Red Rooster Harlem
The place is really cool, great music and fun ambiance. The prosecco with pear vodka was my favorite cocktail. The yarbird chicken was perfectly cooked and the corn was delicious. Unfortunately, my husband didnt love the ribs because they were a bit cold in the center and the side of potatos was just ok. He also ordered the cornbread and found it a bit dry. Now, the Harlem Blossom dessert is delicious with crunchy pistachios on the top... Yum!
Menu was just ok.
Food was "decent" at best...My wife loved the Whiting, however I wasn't impressed with the Jerk Chicken. I was actually expecting more spice, and was thrown off by the citrus of the mango. The Scallion cake was incapable of being CUT. The veggies, wine and beer were great.
I'm willing to give it ONE more try...Good luck.
My brother, in from Minneapolis, MN, dined for lunch. Decorated with such history on the walls. The chef sent a free appetizer of meatballs, yummy.
It’s a TO GO place when you want a diffent vibe than the regular downtown restaurants.
Service and food are very good.
We had a fun evening.
Best chicken and waffles I have ever had!!
Red Rooster is an amazing experience; great food and great ambiance. The waitress was knowledgeable and helpful. Had the Hot Honey Yardbird and it's one of my favorite dishes. This is a highly recommendable restaurant.
Service was excellent, food was excellent. Just a little to noisy when we first got there. Got better, the music I think was turned down. Would go back again.
Fantastic evening. Outstanding service for out of towners Great live entertainment and atmosphere.
As a longtime patron of RR, I have to express discontent with the food. It's still very good, but it used to be delicious. Every morsel would burst with flavor. It used to be a memorable meal. Now it's a good meal. I would also add that they could stand to add more vegetarian options to the menu.
Ambience and service was great, food was just so-so. Small portions, wilted lettuce in the salad and prices for restaurant week were not but so discounted.
Although the food was quite tasty, the overall experience was quite disappointing, especially for a restaurant by such a well-known chef as Marcus Samuelson. Service was chaotic, with some requests -- such as for beverages -- going unfulfilled. More shocking, however, was to see food sitting under heat lamps waiting -- and waiting -- for servers to pick it up to bring it to customers. The expediter seemed to be absent at times; at other times there seemed to be group discussions among the waiting staff about which of the dishes placed under the heat lamps belonged to which ticket. We have eaten in a considerable number of Michelin two and three-star restaurants and we recognize that Red Rooster perhaps has no ambition to aspire to that class of restaurant. Still, the disorganization of the kitchen and the servers seriously detracted and distracted from what should have been an excellent dining experience based just on the taste of the food.
Excellent food, worthwhile a visit. Be aware it might be noisy, not necessarly your romantic quiet dinner. We will be back when we are in town again!
Noise level at 7PM was intolerable. Conversation was not possible.
Great food. Great vibes. Tends to get loud so you have to yell during dinner but my party didn't mind.
The waitstaff was AMAZING! In addition to a warm welcome and timely seating, they were also appropriately attentive without being intrusive on our conversation. The food was also pretty good (the salad was just a little overdressed). Fantastic experience. I’ll be back!
Great Experience. Awesome service, great food, great beverage options and the band was great. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back! Thank you!
Hi, I loved it! I loved the energy, the decor and the staff.
I received the yard Bird, I did not like the soupy, stuff under my bird, with the sliced pickles. But maybe that was just me. Also need to get a better recipe for corn bread, was really dry. Try a Spoon bread recipe, way more moist. But keep the Lingenberry butter.
My husband thought it was a bit overrated, not sure why he waited a month for fried chicken. (he doesn't get it)
It was fun and my daughters and our guest from Sweden had fun
Worth heading to Harlem.
I was visiting my daughter who is in NYC for a summer job in Harlem. The Red Rooster was her #1 choice for our Sunday brunch together. Everything was perfect from our interaction with the host through the entire meal. Very attentive service. Looking forward to going back again the next time I am in NYC and checking out the Gospel brunch!
Amazing restaurant great food, friendly staff, and excellent jazz club.
The oxtails were fatty. Great ambiance. I'd only refer for drinks and happy hour. Beautiful art work.
