ZINC New Haven
Co-Owners Donna Curran and Chef Denise Appel combine more than 20 years of experience to create a restaurant that reflects their passion for great local food and quality service. ZINC has evolved into one of the city’s most popular gathering spots for both local foodies and visiting ones.
We enjoyed a very nice meal at Zinc to celebrate my daughter’s Masters degree. My daughter is vegan and enjoyed the BBQ Tofu app and curry dinner. I had the paella which was very good and my wife had the gnocchi and cleaned her plate. The service was excellent, we will go back.
I took my husband out for Father's Day and the food and service was excellent! Love this place
Always my favorite restaurant--the food is not only delicious but is sourced sustainably. The Duck Nachos appetizer is delicious and so too is the Tuna entree.
The food and service was excellent. We enjoyed the slight twist to lots of their dishes.
Our second visit to Zinc confirmed our memory of excellent food, perfect service and delicious wine. It seemed to exceed our expectations. Whatever we ordered (duck confit and an amazing vegetarian dish) was exquisite. We normally do not take leftovers home from restaurants. Different here, and we loved the leftovers the next day just as much.
We will definitely be back!
It was okay.
Outstanding restaurant. Creative menu, carefully chosen wine list, impeccable service. One of the best restaurants in Connecticut. I highly recommend it,.
A bit over air conditioned at the table in the back. Everything else was lovely!
Sat at the tall tables by the bar. Lovely spot. It took a few min to get server to come over and take our order, but then he got us out of there in time for play.
Food was good-but strangely undercooked. Both salmon and pork were quite underdone. Food could have been really good.
Over did it on the fusion some flavors did not mesh. For a high end place service was out of sorts.
This was our third or fourth visit to Zinc. All have been wonderful, but this was the best by bar. The food was simply perfect, beautifully prepared and presented; and the service was exceptional. What's more, it was Mother's Day, when so many other restaurants mass produce something "standard" simply to manage a busier-than-usual schedule.
This is a great restaurant to enjoy after a matinee in New Haven. The wait staff is very friendly and gives great recommendations. The food is superb. We were 6 people and shared a number of dishes. They even cater to vegans and told us which dishes were the best to choose.
The service was extremely attentive. Food choices seemed somewhat limited but were very interesting. But the choices we made were delicious. We would return for more!
Great place for a celebratory event. Food was delicious, particulay the duck lo mein.
DUCK NACHO'S ARE AWESOME!! CHEESES & BREAD & ALL ENTREE'S SCRUMPTIOUS!!
It was our 1st time trying ZInc. I try to eat mostly organic so I was looking for a restaurant with farm to table offerings and Zinc which is only a short ride away popped up on Google. My husband who is not as daring to try new dining experiences was reluctant but ended up liking it. The menu while not having as large a selection as we're used to seems to have something for everyone. My soup appetizer did not come out with my husband's appetizer and when I finally asked about it, it had been forgotten. I'd say that was the only negative but our server was lovely and apologetic. The whole staff was warm and welcoming. If you have a taste for different fare and rather pricey, you should try Zinc at least once. They do offer parking garage validation which is wonderful too.
Menu changes often , dishes were unique and delicious
We enjoyed a terrific dining experience!
The food is always excellent. Pair that with the service and general atmosphere, and it's a delight all round. The appetizers are delicious and various; the tuna dish (one of my favorites) has a host of flavors; and the desserts are outstanding.
Paella was a must have - ambience is wonderful for a business meal but be mindful of the noise level of music at times can be slightly intrusive. Food was delicious and service was faster than i've normally experienced.
Never disappoints! The wait staff was incredibly attentive and the food is always fresh and delicious.
Wonderful gourmet farm to table type meal. Fish very fresh, very interesting recipes!
Innovative and delicious food with excellent service.
Zinc is trying to be something it isn’t. Good food but at fine dining prices. The tuna in the tuna entree was good but the side portion of fried spinach was too oily and greasy. The lemon meringue tart had no lemon, no tart and no meringue. It was lemon flavored creme brûlée. It tasted fine but the portion was miniscule for $13.
Celebrating a milestone birthday - the staff could not have been more attentive. Server Isabelle was impeccably professional. The meals we all rated as some of the best we’ve ever tasted, plated in a creatively appealing way. The scallops were seared to a nutty perfection. The best I’ve ever had.
We highly recommend Zinc and will be returning soon!
We've visited Zinc with a variety of guests on many occasions. Cuisine of quality and fine flavor always, great service from an engaged staff, and a rewarding dining experience every time we go.
The food was mostly delicious, in appropriately sized portions. Apps, soup, and mains were all very tasty and satisfying. Dessert looked better than it tasted - rather bland (so left uneaten after one taste). Service was attentive without hovering. Yeah, we'll go back.
Great ! yummy
Awesome! Unbelievable food and service.
We happened in during restaurant week so there was a well-designed modesty priced pris fix menu. The wine list is extensive and moderately priced. Service was friendly and efficient despite the crowds. We weren’t the only group so the noise level was high. Go again! Absolutely!
We ate here for Restaurant Week. The menu was excellent. Great choices and sizes of plates. The food is always outstanding here.
Great fusion menu.
Went to Zinc for a Friday night dinner and happened to go during restaurant week. We both got items off of that menu and everything was very good! Service was fast and attentive. Ambiance was good, the seats were a little close together but not enough to knock elbows or anything
I had wanted to try Zinc for awhile and came here during Restaurant Week for lunch. Didn’t disappoint. Even paced service, delicious food.
We went for restaurant week and really had a nice meal. Everything was delicious. The service was really good (and I say that although the waitress and I had an almost instinctual personality clash). The guy with the exploding dreds on top who greeted and escorted us to our table was especially hospitable and set a warm and welcoming tone; he actually anticipated my need for the rest room before I articulated it and I wasn't hopping from one foot to the other.
This will become one of our go to choices for birthdays, anniversaries etc.
Zinc is a wonderful restaurant with great food and lovely employees. I'd advise skipping restaurant week, though. It's a bit too frenzied then, though the staff handles the crowds well.
Delicious food, prompt service. I’ll be going back soon!
Flavors were great but my steak came out cold. When I did mention this the server did offer to replace it but I declined as I didn’t want to wait. Overall food and atmosphere was great
