Birthday brunch. The food was delicious and the service was amazing. To top it off the birthday cake surprise at the end was perfect.
We decided to go to the bar when we arrived because we were early. We got no attention and no service until we literally yelled for them to come over. I could understand if it was busy but there was about nine seats open at the bar and 3 servers behind the bar. Terrible service! They have very limited drinks to order. My sister ordered a Malibu and pineapple and they said they don't do that. Since I've been to Tavern many times and since this happens often at the bar I decided to finally say something. Once we left the bar the service the ambiance and the food were spectacular. We had a fabulous experience overall and will go back. I hope they fix the issues at the bar.
What a wonderful experience for brunch at a NY landmark! The “greenhouse” feel to the interior makes for a beautiful setting, and all the food we ordered was delish! Highly recommend!
You pay for the location and experience. The food was decent but $27 steak and eggs should have a little zhuzz to it in my opinion. Service was prompt and basic. The booth seat I sat in was ripped badly and uncomfortable on my bare legs from shorts. Nothing special unless you just want the experience of dining here.
Impeccable flavor in the brunch dishes. Service was friendly and attentive! Would highly recommend!
Awesome! Service and food quality were stellar!
The Tavern should be a part of every NYC trip!!
Delightful ambiance in the heart of NYC. Swamy and great service and food.
We celebrated our 19th anniversary inn NYC at Tavern on the Green. My wife is Singaporean and has never been to NYC and I have lived in Asia for 21+ years. Our meal was fantastic, our waitress, Connie, was fun and excellent and our evening was perfect. The restaurant acknowledged our anniversary with a nice cake. My wife loved the experience and said it was a highlight. Thank you to the restaurant and most of all, Connie, for a memorable evening.
Service was a little slow. Food was excellent! We sat at large table outside perimeter-prob should have some tea lights-was very dark.
This was our first visit to tavern on the Green. We thought that it would be a different experience considering this is a NYC historical restaurant. We were disappointed in the food. It was a small portion and not that tasty. The people were casually dressed as if going to the beach.
Trying the restaurant week menu is worth it! However, our three gentlemen thought that it is only enough to taste, they can hardly eat enough.
The waitstaff was very attentive especially our waitress. She made our birthday celebration special. The restaurant week menu was limited but we found the food to be well presented and tasty. Thank you again for making our evening perfect.
Unfortunately, nothing too special. Ambience, location absolutely incredible, but the magic stops there. Needs a spiff up soon!!
Excellent food, outstanding service. Highly recommended.
Tavern on the Green is THE iconic restaurant in New York City's Central Park. Normally, a bit pricey, we were lucky enough to be in New York during Restaurant week and enjoyed a delicious lunch consisting of an appetizer (from a choice of 3) and entree (from a choice of 3) for $26 per person. We chose a Watermelon and Feta Salad and a Bowl of Gazpacho for our appetizers and both had Grilled Mango Chicken Kebobs with Toasted Coconut Sticky Rice for our entrees - Delicious and Plentiful. For an additional $17 per person you could have a wine pairing with each course. The wines were very good. We also chose to eat outdoors and much to our surprise there were no bugs. But there are beautiful indoor dining areas as well. The waitstaff is friendly and very efficient without hovering. True professionals. If you have the opportunity, treat yourself to lunch at Tavern on the Green.
Very poor service. I ordered a drink 3 times from 3 different people without it ever arriving. Service poor they forget you are there.
Food was exceptional as was the service. A good place to go prior to a wander in Central Park. Can imagine it is a different place in the evening too. I will definitely visit again next time I come to nyc!
My husband and I always enjoy a visit to Tavern on the Green when we travel to NYC. On Thursday, we began our memorable meal With an assortment of East Coast delicious delectable oysters. My husband had the special appetizer of the day, which was a
Beautifully presented and tasty ceviche served in a coconut. We each had the yummy Cobb salad and then ate much of the fresh coconut. Our server was excellent, courteous and most professional. He assisted us with our selections and was spot on.
We will look forward to our next visit to your fine restaurant, whenever that my be.
