ZA ZA TA
Experience a soulful blend of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine that brings a distinctly modern twist to centuries-old flavours, designed to be shared and savoured amongst friends.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we will only be offering a takeaway option. We sincerely thank you for your on going love and support.
ZA ZA TA. A place where wonders never cease.
fable shawarma, traditional pickles
spiced slow braised tomato, herb salad
pomegranate, nuts, honey
The food was sublime. Our server, Gabrielle, was knowledgeable, friendly, and recommended exactly the right amount of food. Can't wait to return.
Probably the most delicious food I’ve ever eaten and the service was fantastic.
Great food, great service and really good ambience. Would thoroughly recommend.
Food is always wonderful. A big tick from my 3 middle eastern friends. A bit of a shame about the waitress‘throwing’ the food and accompaniments on the table with no explanation and flouncing off! Had to call her back to explain everything
Don’t let that put you off. The wait staff normally explain what is what and what little side dishes accompany each serve. She was an exception.
This is still my fav restaurant in Brisbane. Breakfast or dinner- fabulous food
Fantastic service, the most incredible food and such a cosy space for dinner with my family. The staff did everything they could to make sure we had a fantastic evening and were very accommodating to seating us in a space away from the busier area so that we could enjoy a cosy dining experience. We had the chefs special and would absolutely recommend it. Wonderful evening, will definitely be back.
Great food. Outstanding service. I'll be back soon 😁👌
Very nice, although thought prices were over the top... $16 for a plate of lettuce and $17 for a plate of tomatoes !
The staff wore masks, which we appreciate; they must be very hot and uncomfortable for the staff, so we were grateful that they wore them. However, their voices were so muffled by the masks that — even when we asked them to speak up — we couldn’t hear them over the music. We made bad menu choices because we couldn’t hear the answers to our questions about the menu items. The solution is simple. The music needs to be turned down during this period that staff are required to wear masks.
food was spectacular. Never eaten anything like it ! We did the chefs banquet and every meal just got better and better. Could not recommend enough. Ben was also super lovely and entertaining as were all the other waiters/waitresses
Absolutely delicious. Did not miss the meat.
We celebrated Father’s Day with our 4 adult daughters at zazata. Three of us had the avocado on sourdough with a poached egg and the other three had the shakshuka.
Both dishes were nice just found the labneh with the avocado and the shakshuka itself a little overpowering on the smoky side. We have had these dishes previously elsewhere and not found them to be that smoky.
Service was good.
Excellent twist on some Mediterranean
What an absolutely hidden gem
Great place for a date night, delicious food and nice atmosphere!
My partner and I enjoyed a great night out at Za Za Ta last Friday. We had the charcoal oyster mushrooms, cauliflower and pumpkin dumplings. We were a little disappointed by the serve of the dumplings, as you only get 4 tiny pieces. But the charcoal oyster mushrooms were divine and blow our minds. Thanks for having us. We are definitely coming back.
Food was delicious and the service was excellent very friendly and fast. Would recommend
We had the chefs choice and everything was amazing! Made me consider becoming vegetarian
Delicious vegetarian food, great staff, amazing cocktails. Could not fault this place. Highly recommend.
Delicious food and top shelf service - highly recommend!
Absolutely love the new vegetarian menu! The eggplant dish was incredible, we were both so impressed!
Delicious, fresh dishes. Meals came out in record time. Sublime cocktails. Great service.
Outstanding service from all staff! Beautiful food, although servings were a little on the small side. Great cocktails & wine selection. Will be going back for sure!
Za Za Ta ticks a lot of boxes, gorgeous venue, good vibes, really good service. Why a successful restaurant with a loyal following after being incorporated into the Ovolo hotel chain would decide to go full vegetarian is bizarre. Although to be fair given the pumping numbers on a COVID times Friday night it’s not seemingly hurt it’s popularity. The food had the same middle eastern vibe but for me was not as exciting nor as well executed. I personally found the addition of cold soft poached eggs to mezze dishes confusing.
I wanted to love it but I wouldn’t rush back for dinner and to be honest if I’m going to a restaurant for breakfast I like at least the option of pork offerings.
Nowhere do they seem to advertise they have gone completely meatless, even the website still highlights the fabulous octopus. Normally I would never leave a negative review but this was such a bizarre choice for a corporate decision I cannot help but say WTF. At least 80 percent of diners eat meat why would you not cater a significant portion of your menu to please. You could easily cater to both.
It was enjoyable, but not memorable. I’d still go for drinks and a mezze plate anytime though, it’s a good times venue.
I’d be one of many I’d think who’d like still like to say - please bring back the octopus!
