecting to have a side or even a small bowl of rice with it, just something to accompany it; 2GR 6+ Wagyu, very tasty, but the beef itself was quite chewy, and not what was expected from Wagyu beef; Passionfruit and Yuzu Chiboust, the ice cream was wonderful, and the fusion of flavours, brilliant; Whisky Cappuccino, the star of the night.
Dissapointing dining experience at Nobu. Felt like we were in a production line, and the goal was to turn as many tables as possible. The food was OK, but nothing particularly memorable - and quite expensive. Wouldn't return.
Average food that is unremarkable and full of sugar. Super overpriced
Was very underwhelmed with Nobu this time, the food was great but the service was terrible. It took 45 min to view a menu and our waiters kept changing. Breaks between courses too long and tasting menu lacked variety.
