We had the chicken liver mousse, duck rillette, bone marrow, and beef tongue which were all amazing. Strongly reccomend! Smaller plates but it was perfect for the 2 of us to share. Beef tongue was so deliciously tender, the duck rillette was super tasty, can't ever go wrong with bone marrow, and the liver mousse was my husband's favorite. Their cocktails are really yummy too.
We also had the green tea affogato but were a little disappointed to be honest... the ice cream was grainy or something and it wasn't really what we were expecting. No big deal though, the other parts of the meal were so highly satisfying it overshadowed any regret for the dessert. We will be back.
Wow! Delicious, inventive food. This is a chef-owned restaurant where the chef is actually in the kitchen ensuring high quality. These people work hard and take pride in the dishes they create, and it shows.
Love the vibe of the place. But definitely will be going back for the food. Really good food!

Service was great. Everyone was nice and friendly. The food was not good and the prices seemed extremely expensive for the environment. No liquor license so I can’t even rate the cocktails.
I would pass on this one.
The food was delicious. The fusion of flavors made the succulent whole fish just that more enjoyable. I definitely recommend getting their famous artichoke hearts. We plan to return to try more meals there.

Absolutely fabulous experience. I would go back there in a heartbeat. In addition to their amazing food (a fusion of Asian and French/Mediterranean), our service was bomb. It's in a great location and was overall a fabulous place to celebrate our anniversary.

Fish Filet sandwich was amazing, while the fried chicken waffle can be improved - the waffle is very hard and dense.
As 2 people that both tend to have an appetite, we ordered 5 dishes (none from the bottom more entree-focused part of the menu) to share, and one dessert, and we did well. We started with the chicharrones, which were expertly seasoned and wonderfully crunchy, but a large portion that probably would have been better for a table of 4 or even 6 to share rather than just the two of us. We followed that up with the fabulously briney oysters en croute; we loved 'em, but if you don't like really briney stuff, don't order these. We then had the steak tartare, which is one of my favorite dishes to order in any restaurant. This was pleasant, but not particularly impressive; it was probably the weakest dish of the five, but it certainly wasn't bad. It was accompanied by wonderfully tiny house-pickled carrots and cauliflower that made appearances in other dishes as well. We couldn't decide between the bone marrow and the beef tongue, so we ordered both, and we didn't regret it. The lightly bread-crumbed bone marrow with a scallion crepe was very tasty, and the braised beef tongue with amazingly smooth beet puree and melt-in-your-mouth potatoes was one of the best preparations I've ever had of tongue, very reminiscent of braised short-ribs. We then finished up with a green tea affogato (with a very light honey gelato/granita) that literally had us drinking the remnants out of the glass. The lotus cookie was very lightly sweetened, and while we know it was supposed to be Asian in origin, it also reminded us of an expertly done Polish chrusciki. They only have a beer and wine license, and so they have gone the way of making interesting soju-based cocktails, none of which we tried, but our Brut Rose sparkling wine from Willamette Valley, OR was just what we wanted. We also were fortunate enough to be there on a quiet night during April spring break, and so it was fairly quiet and we got to meet the chef, but we could tell that if the place were packed, it could get a bit loud.
I met my friend for her birthday dinner here. We ordered several plates, I being the consumer of most. The Chicken Mousse was wonderful. Light, salty, and sweet! (worked well with what I believe to be oyster sauce). Then there was the chicharrones, and I couldn't stop nibbling on that. Another dish was the beef tongue and that was gone. Soft, chewy, more like a piece of meat that my usual KBBQ beef tongue. Lastly, the one dish I was there for- the bone marrow. What heavenly, delicious plate of wonder. Granted it's on the fatter and oily side, but it's bone marrow. You're asking for all that. My friend ordered the burger, and that was divine as well. To top it off, the drinks! There's a pandan mojito and a smokey old fashion-sque drink. Most are made with soju, I believe, and I think soju does wonders as it can be mixed with anything. Just note, parking in DTLA is horrid. So, I opted to park in the underground parking literally beside them for $10 (cash only). Overall, experience here was amazing. 10/10 would go again, if it wasn't so far from home :(

Fantastic meal in a friendly atmosphere. Hock + Hoof is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy some truly amazing food. From the scallops, to the bone marrow, to the beef tongue, and finishing with the brick toast ; there was not a single misstep or bad bite on the table. Portions are perfect to share and the menu was fun to explore.
The house pickles on the bone marrow added just the perfect, acidic, snappy counterpoint to the fat. The duck breast came with cabbage and ancient grains and all were elevated by the duck jus. And that beef tongue... Imagine the best, most gorgeous pot roast you've ever had and then imagine something better. A light hand with the saucing allows the meat to stand on its own, and it had no problem shining like a savory, unctuous star.
The chocolate mousse was amazing.. Really it was.. You could have a long, happy relationship with the dense, barely sweet, cocoa rich mousse and the pink peppercorn cake.. But the brick toast made me drop my fork and my jaw. A deceptive bowl of beige toast and ice cream, it was a sweet, savory, chewy, cinnamon and caramel finish to a terrific meal.
Go, absolutely go to Hock+Hoof.
This is a promising restaurant but the overall experience needs a lot of work. Menu and food is pretty mediocre, and the lighting in the restaurant is way too bright. On a Tuesday night we were the only two people there. Service was great, as it should be when there is no crowd - but the experience left us wanting to start over somewhere else.