The staff were fantastic especially, we loved the personalised experience. The food was delicious!
Absolutely delicious! We chose the Chefs Menu and it was perfect, but make sure you go on an empty stomach - we were stuffed by the time all the dishes came out. Highly recommend for Vegetarians, as there is a great array of flavours.
Delicious food & beautiful restaurant. Service was great even though they were busy with a wedding on also.
I personally didn't like the food. My gf did. Wouldn't go there again.
Tasty food, small portions and over priced. Lovely venue and good service.
Delicious food. Great service. Good vibe. Thanks for a great dinner.
Welcome back, we have been counting the days! Once again zazata never disappoints. There is a shift to 100% vegetarian that is innovative and delicious. No doubt the ‘pretzel’ and chicken murtabak will be missed but the halloumi and the yemini bread are spectacular thank you again chef for some of the best food in Brisbane
Service wasn't good. People next to us were service before us although we arrived and ordered before them. 4 of the 6 things we ordered we were told where not available, at different times. Nothing advertised the restaurant was vegetarian.
This meal was so disappointing. We had been here before and had a great meal but it has since been taken over by the Ovolo hotel group and turned into a vegetarian restaurant. I don't have a problem with vegetarian food, we used to eat regularly at Transformer in Melbourne, but it needs to be done well. The service so slow from the start, after about 15 minutes the wine arrived in a 500 ml carafe, we'd ordered a bottle, 5-10 minutes later the bottle arrived but it was the wrong wine, it did'n't get much better. The entrees were bland and lacked balance, the main course was even worse. We'd been recommended the cauliflower dish, it was over boiled, still wet and lacked any taste. My mother in law can prepare better food and I usually eat before we go there so I don't have to eat when I'm there! The food was truly terrible, it is difficult to find the words to describe just how terrible it was. I think the staff possibly aware of how bad to food was, they did appear uncomfortable and embarrassed when we left. We were so disappointed, it was once of those experiences where we'll never be able to eat there again even if it was under new management, kitchen staff and menu just based on this one experience. We have come as close to as possible to having 'post dinning' PTSD!
We had heard really good things about Zazata and leading up to the booking time we had an email to say what to expect on the menu but when we arrived it didn’t feel like we were expected and we were given the menu that looked completely different and all vegetarian.
We had a really lovely staff member serving us, she was delightful and really helpful with the menu!
Interesting dishes and a beautifully designed restaurant and bar area. It was a great culinary journey, a couple of dishes missed the mark, but it was a very enjoyable evening and the atmosphere is fun and cruisey. I could live in the lounge area, super cosy.
So good! The food was amazing, staff were so kind!!
Yes! The food and ambience was incredible and the host was very knowledgeable and helpful.
Musings on Za Za Ta ...🤔
This wasn’t my first visit to Za Za Ta and I can assure you it won’t be my last 😋
With friendly staff, modern decor and a food you won’t find anywhere else, this funky upstart is shaking up the Brisbane food scene. 👍🏼👏
The Israeli/Mediterranean fusion is a stroke of true genius and caters vegetarians 🥦and non vegetarians 🥩🍗🦐.
The drinks list is broad and similarly unique.🍺🍸🍾
The menu is well thought out and prefect for sharing for small and large groups alike. Set menu options are those who want to put the journey into the chefs hands. 👨🏼🍳
On this visit, there were a couple of new dishes that elevate an already excellent menu to the next level. 🤯
I must confess that when eat @dariomancachef food (and I have often) I hear music, the tastes, textures and depth of flavour are truely remarkable and downright heavenly ..🤩😍
ITS A MUST VISIT FOR ANY OCCASION
The meal was delicious the first time I had gone here, and the standard maintained for food and ambience. The only fault I can point is that the service was not as top notch as my first visit. We had the banquet and the waitstaff had the knowledge to help recommend certain dishes - however they did not check up on us throughout our dinner for our drinks and often times we found ourselves having to wait to catch their attention to get water. Again, not the worst thing to happen. But it would have been better if at each round of dishes served we had a refill or a bottle of water for us.
Ambient is very relaxing and clean, food is well thought and service is excellent.
Amazing food, great atmosphere, awesome desert and best of all friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will be back soon for more :)
I really enjoyed our Saturday lunch here. Lovely service. I had the set lunch with Harissa chicken. The food was delicious and warming with the yummy spices. The bread was warm and flakey, olives and dips paired nicely. It was quite rich so it would've been good to have some kind of greens or salad included in the set lunch or recommended as a side to cut through the richness. I'm keen to come back and try the dinner menu!
