Zinc is one of the locals favourites, we have been there several times with the old owners and now several times with the new
Overall the experience was very good however there were some areas which could be improved.
We were seated at the rear of the restaurant when there were plenty of spare tables in the more open front area.
I had to return my main course (lamb and gnocchi) as it was cold when served. It was as though my dish had been served first onto a cold plate and then put under lights until the other 3 dishes were ready.
Waitress had no idea how to serve wine (a backpacker who had not been trained - a pity as I am sure she would have been excellent had management spent some time with her)
Absolutely loved our time at Zinc! Exceptional food, cocktails and service. Loved the bathrooms. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Lovely place to eat, especially outdoors. The food is good, but heavy on the seafood. Vegetarian options do exist on request.
This was our last night in Port Douglas and we could not have picked a better place for dinner, everyone was so helpful, sorry we had some many questions about the wine that our wait person could not answer as new, but she checked with a colleague who was more than helpful. The meals were lovely and the pana cotta dessert was to die for, thanks so much for a great evening.
Food was amazing, every course was delicious! Would highly recommend a visit. The ambiance was great and the fish tank bathrooms are a great surprise!
Service was almost perfect, just a couple of long waits to order and they forgot our drinks however was quickly rectified.
Will be heading back to Zinc when we are next in PD!
Outstanding sashimi and other seafood.Loved the Veltliner wine which is
difficult to find.Service attentive but not fawning
Unless ordering a steak, everything else has is laced with chilli and spices. We asked for none to be in our meals, but to no avail. One meal was inedible! The other just bearable.
Staff did not offer an alternative, or any other inducement to make our night enjoyable, and maybe come back again. We booked on-line, and were shoved right down the back corner, out of the main dining areas. It was windy and difficult to get staff attention. Would never go back, or recommend to anyone - maybe an enemy!
They need to take lessons from Watergate, where the service, food and attention to our plainer needs was fantastic.
Zinc is our favorite restaurant in Port Douglas. We visit Port every year and Zinc is always our first night, and usually last night, dining choice. From the greeting onwards we are never disappointed. And unlike other restaurants the standard and quality of the service and food never slips. We both had the beef brisket on our first night....simply amazing. It's going to be difficult to try and chose something else on our last night. And the bread cob is delicious....totally recommended. Thank you, as always, for a lovely evening.
Great food, great service. Very accommodating for vegans too. Would definitely go back.
Excellent food Good decor esp aquarium Service was not good for such a classy restaurant and when I mentioned that when paying the bill I was told that 3 people called in sick - not my problem There were 8 of us for dinner and restaurant was full but I thought it needed a bit of a refresh eggs dessert menus were stained and scrappy
It was our 50th wedding anniversary dinner and we were treated really well.
We received a glass of champagne each, a lovely “congratulations” message on our tablecloth and “happy anniversary” written on our dessert.
Thank you for making our night so special! 😊
The food at zinc was magnificent. Thsetting is excellent (we enjoyed an outdoor table). The service was okay but certainly did not match the food nor the ambience.
Food was amazing. Wait staff not very attentive with plates left on table well after we were finished and empty glasses of water. But they were pleasant and polite. Would still come again.
We order our bottle of wine and food.
Our food arrived and we still did not have our wine. It eventually arrived while we were eating. Once we finished our meal our empty plates were left in front ages until they eventually came to ask if we wanted dessert.
Whilst the staff, and there were plenty of them, were very pleasant the service was poor. I would not return, there are too many slicker restaurants in Port Douglas.
Great restaurant with good range of food choices.
As locals we frequent zinc quite often
Ange was fantastic, she was heaps of fun and very attentive. When asked if they had bug spray they advised the6 had run out, shortly after one of the team ran to the chemist and picked up some more which promptly arrived at our table. Outstanding service and to top it off the food was spectacular. Would thoroughly recommend as a must eat here for anyone visiting Port Douglas.
We had four courses with wine degustation menu and it was outstanding. Good size - I did order bread but the main course was full size. Two entree dishes and lovely dessert. Very fish focussed but highlight was pork belly. Very fair price on a voucher from our hotel.
Good food, quality ingredients, great service and reasonable prices, nice interior with indoor or outdoor seating. Cocktails are well made too
Booked a table for our last night in Port Douglas. Such a lovely evening, food flavours on point, very good portion size too
Had the best margarita ever! Meals were amazing and quick. Staff were impeccable. Loved it. Will be back 😀
We were quite surprised to learn on arrival that there was a 15% surcharge that night!
We should have been notified of this at the time of booking!
If you are visiting or staying in Port Douglas you must take the opportunity to dine at Zinc, the service level is first class, the food was excellent being at the quieter end of town is a distinct advantage, some place’s are memorable Zinc stands out for all the good reasons. Do yourself a favour and saviour all that this fine restaurant and bar has to offer .
Fabulous on every level. We'll done on creating an awesome place. Can't wait to come again
Great food better staff. Also good to see a kids menu
Food was good. Service very slow. Took almost half an hour before even asked for drinks or to order.
Zinc has a great atmoshere with delicious food. The gnocchi and lamb dish was fantastic but maybe just little small if your only ordering a main course. Service as excellent. One of the best meals we have had in Port Douglas.
Excellent waitress. Friendly and quick service. Kid friendly food.
We may have caught them on a bad night but service was the kind where you have to ask for everything (eg water) three times before it came. We have been before and had a significantly better experience than this time - food was good not great but service was big problem
Food was good overall but what is good food with terrible service. Saw our assigned waiter intermittently through the meal. 3 or 4 others serves us. One nearly threw out entrees onto the table. Leave your problems at home I say, don't take it out on your customers... always come to work ready to smile and work hard! Dishes left on table a long time, food too a long time to come out. No hand soap early in evening in toilets. Matre' D grumpy, a sign, the whole evening was a downhill from thereon.
Overall was an ok experience, service was friendly however they did get my meal order wrong and also one of our meals wasn’t cooked to satisfaction as it was cold
was expecting more. menu items sounded nice but didn't meet expectations. Port Douglas's dining options have slipped up generally since our last visit. serious lack of vegetarian and vegan options in the town.
Waitress was really fun and bubbly and got all our orders 100% right. The steak was lovely and the restaurant has a very relaxed vibe. It was an excellent choice for our family.
Lovely evening, great service . I enjoyed my mushroom risotto, flavoursome. My partner said the ragu pasta was delicious. Portion sizes were excellent, value for money .
The wait staff were annoying. There was insufficient light when going to the toilets. There was a general feeling of disrespect for the diners.
Good wine list but the food was pretty overpriced. Raw Oysters were gritty and small. Paid AUD $44 for an Eye Fillet steak that had fat on it (?). Both my companion and I asked for medium steaks but they were very rare. Sides were extra. The flavours on the plates were very nice. There were other restaurants in Port Douglas that were better value but they were booked out, which is why we ended up here. I should have complained about the steak but I couldn't be bothered going through the rigmarole of waiting for another one, or having a possible debate around the Chef's interpretation of what a medium steak was. Such a shame, it was a gorgeous location and decor, nice ambiance and the staff were very nice and attentive.
Nice dining experience but prices are high and value for money not justified in my view. Lovely meal though, and great attentive staff.
We enjoyed the food service & atmosphere of Zinc on our recent visit there. We had been told that Salsa was THE restaurant to go to but we enjoyed Zinc more. The best restaurant in Port Douglas in my opinion.
We had an absolutely excellent dinner at ZINC - the food was just beautiful, and they catered to my dietary needs perfectly.
We will definitely be back!
Fantastic venue and food. Service however was a little slow on this occasion. Will be come again.