Best customer service I have had in a while. I’ve been wanting to try different restaurants in downtown and for sure I’ll be returning. I would definitely want to return with friends for lunch in then near future.
Service was not good on evening of 2/22. Food was mediocre and flavors were odd in pork toro, some noodles, and the duck breast.
Very friendly staff. Pretty nice sized portions. Food was good but not great. Nice warm atmosphere. Good for dates.
Really innovative menu, good for meat fans (though also some good fish options) . Decent priced wines and an overall good experience. Cool vibe- foodies will like.
We went on valentines but had the option of a la carte so we tried quite a few things amungst four of us.
(Yes- you do leave smelling like the restaurant- I read a couple other ppl mentioning it).
Most importantly, would go back!

I'm sorry to hear that your visit with us 4 months ago left you disappointed. We do change our menu seasonally, so perhaps we have some items now that you would enjoy more.
Our server was super friendly and courteous, for that alone I would repeat. This is a new joint so I wasn’t expecting the food to be all that, however it was not bad - pretty good actually! The bone in ribeye was terrific, the burrata is always a safe choice but add Asian pears and honey and you got a winner!!
We had the pork belly, beef toungue, and bone marrow appetizers. Amazing! We shared the pork chop entre and it too was amazing! Highly recommmed.
I was impressed. As a meat heavy restaurant, Hock & Hoof had some great vegetarian options. Every dish we had was thoughtfully presented and delicious. We also had some great wine. Our server/bartender was very engaging and helpful. Overall, a really great experience and I'll be happy to go back soon!
There's been a little mixed up with our reservation. Although we were treated badly by one of the server who greeted us when the table we reserved wasn't available, the manager and the server who served our table were sincere and worked with us. They are apologetic and gave us a round of free drinks for the extra 35 minutes we waited The food is excellent and delicious.
I ordered the following items:
Clam Toast: Best item we ordered. Brioche bread with Parmesan cheese. Clams and clam chowder smothered on top. Amazing.
Beef Nigiri: Not good. Red paste covered all the beef flavor. Not worth the value.
Mushroom Rice Cakes: Very tasty dish but overly salty. It comes with Korean style rice cakes and a variety of mushrooms in a thick red sauce.
Bone Marrow: Tasty bone marrow comes with unique green onion crepe to lather it on.
Overall, some great dishes minus the Asian items we ordered. Which made our meal only 2/4 on items we'd order again. I would come back but just not order any of the Asian based dishes.
My friend and I tried the DineLA menu.
We thought the dishes we chose were okay. Mixed spring vegetables were good. The Cod battered in tempura, beef tongue, clam chowder on bread and fry bread with chicken liver were okay. We did not like the dessert.
Our main server was friendly and attentive. There was a weird lull where I think our server was on break because we waited for about 25 minutes before I waved down a different server to clear our dishes. I then had to wave down a third server about the dessert.
The air ventilation is horrible. You walk out of the restaurant smelling like you have been to a Korean BBQ.
The food was delicious and our service was outstanding.
We were running late for our reservation at 6pm. We arrived at 6:30 and we were the second table being seated. I was a little concerned as to why it was so dead on a Friday evening; DON'T BE! It started filling up after 7pm.
The menu seemed to be a little, shall I say fresh with many vegetarian options. Good for my wife who is a Pescatarian, but I'm more a meat guy. However, there were plenty of meat items, but it's a sharing style restaurant. There was bone marrow and some other good meat items, but I was stuck sharing. We ordered the burrata w/Asian pears, fall vegetables, cod with tempura batter and yes a hamburger! (With waffle fries).
I'm embarrassed to say that the burrata and the vegetables were fantastic and filling; a must! The cod was actually the restaurant's interpretation of fish and chips, but much better and more filling. Hamburger, worth going just for that. It was cooked medium but it was softer in texture than most and hit the spot. Waffle fries, you can figure that out for yourself.
No hard liquor, just beer and wine. I preferred a cocktail of harder liquor, but the food made up for that. Very industrial decorated but with a warm feeling. Service was very pleasant, attentive and fast.
All in all a MUST go! Prices are very reasonable and affordable. Food is great. One thing, don't go too far past the restaurant to park because you'll have to circle back and that's 10 minutes, I don't know much about that but someone driving my car did that.
What an incredible surprise, the beef tongue is otherworldly. The service made the evening. The staff genuinely care and it shows.
Food was outstanding...the chairs at the table not so much. Tucked in just past the Alexandria Hotel, parking lots not expensive. Limited street parking. Casual ambiance belies the level of the food and its presentation.
I couldn’t agree with the taste of food here. I understand that Chef or Owner is trying to be creative, but your creativity needs taste to support. If you’re just trying to get a drink here, you’ll be fine. But if you’re trying to have some delicious food, go somewhere else.

A brand new spot in DTLA focusing on rich dishes for carnivores. I am a vegetarian and I still found nice food to eat. Lighting was a bit bright and there was no discernible music which is better than bad music but it would have been nice to have some tailored tunes to suit the laidback vibe. Service was excellent and the Chef is on top of her game.
