Dos Caminos - Times Square
I’ve been going to Dos Caminos for years and have been to most of their locations in NYC. The Times Square location was very loud, the food prices were higher than the other locations and the drinks were weaker. This place is for tourists only.
It was disappointing to have a lot of fat in the carne asada tacos. However, the worst was never being offered a refill of my water or soda. Seemed like the customer service level wasn't a concern.
The food was great for the price, not really authentic Mexican food tho, but def catered to all audience. Would recommend for date nights, or casual dining alike.
Nice enough local however they don't offer the happy hour at the tables, when you do get a table service was good when you got it but took over 30 minutes to order...not the best situation if you're coming off a long work day and skipped lunch
Great food and ambience. The only downfall was we had a 5:00 reservation and had to check in twice, once upstairs and once downstairs, which took awhile downstairs. The bar was super crowded with people waiting for the dining room to open. If they have such a big crowd waiting it seems they should open the dining room a bit earlier!
I have visited all three locations for Dos Caminos, your SoHo, Chelsea areas. These two are the best, the one in Times Square is primarily for the tourist crowd on Times Square. We found this location too loud, but it fits the area.
I would recommend to a friend the 1st two locations mentioned, with high recommendation to the SoHo location on West Broadway,
Las mejores margaritas y tacos que he probado. El local de time Square es en un subterráneo lo cual te da algo de miedo. Comida y atención excelente
The waiter was amazing. Don't remember his name but very enthusiastic!!!!
We had a mostly enjoyable experience. We were bounced around from up to downstairs and back again because our reservation table wasn't ready yet. But once sat our experience was great. Great food, service and drinks.
Great food and mojitos. Service can be improved though.
Went there for pre-dinner theater. Food was good. Guacamole particularly well made. Only relatively minor issue is table was a little small to hold the food we ordered, and felt cramped. But, we will definitely add this as a "go to" place when we are in Manhattan, particularly in the theater district.
Waitress was slightly inattentive. Food is great but overpriced.
The drinks were great but pricey...not unexpected for NYC. The service was awesome. I would definitely go back for the food and the service. We loved the lounge area but it was so loud we couldn't hear one another very well to carry on a good conversation.
My husband had the seared tuna and loved it. The guacamole was tasty. I am a baby when it comes to hot food, so the waiter (very helpful and attentive) helped me pick something out - shrimp quesadilla- which I found didn’t have a lot of flavor. It was so noisy I couldn’t hear myself think, but I’m aged, so there’s that.
Second time there. From Canada when we visit NYC we enjoy eating at various places. We stumbled last time we where in NYC at DOS CAMINOS and we really enjoyed it. Therefore we had to go back a second time!!! Was delicious !!!!
Another astounding experience! The new Machado breakfast tacos are delicious! Brought a group of six and everyone loved the food. Guillermo is the BEST server ever! Highly recommended!
Great food! Great atmosphere! The wait staff was very attentive and helpful
Delicious food and good service. Great location right on Times Square
The chicken was quite gamey.
The food was ok, but the prices were very high. It was very noisy! It was fine, but I wouldn't rush back again.
Went with friend visiting NYC! Very yummy Nachos , Guac & salad! But the best was the pitcher of white Sangria!
The guacamole and chips... I couldn't get enough! The guac is so fresh and delicious-- the best I have had anywhere-- and mmmmmm, the queso fundido! The tequila cocktail menu was intriguing with unique flavour combinations. I look forward to going back to Dos Caminos next time I find myself in NYC.
excellent all around food and service. got us out on time for our show
The waiter did not write down our order and so he gave us the food with things a specifically did not want on my food. Waiters did not know what the table numbers were, so they were seen running around from table to table looking for the people who ordered their food. They did not explain certain tings came in the order, like sour cream, until I returned and received my food twice. I ended up not eating all of it and I hate wasting money on food I cannot eat. He said its a Mexican kind of sour cream thats sweeter but I still don't eat milk. It was all around annoying to be there. And it took forever for our waiter to come to us and for us to get our food.
Good food. Good service. Cool atmosphere. Always a good time when we come to the city
Service not good, should have better waiters, there was a sound of an alarm in the building and it seems they did not care about it, we asked for drinks they brought it incorrectly
Pre-Broadway dinner with 2 of my daughters before going to see Mean Girls. Staff was great! They knew we had theatre tickets and got us out quick with amazing service! We will definitely be going back. Food was amazing!
This was our first time dining at Dos Caminos. We went in for the Restaurant Week menu, but there were other things that looked so good, we had to order from the regular menu instead. I had the shrimp and saffron rice with rice and beans on the side, while my boyfriend had the sizzling chicken fajitas. We also split nachos and we enjoyed the ice cream sundae for dessert, all of which was fantastic. But the nachos and the dessert get my highest praise-- both were absolutely delicious! I also loved the patient server who recommended dishes and answered all our questions, and the fact that we could have a conversation without shouting over the music. All in all, I would recommend this place and visit again in the future!
I genuinely wish I could give a zero but sadly that isn’t an option.
The time square location was disappointing. I ordered naked baja and surf tacos which I had at their Park Ave. location. When the food came I thought my plate was a side dish and there would be another dish to come because there was barely anything there. Unlike the dish at the other location, there were only a few small pieces of beef and 2 or 3 tiny shrimp. You needed a magnifying glass to find the beef and shrimp. This was a $25 dish for some lettuce and organic grains. The server never came to check on our meal and we were trying to make a show so I had to eat what I was given. Unfortunately, my daughter ordered based on my recommendation and we both left VERY hungry. Paid a lot of money for very little food. I would not eat at this location again but I would go back to their Park Avenue location which was much better.
My husband and I totally enjoyed our brunch at Dos Caminos in Time Square. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave some outstanding recommendations. Yes, we will return when we come to New York!
Cute Mexican restaurant with high quality, delicious food and margaritas in the heart of New York. Awesome for people watching and just chilling in Times Square. Excellent guacamole and tacos.
The food was absolutely phenomenal. Service could have been better but I think our server was maybe just having an off night as everyone else seemed to be very attentive to their tables. The decor was beautiful. All the food and drink tasted incredible!
Very good for a chain. I'll be back.
Way too expensive for what we got. Slow, terrible service.
I love going to Dos Camino o. 27th and rarely go to Times Square if I can avoid it but we were attending a show so this was convenient. I have to say the server was great and he made the experience. The food is better than most other place around the theater district and the atmosphere is for a young crowd but still recommend going for a few drinks before a show or dinner after.
Food and service was great. I didnt hear the waitress when she asked what kind of water we wanted and we ended up with 2 $8 bottles of water. They offer still or sparkling but no mention of tap water. Make sure you specifically say tap unless you want very pricey bottles of water! That is a money grab on their part.
Food was good but the overall experience was awful. As is normal for me on business trips I was dining alone. The restaurant is connected to the hotel so convenient. Service was awful and I was ignored before, during and after the meal. They didn’t have the first two glasses of wine I chose - a Chardonnay (!) and a Sancerre. I waited forever for the check. Overall, not a good experience despite the food. I suspect because I was a woman on my own.
Great service and the manger came by and made sure everything was perfect!
Have been here many times and every time the service is on point. Great drinks, delicious food, love it!
