Bacino’s founder, Dan Bacin opened the first Bacino’s 40 years ago in the heart of Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. Dan had been running a popular art-and-culture radio station and publishing a companion magazine when he decided to sell that business and open his own restaurant. After a great deal of research and advice from leading restaurateurs, he decided on the very competitive pizza business. After all, Chicago was a world class pizza market with over 3,300 pizza purveyors, but Dan’s mission was to use only the freshest and highest quality ingredients – fresh mozzarella, fresh vegetables, and even making his very own pizza sauce. Bacino’s became a great success topping AOL’s pizza pol and having the top selling pizza at the Taste of Chicago for many years.
Food was good. It took an hour to get a pizza.
Horrible service. Inept, uncaring, incompetent. The wrong wine, 45 minutes for two 10” pizza!? Avoid this place!
The restaurant is inside of a value hotel and looks like the continental breakfast station. But... the food is fantastic! Great for a big loud group. Great for kids. Not a romantic date night type of place.
We arrived about 15 minutes before our reservation, so they told us to sit in the waiting area because we were early. They seated others without reservations and seemed to forget us. I asked them about a table again a little bit after our reservation time and we were seated. However, we were ignored a LONG time before any servers took our drink and food orders. They just walked by us. It took awhile before our bread and salad was served. The food tasted good, but then there was a bug in my husband's pasta dish. They didn't charge us for our meal.
Food was not to what I expected in terms of taste and calamari came out cold
Room was too cold
This restaurant is inside a hotel lobby. We arrived for our reservation and asked to be seated outside. It was clear they were busy and the person who seated us was flustered. Our waitress came and asked for a drink order. We ordered drinks and asked for water. A few minutes later she brought the drinks but no water. We saw her one more time - reminded her of the water and ordered our food. It never came nor did she. We waited one hour. Very poor service. We notified the gentleman who seated us and he merely said I’m sorry. We left. We were running in a race the next day and had chosen this place for pasta. Very disappointing.
Great food, really poor (but friendly) service . Extremely long wait time for......everything.
Nice place if just considering the food. And I am not all that picky with ambiance, but would have been nice to know that the restaurant was located in a hotel lobby before making reservations. We would have chosen to go elsewhere.
We took a large group of 20 people here for dinner. The restaurant was very accommodating of our group and were very friendly. The pizza was not as delicious as Giordanos but it was very, very good. Staff service was exception and much better than Giordanos. I’d highly recommend this place.
This was in a hotel lobby.... didnt feel like a restaurant at all
Nice place inside a hotel, slightly table crowded.
Location: inside hotel by the lobby. Has some outdoor tables but only 4.
Ordered the Stuffed pizza: it was great!
This has been my wife and I's favorite go to when we are downtown Chicago for quite sometime.
They are in a new location which is nice, quite and clean. But doesn't have the views that it used to.
The food is excellent and always consistent. We only wish the menu had everything that it used to or at least offered the same selection as their other store in Lincoln Park.
Made a reservation and went there for lunch. Except that it was closed that day while reservations were still available. So the restaurant was very quiet. When a restaurant is closed when they are supposed to be open, you inconvenience your potential customers.
The cheese deep dish pizza is amazing here! Better than most places in Chicago! And best yet - no wait and they take reservations!!!
We liked the food and the server was pleasant, but eating in a hotel restaurant breakfast space like that is weird and lacking in ambience. I would rather try their other locations instead. For someone visiting Chicago who is looking for Chicago-style pizza in a less crowded environment, though, this could be perfect.
Fantastic deep dish pizza. Very flavorful. Modest prices, even with the wine.
Service was excellent. Food was above average. Slightly overpriced in my opinion.
Disappointed! They are recently relocated to a hotel and missing the charm of previous location. Say they are going to begin remodeling very soon so I hope that will help return their former vibe. Had to go down back stairway to use restroom. Tried to call elevator for return but it would not come down to the basement level which was surprising as the fitness room was also located there. It was kind of scary down there. Pizza was good. Minimal wine list. Service just ok.
The thin pizza crust tasted like cardboard, the mozzarella slid off nothing compared to piping hot stringy mozzarella. No way would I would consider this a pizzeria. Worse than a store bought pizza.
The menu online is very different than the one in the restaurant. The dough of the stuffed pizza was bland and there is limited dessert options.
