   Amazing food. Great cocktails but.. Would've had a better time if we weren't sitting next to a loud group of unsupervised children. Took 45 minutes to get drinks and appetisers and were kicked out moments after finishing mains. No desert was offered. Service needs work.

   A great culinary experience. As usual the food was extraordinary good. The dishes we selected prepared with best ingredients and care. The refurbished restaurant has a good vibe. But the best of all in this restaurant is the fantastic service. Dedicated staff makes a difference to a dining experience.

   Good was pretty good. It was a busy night but our booking was at 8 and we were there till 10pm because we were still waiting for dishes. There was only two of us. Very frustrating, a couple (I don’t know who they were if vip or whatever) but the table behind us came in at 8:30 and got multiple dishes of food and drink straight away.

   So sorry our service was not up to standard Holly! We were extremely busy with chef shortages due to last minute covid illnesses pre shift so this may have affected service to not be our usual standard. Were the wait staff aware of the delay? Are you able to send us more info via email so we can rectify? I've also investigated further in regards to the table behind you, they pre ordered margaritas and appetisers on arrival when they made their booking. I hope that clears things up!

   Took mum here for her birthday and we ordered the 8 course meal for $89. The first 3 courses were the daily sashimi w/ chilli ponzu, tuna tataki, and variety sashmi - the fish selection was fresh and the dressings/toppings were interesting and delicious. Our favourite course was probably the oven roasted toothfish with butter sauce which was pipping hot, moorish and went long nicely with the rice. Our least favourite was the prawns which had great flavour but unfortunately wasn't succulent but more on the mushy side. The Wagyu and Asparagus tempura were tasty and very well executed. The mushroom dish unfortunately was a bit of a scrambled mess, with gritty quinoa and sesame seeds tossed throughout - it was not partcularly tasty and the mix of textures was really strange. We both love and enjoy mushroom dishes so this one fell a bit short of expectations. In terms of service, I felt it was unpretentious, courteous and attentive. The only major let down for me was the ambience as we were sat outside the bathroom - there were a few patrons who did not close the door after using it which meant the toilet bowl was in plain sight as my mum sat accross from it. It was not the experience I was hoping for on her birthday. I wish I spoke up about it earlier but the restaurant was clearly booked and quite busy. Perhaps some signage on the door before and after entry would help other customers be more mindful of the tables seated next to the bathroom?

Unfortunately tables are allocated based on date of bookings but we are more than happy to move you if we had free tables elsewhere especially for such a special occasion. So sorry it tainted your experience. We hope to see you again and will make sure we make a note under your booking name to ensure you have a better table next time!

    We weren’t served white rice sushi as they were out of white rice. The staff seemed stressed, although everything did go right the atmosphere and food offered was different than what I am used to at Zushi.

    Had a stomach ache after the food and was $26 for some vegetables. They also brand one dish at a time which meant some of us had no food.

    Best Japanese I’ve ever had. I’ve been to Japan numerous times and enjoyed the cuisine very much, this was by far the best Japanese meal I’ve had in Australia.

    The newly renovated space at Zushi in Surry Hills is great offering flexible and varied casual seating options. I chose seats at the sushi bar, for my son and I, and watched the chef create plates of art while enjoying a delicious bento box for lunch.

    We first went to Zushi around five years ago on a trip from Melbourne and loved it. We recently decided to go back to Sydney and made sure that stopped at Zushi for lunch. It was just as amazing the second time. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Sydney!