I truly enjoyed the experience. I live out of state and met some new friends. My food was okay. I ordered the ox tail special but my oxtail was full of fat and literally no meat. Therefore, I couldn’t eat my plate. They were very nice about it. They brought me a new plate very quickly and added a desert for my inconvenience. I look forward to coming back very soon.
Loved the chicken, deviled eggs, shrimp and grits, corned bread, mac “n cheese and every single dish we ordered.
This place is amazing! Went there for brunch and everything was DELICIOUS! Will definitely go back for regular lunch or dinner and will bring my crew with me this time.
Some of the best food and service I've ever experienced! The crab cakes were one of the best things I've ever tasted.
Enjoyable and tasty food like the whole honey bbq chicken, and the yummy Mac and cheese and biscuits, but the collard greens were over salted and the waffle a bit limp.
Once again Chef Samuelsson delivers delicious food, fun and attractive ambience, professional, congenial staff. Have been enjoying dinning experiences in his establishments since his beginning in US at the original Aquavit.
Thank you very much Chef for maintaining your commitment to providing patrons with quality and interesting experiences.
Honestly, I might come back to NYC just for Red Roster. It was f*cking amazing!
Loved everything about it ... delicious food, courteous staff and wonderful atmosphere!
My party was so excited to dine at Red Rooster! The food and drinks were amazing and the service was awesome. We were fortunate to have met the Chef! So that made our experience even better. I highly recommend Red Rooster!
The Chicken was great.
My mom and my friend like the blueberry waffles.
The Rum Punch was delicious!
My sister loved the corn bread!
The restaurant week menu makes eating at red rooster an amazing deal. You get to sample the amazing food for a significantly reduced rate. I highly recommend!
The food was nice, but did not live up to our expectations. It lacked real flavour and was in disbalance with the price of the food. Some of the chicken was dry, the appetizer salad did not have much flavour, the brownie for desert was hard and dry. The cauliflower and salmon entrees were very good, but that was not about to recommend Red Rooster. We were seated next to the pass, where the chef was shouting all the time what made communicating with each other rather difficult.
Yard bird as delicious as last time . Swedish meatballs not as good as I remembered. Seemed to have a sausage taste and mouthfeel. Corn bread great.
Awesome! Even got to meet the chef! Awesome addition to my NYC experience
I sat at the bar while waiting for a friend. The bartender asked me to close out as she was going off shift. She handled my bill and credit card and I opened a new tab with the new bar tender. When I cashed out with him I handed him the same credit card I handed the first bartender. He said he couldn’t accept it as it didn’t have a chip. I pushed back since bartender #1 accepted without a blink. I asked him to follow suit and make sure she knew in the future to follow the rules with consistency. He refused and wouldn’t accept my card. I had another card however the principle of the argument made no sense to me from a customer experience and satisfaction standpoint. As for my meal...it was mediocre at best. Figured ordering the hot honey yardbird chicken would be a quintessential dish for my first time (and now last) experience at Red Rooster. It was nothing special. Could have been shake and bake for all I know. I expected southern fried crispy chicken and got soggy breading with not much flavor. The chicken wasn’t moist and juicy. The succotash was lovely and the cornbread side was dry and crumbly like it had been sitting under heat lamps all day. The deviled eggs however, were delicious! I also don’t like to see waitstaff circle or highlight in ink, the suggested tip section at the bottom of the bill when it comes. My friend and I split the bill and unfortunately, she didn’t tip due to a math error on her part and our waiter came out and asked if any thing was wrong with our service since the bill only revealed my tip. She corrected it but it all left a bland, boring taste in my mouth. Sorry Red Rooster-but you underwhelmed me.
My friend and I met at dinner at Red Rooster to catch up. We sat in the garden in front of the restaurant and enjoyed the lovely evening. Our server was friendly and professional. The food was mostly excellent. The crab cakes were small and had a bit of an unusual flavor and were a little over salted. The salmon and ribs were delicious. The peach dessert was a disappointment, it was mostly a tough doughnut-like pastry with less fruit than we had expected.
Overall, a wonderful experience.
The restaurant was great... service great food great and was my first time but not my last time.
It was a quaint restaurant in a busy city and felt like I was in a small town
Treasure... A must visit
Visiting from Los Angeles...excellent meal!