We made a reservation on short notice for lunch and were thrilled to grab a table. The atrium where we were seated was VERY warm and extremely noisy. I had a hard time conversing with my mother in law. The tables on the inner part of the restaurant seemed to be much cooler & not as loud. I would recommend requesting a table away from atrium when being seated (particularly in summer). Our food was delicious. I had a wonderful wedge salad and a crab cake which was perfect. My mother ordered the crab appetizer as well as the mushroom toast she ordered. Our server was phenomenal. We will be back!
Service and food outstanding. Ambiance was great also.
We were seated in a very sunny and hot section of the restaurant and told there would be a long wait for another table.
Our server was not friendly or nice.My appetizer was never brought to the table and we were not offered drink refills. My daughters salad contained bacon when she requested no bacon. Server did not check how our meals were so she had to pick out the small pieces of bacon. The food was pricey but good. All in all, although the restaurant is beautiful and the food was good, we won’t be back.
It would be nice to have the tables slightly further apart. The 1st table we were shown was on a corner and jammed in. Luckily, we were able to change to a table with more space. It was quite noisy. The watermelon, feta salad and grilled veggie flatbread appetizers were very good. We both had oven-roasted salmon which was also very good. Would have liked more of the corn chowder-just had a bare minimum. We shared the PB chocolate lava cupcake (delicious) with vanilla ice cream. Service was fairly attentive, perhaps a bit slow. Did get water glasses filled promptly. All together very pleasant, though too noisy until most of lunch crowd left.
We had a wonderful girls lunch. Food was delicious and ambiance was better than expected.
Très bon moment.
Présentation excellente .Ethan était très attentionné.
Tavern on the Green was wonderful. We went for RESTAURANT WEEK LUNCH and ordered gazpacho for the appetizer and for the entee --- chicken with mango , thinly sliced coconut and mango sauce with the wine pairing. Everything was delicious! The ambience and service were also excellent. We shall return!
Beautiful lunch with my daughter before a Broadway show.
You can't beat the scenery...we went for restaurant week and was delighted....I would skip the watermelon salad and opt for the other 2 appetizer selections-I choose the chicken entree and the peach cheesecake and both were delicious. My friends said the Panna Cotta was delicious also.
What a lovely way to kick-off a girls weekend in NYC. The renovations are lovely and the food was just fantastic.
Very authentic and an icon place for Central park and NY. Must see and eat
Service was terrible. Had an 8pm reservation. Told us it would be a bit of a wait. An hour later still waiting and they were very rude when we asked about it as our definition of a “bit” was clearly different. Restaurant overall seems outdated. Needs an overhaul and food was just average. Probably was considered fancy and upscale food in the 80s.
Not often does a restaurant with the hype that Tavern on the Green has does it meet those expectations, but this was an amazing experience for our family. The atmosphere is like that oitnof a fairy tale, the service was awesome and the food was delicious. Yes, it was pricey, but for a once in a lifetime when visiting NYC, Tavern on the Green is a must do!
Send off dinner for my kids
Went for restaurant week, food was good. Location in Central Park is great. Recommend reservations.
The place is beautiful, but the portions could have been a bit bigger.
Service was fantastic. The food was delicious. We asked for a special cocktail - Aperol Spritz with St Germain replacing the Aperol. They didn’t blink an eye and loved making our new drink! Wait staff said the bartender suggested adding mint the next time. #2 was even better ! Lots of fun. Beautiful garden.
I highly recommend.......even for New Yorkers, like us!!!
The setting is beautiful and the service was good. However the food is just OK.
Very limited menu which is overpriced. Seafood entree on website which sounded real good was not available. Creamed spinach side we wanted they ran out of...at 6:30 pm on a Sunday did not make sense. The only item I really liked was the rolls while the scenery was great. Not recommended.
Food was good and there is a nice ambiance, but for the price you would expect more of a fine dining experience. Portions of appetizers and desserts are very small. Still they charge 14usd for a cheesecake. The Boathouse in CP is also expensive, but at least you have the fine dining experience.
