It’s been years since my last visit to Il Palio. It was worth the wait. A visit to I; Palio is a total experience. We were greeted enthusiastically by the host. Since we arrived early, we asked to be seated in the bar area for a pre-dinner drink. The bartender came over to our table to say hi and take our drink order. Happy to find one of my favorite Pinot Noirs on the wine list. We requested outdoor seating for dinner, and were given a great table. Our waiter Juan was attentive and friendly, as were all the servers. Crispy artichoke hearts appetizer was light and tasty. My entree was Filet Mignon, hers was Swordfish. Both were absolutely delicious. This restaurant is just a few miles from the house, we’ll be coming here again and again. Highly recommended.
I really enjoyed my eve at this restaurant. A drink at the bar upon arriving was welcoming . The female bartender was warm and friendly. The table for 4 was cozy . Service attentive and did not rush us. Food fresh and delicious
Wanted to try somewhere new and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was nicely decorated with a intimate romantic setting. The Patio was open however we opted to dine inside. The food was amazing, we started with 3 small plates (appetizers) to share. My wife was able to order 1/2 order entrees choosing two different meals allowing her to have variety with her meal. I highly reccomend this establishment for a night out.
Never in our lives have we ever eaten in a place that was SO NOISY. The acoustics are TERRIBLE which made it difficult to talk to the people that you are dining with at your table. It was fully packed and had to put others outside on their patio. It was a very humid day and we had reservations so we decided to]
stay inside. All four of us went home with upset stomachs because of the bad experience. Everyone was
screaming to hear one another. Very bad experience. We eat out at least three times a week and NEVER did we every have this experience at any other restaurant.
The food was good and served very nicely, but that was ruined by the noise. You couldn't even give your order to the waiter or ask for something without yelling so he could hear us.
It was my husband's birthday and a friend's that day, and nothing was even mentioned (like congratulations). I had to put my own candles on his dessert and we sang Happy Birthday to acknowledge their birthdays. Why even write if it is a special occasion when we made the reservations? Nothing was honored by it. Very, very disappointed in the atmosphere. They do have other rooms where they could have split up the guests, but they only put them in the hot sun outside on the porch. They need to fix their acoustics by putting up drapes or absorption tiles on the ceiling or walls.
We visited Il Palio at the recommendation of a friend and were not disappointed. We requested a table outdoors and were promptly seated and served water and a complimentary barley in marinara sauce with buttered wafer crisps that we devoured in seconds. I had the arugula salad with thinly sliced octopus - delightful! Then both Molly and I had the same entrée: the grilled halibut which was just Heavenly. We will be making Il Palio a main go to restaurant whenever we're in the southern Shelton area.
Excellent as always
Beautiful restaurant with outstanding service! The cocktails as well as our dinners were absolutely perfect! We were given plenty of time to decide on our entrees! My husband had the veal and I had a seafood special. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We shared the mango cheesecake for dessert. Yummy!! Great place to celebrate our anniversary. It was our first time here, we will definitely be back!
What a great place for lunch! Their lunch special is such a bargain and DELICIOUS! Our waiter was so attentive and pleasant.....as was the manager !
Dominic, our server greeted us warmly and rattled off the lunch specials which was indiscernible over the din of noise in the dining area. My wife and I ordered from the menu and enjoyed the Salmone alla Senape e Dragoncello con Spinaci e Pomodorini and I the Pollo “Scarpariello” con Conchiglie. Both were wonderfully prepared and presented. Despite the noise from our noisy neighbors, we enjoyed our meal. Highly recommend!, despite the noise.
Great value with super ambiance and food/drinks. Sue tending bar is a gem.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Good service (pleasant and attentive.) Having option of had-sized pasta was a real benefit If we had more we would have taken it home and probably not eaten it.
My family and I went to Il Palio last night for dinner. We started with the 5 small dishes for $25. We ordered the grilled calamari, "best meatballs ever", Mussells Caciucco, Steamed Clams, and Mozzarella (Basil Oil). The apps were very good and freshly prepared.
