Japanese specialties are intertwined with the flavors and unique products of the Mediterranean to create our own style of sushi, temakis, dim sum, ceviche, among others.
On the menu, the nigiris of butter fish with white truffle, the starry tuna tartar or the usuzukuri of toro pa amb tomàquet harmoniously coincide with tatakis and oxtail gyozas. The menu seamlessly blends the Mediterranean with Japan by showcasing creations including scallops with Ibicencan sobrasada and rice chips with burrata and Iberian ham.
Starting August 5th, we will be offering Lunch Monday through Saturday from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm.
Good ambient mine people, good food!
Missing items on menu and not told u til we order them and told oh we dont have this
very poor value of money expecially the tasting menu. The waiter didn't explain anything about individual dish, which was the basic expectation with tasting menu
Really good night. Delicious food and attentive service. There was the dj making the night special.
Wonderful service. The ceviche was well presented and the flavours popped. The sushi was fresh and excellent!
Food was excellent - staff very professional but also approachable/serviceable. Deco was also very nice and we were there on a relatively quiet evening which made for a very intimate experience. Only constructive criticism is that the tasting menu (which we was absolutely delicious) felt a bit “rushed”. The service of each course was coming in quicker than we could finish the previous (not due to large quantities, but food is so good you want to take your time and savour it). A tad slower service between courses would solve that. Still an amazing place - would definitely go back.
We were in a hurry to have some food before Ice skating at the Somerset house. All the staff were super accommodating and we finished the meal in 40minutes.
Nice New Year’s Eve plus anniversary dinner.
Atmosphere was nice.
Black cod and the tempura prawn roll were really good. The tuna tasting sashimi was quite nice too. The spicy salmon and the spicy tuna hand roll were both too blend, can’t taste the fish at all.
Overall a nice meal, relatively reasonable value for money.
Super friendly staff and exquisite food, will come back.
Amazing food!!! Expensive but incredible if your looking for a special night out.
Overall quite a good place, but rather overpriced, especially taking into account the quality of food. Nothing really special. Nice atmosphere, but, again, all greenery that is one of the main motives of the interior, is plastic.
I really love the place!! I’ve been in Zela more than once. The service was really attentive, Saturday night was with Dj set and the atmosphere was amazing. The food was delicious as always, I am a Sushi lover but the Mediterranean touch really make the difference . High recommended
Found the food on the Tasting Menu to be generally pretty basic, wasn't anything special
Great service that gives a sense of occasion and quick delivery of food and drinks. There was a dj but the music wasnt too intrusive (we were able to talk). Biggest downside was the eye watering £19 for a glass of ordinary Sauvignon Blanc.
food was so so, service was average, and waiters were rushing us to leave. will def not return to this restaurant.
Food and staff was lovely
Ambiance is very cute
Just a bit pricey
We left a bit hungry
Best food we’ve had in a long time!! Everything was an explosion of amazing flavours. Will definitely recommend to everyone.
Lovely venue, food and staff. Come hungry if you’re going for the tasting menu!
We came for diner for my partner’s birthday. I made a reservation a month in advance. And In my booking I have selected the taste of Zela with a bottle of champagne.
When we arrived we’ve been told there was no room left to keep our jackets which was surprising as the restaurant was half full when we arrived at 7pm.
The room is beautiful and we had a seat by a wide window with view on the theatre where Mama Mia plays.
It was cold as we could feel a draft every time the main entrance door was being opened.
We asked for the taste of Zela but we were informed that by the server that the wagyu beef was replaced by a chicken dish.
If you look in the menu there the wagyu dish cost £32 and the chicken one £12. When I raise the concern I’ve been proposed a wagyu sirloin dish instead but the offer was quickly removed as the manager did not approve it.
I had no interest in the chicken, I wouldn’t come to Zela for this. We hesitated at this point between leaving somewhere else and we decided to give it a try and we took on several option on the menu.
The quality of the food and dishes served are definitely NOT worth the price charged for it.
We started receiving all our meals at once. So our warm mains arrived while we were still eating our starters and appetisers. And plate were removed from the table as we were still eating which was rude and incredibly wrong.
I have ordered a chef selection of sashimi, we finished all our meals and had one more drink without any sign of this dish. I had to request it twice to the waiter then I we had enough and decided to leave.
I told them how disappointed as everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong. I’ve been given a card and promised that the next time would be better 😅 this definitely made me laugh.
As there will definitely not be a second time.
This restaurant is a big fail. And I do not recommend it. Buy a kebab instead.
Dear Steve, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We appreciate all the feedback that help us to improve. Please can you contact me ZELA with your contact details and please accept my apology in advance for not meeting your expectations. Kind regards Ahmed Elnozahy
It is like in another world! Such a nice respite on the Strand in central London.
