British
Nestled between Regent’s park and Camden Town in North West London, Gordon Ramsay’s York & Albany restaurant is a former 1820s coaching inn that's been transformed into a well-appointed townhouse restaurant, bar, hotel and terrace.

The Georgian townhouse, built by historic British architect John Nash, has been re-decorated by Russell Sage. From awesome arches and gilded mirrors through to vaulted ceilings and restored furniture, there are many areas within the venue to suit your needs with two private dining rooms and a hidden courtyard, in addition to the restaurant and large open bar.

Menus focus on modern British food and guests can dine all day, from breakfast through to dinner.

Alas the chef was having a bad food day that not even great service could cover for. Poor quality meat, flat and heavy Yorkshire pudding, uninspired vegetables. On a positive nice cocktail.

Booked Sunday lunch for two people with a deal offering 2 courses for £19 or 3 for £23.
On arrival, I showed waiter offer on my mobile and he seemed confused saying that it was a la carte or a limited menu for £30 for two , starter and main.
We opted for the former and ended up paying a lot more than the original offer.
Food was excellent but service a bit slow.
Reluctant now to book any further OpenTable offers as the restaurant didn't appear to honour them.

This was a lovely afternoon tea but what let it down was that the sandwiches were not freshly made and therefore the tops were all hard. When we asked, the waitress said they had just been made? With hard bread then ? And only one slice?

Great for a relaxed breakfast - plenty of menu choice, nicely presented and tasty, and our two servers were very attentive (and funny). If only they would serve a cafetiere of coffee for one/two it would be close to perfect.

We had a nice dinner at York & Albany. I only regret the fact we were not told upon being seated that several of the items of the menu were no longer available. It was a bit of a surprise considering the menu does not feature that many dishes and I think it wouldn't have bothered us that much if we had been told straight away. Service was friendly and food was of good quality. I probably won't return as there are better options in London but it's a nice place in this area, nonetheless.

Everything took SO LONG.... Even though it was pretty empty and the food was also well below average
Firstly, it took ages to even get a menu. Then, the food took ages and the order was wrong, even though we asked for well done eggs several times! They didn't bring the toast with the rest of the breakfasts and again, the toast took AGES to arrive. Generally inattentive waiting staff apart from one French waiter who was eventually given to us and he was excellent, but it was frankly too little, too late. When it came to paying the bill, guess what... We had to ask for the bill THREE TIMES and we were in a rush because everything else took so long. The only real highlight was the chocolate brownie, which was great, but otherwise, well below average and I expected a lot better!!! Won't be going back or recommending this and expected so much more from a Gordan Ramsey restaurant... This was a kitchen nightmare!!

I would only recommend for people with children, or people who wanted the best option very close to the Zoo ;-)
The food is good, but unremarkable. The warm bread rolls go a long way to increasing satisfaction!

The service needs a bit of work--asking intelligent questions could make for a better experience for all involved. Only 2 people on our 12-person table ordered salads, but they were served as starters so everyone else sat waiting for their food. Somewhere else, the server would have quietly asked those 2 people if they preferred to start with their salad or serve simultaneously with the main course.

Perhaps the server didn't have any experience with large tables, as she was clearly confused by the orders several times. But she was very friendly the whole time, and in all I would definitely return (with children).

We were four people and a child. Initially the service seemed good, then everyone disappeared. Our meals started to come out one at a time with a long wait between. The roast dinner was very mediocre, the pizzas mostly OK. We had ordered olives as a starter and had to track a server down to get them after the first couple of meal’s arrived. When we started to explain the manager started talking over us explaining that we had been told there were two different kitchens? We were not, but regardless we went into a (supposedly nice) restaurant, ordered from one server and our meals came out in 3 batches! The first two were finished before the last was delivered. Is it our problem they have two kitchens? Can’t they figure out how long pizza takes and make everything come at the same time, or even within a few minutes? The customer service was awful, they talked instead of listening and did not know what to do once they realized they had screwed up. They never apologized throughout the whole thing. They never let us even finish our story. In the end they cut our bill by 50% but the meal was ruined and our moods too. No apology. No understanding. No acceptance or accountability. Poor service. Poor customer service. I guess this famous chef better get control of the basics or he will be following Jamie Oliver (we always had a good experience at his restaurants).

Overall really good. Second visit there and enjoyed our afternoon throughly. Only real criticism was that that cutlery wasn’t sharp enough to cut through the crisping on the pork belly. Or it was over cooked and too hard to cut. Tasty nonetheless.

We sat there for 20 minutes to get served. Restaurant was empty. But servers were too busy discussing and preparing for service than serving the few tables there. The table of 2 next to us gave up and left. English breakfast was good. But not worth 50 pounds for two. Restaurant chairs also full of crumbs. Very disappointed. Gordon would not have been impressed.

New to the neighbourhood, live not far away. Was our first time going to York and Albany, although we ate once at the related bottomless pizza restaurant next door. While everything was ok, that’s what was the problem, it was just ok, and we expected more given the pedigree, not to mention that everything we ate was 30-80 percent more expensive than other restaurants in the same area, presumably because Mr Ramsay owns it, so value for money was horrible. One of the most frustrating things that should never be, at least in my mind, is ordering a wine on the menu, and them saying that they don’t have it, but of course they do have something similar, just more expensive, although they didn’t say that, they just brought it as the only option — how much time does it take to cross out wines that you don’t have? Can’t say we will ever go again, which is too bad, because we eat out frequently, and it is not far away. They should focus on getting the basics right, and not just trade on the owners name.

Had the seabream, portion was pretty small and with an added side was approaching £30, the dessert was around £8 for a chocolate brownie which was pretty basic. Found the meal pretty comparable to a standard chain restaurant for about twice as much money. Sunday roast is nicer. Service was great, very lovely staff.

So chic !
Bref note finale de 110 £ qui me reste encore sur l’estomac donc conseil, passez votre chemin. Il y a tellement de bons restaurants à Londres ...

The seasonal menu offer is good value. I like the option to have a half litre carafe in a range of wines as well as by the glass. I may be a bit out of touch with cocktail prices but was surprised to pay £10.50 for an admittedly excellent amaretto sour. This was on the blackboard as a special but without a quoted price. My fault as I should have asked but it was still enjoyable.

Overall this was a very underwhelming experience. Came here about 8 years ago and had a wonderful meal, but this was very different. Meal for four people, 3 courses and sides (minus one starter) came to just under £200 - including service charge but food only. This should have felt like a fantastic meal. Unfortunately it was very ordinary.

Salt and Sichuan pepper squid at £11 was bland with no hint of Sichuan pepper. Pork Belly wasn’t particularly interesting and the skin wasn’t very crispy. Triple cook chips are normally lovely and crispy on the outside. These were just ordinary chips. At £29 the Sirloin was fairly bland. Sticky Toffee pudding was standard. And finally the Cheese board... very disappointing. I don’t mind snacking on a Jacobs cream cracker at home, but at a Gordon Ramsay Restaurant... Really? And the three cheeses were very bland and wouldn’t be out of place in the supermarket budget section.

Overall this wasn’t a terrible meal, and I realise this isn’t a high end Gordon Ramsay offering. But for the cost and his reputation, this was nowhere near up to scratch.

Came on Valentines day. Meal was ok but quite expensive for quality - at that price it feels more lile it is Gordon’s day than lovers day...
Total meal cost was just above £200 for 2 people and I think a fair price for it would have been in the £100 mark.
It wasn’t bad, just not the quality i would have expected at that price. Better experience at heddon street kitchen for example.