For dinners we ordered a Risotto special, Linguine con Gamberi, Asparagi e Funghi, Lasagna alla Bolognese Antica, and Pollo "Scarpariello" con Conchiglie. The dinners were very good also and freshly prepared.
The only knock I had on the restaurant was the Lasagna portion was a bit small. After about 5-6 bites, it was gone and leaving me wanting more. Everyone else's dishes were very good sizes.
Overall, I would be back and I do recommend!
First class service, European ambiance and delicious lunch!
Always a well known staple of the Shelton community and surrounding area, it has never disappointed. We didn’t like one of the apps and the waiter happily exchanged it. Otherwise stellar. Service is second to none. Highly recommended
Restaurant was extremely noisy.Could not carry on a conversation without shouting.Service was very slow. In defence of the waiters, the restaurant was very busy.
We eat at Il Palio often. On this visit the food was good as usual however the service was not. We ordered cocktails; within a minute or two of getting the drinks our appetizers arrived. We had to ask for bread which normally comes before the appetizers. We ordered sparkling water and the waiter refilled my glass with tap water - which he corrected once I pointed it out to him. I had the wine list but the waiter never asked me what I would like to order, I had to send the busboy to get the waiter so that I could order the wine. Cliff who is a co-owner of the restaurant and the husband of Chef Margarita was not there or I would have said something to him, because I know he takes great pride in his restaurant. Hopefully our experience was just an anomaly.
As always, the staff was very attentive and the food was excellent. The portion sizes were perfect.
Fantastic as always!!!!
38th wedding anniversary
Amazing place for a nice date night or celebration. Everything you can think of is top notch.
The Restaurant never fails to preform and produce a dinning experience! Eating at the bar makes us feel like it’s all for us. The staff welcoming attentive and so inviting. Saving this as a Special place to celebrate always proves to pass the test. I can still close my eyes and taste my homemade cavitell. Delicious.

Everything was delicious. My husband and I both had specials, his was a fillet and mine was a scallop risotto. Both were just wonderful. The wine selection was great with a large range of bottles starting at like $35, which makes it affordable too. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the "best meatballs ever," which were just average. However, the scallop risotto should have "the best risotto ever" title! Ambiance was nice. It was quiet enough and great for an anniversary date.
Great food and service. Our favorite restaurant. Would recommend it to all who want an upscale dining experience !
Fabulous dinner! Beautiful restaurant. Linguine and shrimp dish was AMAZING. Still waiting on the recipe for the sauce. Service was outstanding. Everyone was super friendly. Will definitely join them for dinner next time I’m in town
The food and service was great. The deserts were even better. We will go again.
Fantastic food, amazing price, beautiful setting. Service was great also.
Enjoyable birthday dinner
BEST PLACE YOU WILL EVER GO!!! It was my birthday and they made it so special !!!! It’s going to be my moms and mine new restaurant to go too!!
Great food!!& can’t wsit to go back! Our dinners were excellent!
We had a delightful dinner celebrating my wife's 80th birthday.
Terrific!! Highly recommend the food and service. Price was very reasonable for the meal. Sat outside on the patio which was lovely.
As with past experiences at Il Palio we were not disappointed in the food or service. We both had steak which was perfectly prepared and served. The only downside to our evening was the noise level from one party of "gentlemen" seated a few tables away.
Food was good. Dining area a bit cramped. Portion sizes were small.
Good food. So-so service this time. This has been a favorite restaurant of ours for some time but it seems to have lost a step, except for the fact t hat the food continues to shine. The place is excruciatingly loud, however
I would like them to dampen the sound a bit but otherwise excellent
It was an excellent evening from the cosmo at the bar to the amazing food, ambience, and service.
Everything was very good!! Thanks for a great dinner and evening.
An awesome value for a $12.95 lunch: delicious and creative soup or salad., delicious entree and mouth watering gelato Service was good. Very noisy.
Never disappointed by Il Palio. Great ambience, nice wine list, wonderful menu.
Slow service. But great food and ambience
Cute and friendly hostess!