We were attended to with much care from the start outside the door!
Matthias was very helpful in helping us choose the dishes.
All very well presented and delicious.
The in-house DJ provided great atmosphere for a Friday evening.
Will definitely return.
My mom and I went here for our birthday dinner. We chose this restaurant because my mom loves Rafael Nadal and he is one of the owners of the restaurant. We told our server that's why we came and he was super nice and told us everything that Nadal usually orders and we ordered most of it hahaha. The food was really good considering we are from Vancouver where the fish is really fresh and I will say the fish was great here. All of the workers were really really nice, multiple servers would come to our table to refill our water glasses and take away empty plates etc, and the manager even came to our table just to ask how everything was; that was really nice. I would definitely recommend this place :)
Everything perfect:amazing food, excelente service and nice atmosphere. Wood chopsticks maybe is better other material.
Food was OK, stand out dishes were the Quails egg with Truffle'd Nigiri, The platter of Fatty tuna, salmon pieces. The taster menu wasn't worth the £170 for two people in my opinion but you might think otherwise, it's personal preference. I would recommend for the money I spent £270 in total I prefer Nobu and go to £300 with drinks. Zela has a great vibe and the live DJ try's to relate to the young jet set crowd which I guess if fun and hip, probably not if your a much older person though. Worth a visit anyway to try the menu at least once.
I would definitely recommend your outstanding food. I personally thought that the noise level was to high. If you want to attract people over fifties, you have to change the noise level, at least until 11 pm when the vast majority of your customers are coming for dinner (I guess). The look of the restaurant is beautiful and it’s cozy. Very friendly staff.
All the best,
Nice staff and atmosphere.
Highly recommend. Excellent food and service. Couldn’t fault it.
First time dining at Zela and it was a truly pleasurable experience. Lovely food and great service - will definitely return and spread the word to others - a really nice surprise.
Good food bu the music was too loud and the portions were very small
Everything but the main is good.
Good environment and service
The surroundings and ambiance of the restaurant is very good despite on the evening of our booking it was not very busy. The service friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and overall an experience. The wine prices however are too high for what is on offer.
The food was amazing and the service was great my client enjoyed all the food presented and cannot wait to go back
We had a really nice Sunday lunch here. Very not busy so very good for intimate conversation, very attentive staff initially but left us alone after. The omakase sushi and sashimi with a Mediterranean twist were a delight. With the 30% off a la carte it was excellent value. The set brunch also looked to be good but we didn't drink so would have been waste with the free flowing cocktails. Would definitely come back.
Very good food and great service. Love the ambience, lots of plants and greenery & the DJ adds an energetic level. The only downside is with the pre theatre menu they forgot to bring out our starter which we only realised after we left. Overall a great place, shame about the starter!
The restaurant was quite empty so no atmosphere. The service was strange in that they would not leave the soya sauce pot on the table and proceeded to pour only a tiny amount for each person, we had to ask them for more 3 times. They also missed serving one person soya sauce... if you don’t want to leave the pot, at least don’t miss anyone out! Some dishes were outstanding, the tuna sashimi, the yellow tail, the beef. yet the gyoza were rubbery and rather tasteless, we had the prawn and the duck ones. The salmon with burata on a rice cake was strange and perhaps a little out of place in hindsight. I don’t think I would recommend this restaurant nor go back.
Our waiter was very knowledgeable on the food selection and very friendly. Overall great experience with food prices slightly on the expensive side considering only one of us had an alcoholic cocktail.
Second time in a week! Last Saturday night after the theatre play, I was walking around with my partner when we discovered ZELA. Decided to go in for drinks because the vibe was very energetic and the place was completely full. The cocktails are top. I had a Coco Chanel -OMG! And my wife an Espresso Martini. The Bar tender was great: attentive and made us very good recommendations. So we booked a table for yesterday straight away. Our experience: this is a MUST!
Starting with the lovely hostess, who received us with a big smile and looked happy to see us back. The service, simply perfect. One more time, we received the best recommendations possible. We asked for a kind of tasting menu, but lighter. Boom! Our waiter prepared a five star dinner with our preferences paired with a nice red wine. The night was an spectacle of colours and flavours: Edamame with the spanish sauce, salmorejo, really pretty duck gyozas, nigiris with quail egg and truffle, rice chips with salmon and burrata -super fresh...(mmm I can't remember all we ordered) and then, what a meat! My wife ate one of the most tender meat we have never tasted before. We also share the Miso Black. It was very tasty and fresh. We will be back for sure, and soon! Next time, we will invite friends and hope to get a table for a Friday night.
