Dunkerley’s Restaurant & Hotel
The service was ok although we had to wait an unacceptably long time for our cold sweets
My stater of pigeon breast was over cooked and leathery and sat in a dark gloutenous sauce
We both had fish for a main and both were over cooked and mushy
We have eaten here before and enjoyed it so hopefully this was a one-off
celebrated my partners 80th birthday here. booked into the restaurant specially, got a good table, service was very good, prices good. Additional bonus of a demi tasse of soup prior to our meal, chefs compliments, which was the best we had ever tasted (recipe please) starters good, followed by a sorbet, also free, and main course which was very good. Wine was excellent and a good price. only fault I can find is they asked if we wanted water and we said yes, thinking you should always get a jug of water in a first class restaurant, however it was, I think £3.75 ! as they brought us a bottle. the chap on the next table asked for a jug of tap water with ice (free of course) Silly mistake on our part so look out for this trick future diners. Having said this the whole experience was really nice and we did return a few days later and had a meal in the bistro.
this ticked all the boxes. A class act. To be recommended.
Delicious food, nice ambiance, friendly staff. Good value for a top class meal.
Lovely meal and very nice friendly service. Would definitely go again
Experience fine dining without breaking the bank. Delicious food and attentive friendly staff. Can highly recommend.
We really enjoyed the food at Dunkerleys. Three of chose the same starter and mains. The scallops were perfectly cooked and delicious. The hake was very tasty too with nicely cooked vegetables. We liked the touch of being given a soup and sorbet gratis. The staff were pleasant and overall we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The value was very good as we chose from Chefs choice menu
Very attentive service and excellent food, with complimentary amuse bouche and palette cleanser (sorbet)
Our party of 6 were very well looked after by the team, making sure that we had a very enjoyable dining experience. The menu covered all options and catered for gluten free, which was very handy. Food quality was exceptional.
Good food, excellent service and pleasant surroundings.
If you dine at this restaurant, I strongly suggest you ask for a quiet table on the lower level. The upper level dining space is very noisy and detracts significantly from the enjoyment of the meal.
I booked a table to celebrate my investiture with my family and friend and all I can say the experience was a perfect ending to a perfect day . My heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Dunkerlys for your excellent food and first rate service.
I have been to Dunkerley's a while ago, the food, ambiance, staff were excellent. It was the same on Sunday, the restaurant was packed, the staff were very good, attentive at all times. Will come again.
We enjoyed our visit to Dunkerleys on Sunday. The weather and the view from our table were magnificent, and the service was exemplary. The roast lamb was delicious too. We shall certainly be back! Thank you Dunkerleys.
Review of restsurant- Amazing food (and I am picky) and very reasonable price for type food served. Service was amazing- not rushed, lovely and quiet I would definately go again and reccomend. Didnt stay at hotel so can not review
Food was delicious. Great to eat fresh fish at the coast. Have eaten in the past from bar menu in the summer. Chose to eat in the restaurant. Staff very friendly. Food cooked well.
The meal and service was excellent, as always.
The choices on the Valentines menu was very good and the food was great.
Our request for a window table was no problem.
Valentine’s night ❤️
Great food and great staff we would happily recommend to others. We will be eating here more often!
Lovely food, but quite expensive. House white sadly could have been colder and crisper to compliment the fish. Hotel very comfortable , breakfast excellent.
Enjoyed a great family lunch with drinks at the bar first. Relatively quiet (we went on a Friday). I was pleased that we were given a lovely table by the window. Friendly staff. Enjoyed a delicious well-portioned mussel starter and fresh, generous main course for a decent price (£15) for a 2 course set menu. On the sea front so can be followed by a walk on the pier. Great to revisit on our holiday and impressed with it again a decade later!
Always fantastic food. Fish is the best but if you prefer white or red meat I'd definitely recommend Service is great and meals are not hurried on the table so you are able to spend your time enjoying the food
A very enjoyable meal, excellent Dover sole & lamb. Scallops could have been bigger ! Not sure about the Apple & celeriac intercourse soup & the frozen apple palate clearer. But pleasant service on a very busy night. Enjoyed drinks in the bar afterwards & would certainly recommend & will be back soon.
This is a must visit, the food is fabulous, the service outstanding, and the atmosphere just perfect.
Waitress forgot to offer bread and also forgot to bring bread with cheese board. Just cheese no crackers or bread offered. Lack of vegetables and we tried to order more but they had used the last. Seems like they were used to a much older clientele with tiny appetites .
Just really good value very pleasant cheerful staff and good food.
Really enjoyable lunch with friends. Have not been to the restaurant for many years but standard still as good.
Just so nice to have a place to enjoy a meal .or special do"s in fact since 1998s hols But now we lived here
since Sept 1999! We still miss the French style bar that was always packed out .Bistro meal s wines just WOW see all your fab family soon chef......Regards....R.G.Clark
PS .Always an excellent meal over 20 years and many more God willing!Ian egh!
Great food, well cooked and presented. Local oysters beautifully fresh, local fish wonderfully done to a turn. Great desserts. Terrific wine list. Would we recommend? Already have!
Beautiful well cooked food. Too much time between courses but a great place if you are not in a rush
not the experience we was expecting , although i booked well in advance the table we were given was tight and in a walkway from the kitchen to the main restaurant area. Ok.. it was a Saturday and evening there were at least 2 big parties in the house . so a bit noisy.
so, onto the food . we are in maybe one of the best seafood restaurants in Deal. We both ordered the oysters to start , Irish not local . we waited a while for them ,and when they finally arrived they were sitting in a dish of melted ice water. when i told the waiter he said he would tell the chef. I can only assume that they were prepared left on the pass. and not brought out . the thing that is disappointing me is that someone picked them up and brought them to the table without checking presentation ,all it needed was a fresh plate of ice . we also had to ask for the red onion vinegar.
the rest of the food was good . we would come back but not on a busy period .
Made to feel very welcome and great service both in the bar and restaurant
Excellent food and service
Staff very attentative
Always a good place to eat and drink
Enjoyable meal at a familiar restaurant. The meet and greet was friendly and table well situated and spacious.
Drinks orders and menus followed swiftly. The food was well cooked and presented and the timings and attention from staff perfectly suited our needs.
I would enjoy a return visit whenever in the area.
Dunkerleys is one of our favourites and we are regular customers. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is always good. The Sunday lunch is as good as their bar meals.
having had many lovely meals in the past here it was disappointing to find the quality is so much poorer.
even the bread was like a supermarket offering rather than the interesting varieties previously. The fish was very overcooked - think seabass. Happily replaced but not much better. Did not seem super fresh. Mackerel was the best offering. And nice cheeses. But I think the place has lost its mojo!
Our table was crowded into a corner. We were greeted with the fact that in a seafood restaurant there were no scallops and no oysters. The replacement starters were average when we finally got them. The monkfish main dish was quite frankly tough and over-cooked and awful. We waited an eternity for our mains. The staff tried their best and did take something off the bill but this was a very bad experience on our holiday with my wife's mother. Do not go near this place when it might be busy.
With the exception of the goats cheese tart all our other courses were excellent . The tart was not tart it was a slice of uncooked cheese on a bit of pastry - just as well everything else made up for it so this remains one of our favourites
Food was good, as was service. Pop music did not add to the ambiance.
Food was ok,service was abit slow considering there was only two tables being used.but ok
