Yellow Ratings and Reviews
I took my sister to Yellow for her birthday. As she is a vegan we went for the vegan tasting menu which was superb! (Note: I am not vegetarian/vegan). The chef has a serious understanding of food and flavour. I can't choose a favourite dish - they were all delicious, although you can't go past the eggplant and the pink lady terrine (for dessert). The wine list is fabulous and goes perfectly with the food. This is one of my favourite restaurants.
Quite frankly very disappointed. The food was quite aromatic however when eating the flavours were missing. We were there on valentines day and had the degustation. The 4th course had millet which was like have a mouthful of ball bearings. Way too crisp.
The worst part. The service. I knew they were having two sittings but the service was courteous and smiley but extremely annoyingly pushy. We had 3 courses in 30 mind and they were pretty much offering coffee with two to go.
Food was exquisite, everything wonderfully prepared and immaculately presented. Staff were exceptional, attentive and so lovely; ambience was charming. An amazing dining experience for a special occasion, we'll be recommending it to everyone and can't wait to return.
We enjoyed the 5 course tasting menu to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were blown away by each of the dishes and the wine pairing. I'm not a vegetarian but my husband prefers vegetarian dishes. I was pleased with everything that came out - the dishes and tastes were really unique and amazing. We would definitely go back!
The service was lovely and we were made to feel at home. Staff were knowledgable about the dishes and the wines.
The food was amazing! Interesting and inventive, but most importantly...tasty! Can't say how happy we are to see exciting things happening with vegetables.
The food here is prepared with such passion it is evident in all the delicate and robust flavours and varied ingredients. Each plate is a taste sensation and beautifully plated. You are eating food that has been crafted to a level that makes the whole experience really special.
Let me start by saying my partner's an omnivore, but I'm vegetarian so we eat 'vego' quite often as he's not opposed to it. I imagine it must be more difficult to make a vegetarian dish appealing to all taste-buds than it would be to cook a steak perfectly, & Yellow manages this amazingly well. The food was superb; each dish was a taste sensation, the different flavours on each plate complimenting each other rather than competing. The presentation, too, was incredible, as was the service.
Great experience last night for anniversary dinner with my vegetarian wife. 5 course degustation menu was masterful mix of textures and flavours, in spite of the "simple" ingredients. There is nothing like it in Sydney. Be aware, the menu changes daily, so be bold and put yourself in the chef's more than capable hands like we did, and beaafran
Without doubt the most innovative, delicate and delicious vegetarian food I’ve tasted. Degustation menu that keeps presenting the highest standard of taste without feeling replete. Extremely satisfying and sublime food. Thank you to all at Yellow - you are extraordinary!
For the vegan tasting the last main course dish with ?aduki bean and a black rice wafer was not enjoyable, was heavy and the flavours did not seem to blend. The dessert with mandarin jam and coconut ice cream arrived as a "blob" on the plate and had too many almonds on the top which made the whole dessert experience dissapointing, but did have nice flavour.
Otherwise the food was lovely, delicate and interesting.
Firstly we felt rushed, it was hot inside we requested to move outside, Greg the waiter smashed the wine glass on our table, the matching wine was bought out twice we pulled them up on it.. it wasn’t the best experience and defiantly won’t be going back for that kind of service at $200/head!
At least I can say I’ve tried it and tell people of my experience.
The food here is a beautiful, thoughtful, fine dining twist on vegetarian food, we had the 7 course degustation menu which was great value and lovely
In the main, the service was aloof and unfriendly, we felt unwelcome, we had to ask what the dishes were several times because the delivery was rushed and disinterested, among many other small things that made the dining experience less lovely than it could have been.
Fantastic meal! Three of us had the 7 course degustation with matching wines/non alcoholic drinks. Each course was a pleasure unto itself. The staff were knowledgable and educational, maintaining a professional but light hearted interaction throughout the meal while also leaving our table to its own conversation.
It was a pleasure to eat at a restaurant that has no qualms about manifesting it's own unique identity, a willingness to be inventive and creative without sacrificing the basics.
The staff were excellent and the food was very interesting. I wouldn't say I loved the food but it was good. All of the dishes are very bizarre and my taste buds just weren't sure what to think. It was a lovely place though with an excellent atmosphere for a fancy Friday date night.
Fantastic service, fantastic drinks and most importantly fantastic food! I hate eggplant and they made it taste phenomenal in one of their dishes. The juice parings with our tasting menu were so on point it was out of this world. There was so much harmony.
Staff made you feel welcome and handled our tables requests with ease.
The atmosphere was warm, friendly and relaxed. The music played was really good, it had everyone in a great mood
