Wm. Farmer and Sons
My partner and I had the most delicious meal in the most romantic atmosphere at Wm. Farmer and Sons. We were shown to a quiet corner table and the staff were all so polite, knowledgeable and friendly. Our meals were beautifully prepared and presented. We certainly hope to return soon.
Great little restaurant with good farm to table options
One of the best in Hudson! We come here every time!
The food absolutely incredible. The bone marrow and snails tasted like heaven, chicory salad was great and the steak was perfect.
Everything was great...
Only wish I could substitute the cottage fries with mashed potatoes or baked potato.
A true gem, highly recommend! Absolutely order something off the cocktail list
Great dinner in Hudson as part of a day trip from manhattan! Our party enjoyed the duck confit and great wine selection. Be sure to make a reservation
I have been here often, but Friday was the best ever. The hamachi appetizer was spectacular. The lemon dessert was memorable — keep it on the menu!
The duck confit was good, though a bit greasy for my taste (my own fault — that’s what confit is). Lovely server, good drinks. I will be back very soon.
We loved it! Everything was delicious and we will be talking about it for months. In particular, the octopus pot pie (!)
Terrible atmosphere, rude waiter and sub par food at a high price.
I loved everything about dinner here, except that despite making our reservation about a month in advance, I was seated almost directly across from the brightly lit steps that led into the kitchen. The place is so beautifully decorated and the ambiance is so lovely that having these bright lights and ugly lockers in my view took away from it somewhat. I should have thought to ask for a different table upon arrival, but the jarring brightness and ugliness didn't occur to me until it seemed too late.
Food was excellent and so was the service.
Excellent as always. Bartenders are masters of their domain. Keep the burger on the menu 24/7!
This place is gorgeous but the food is pretty esoteric and the prices are quite high.
33rd anniversary. Treated us like royalty.
Delicious food and drinks! We were able to have lively conversations to make the evening fun.
A must go in Hudson! I have been coming here for my birthday dinners and it NEVER disappoints.
The staff is AMAZING!!!!! The food is EXCEPTIONAL!
The ambience was classy, the service was on point, and the food was incredible! Recommend the hot dipped chicken - the glaze was so delicious.
Went for brunch. It was good.
Can't wait to go back for the family style chicken!
Absolutely outstanding! Food, service, atmosphere, everything. Highly recommended and look forward to dining there again!
Horrible- plastic and paper tableware ridiculous
Although the food was fine, nothing special, the service was horrendous! Coffee came out ice cold, French fries ice cold...we complained and then the waitress refused to service our table and would send other people out to us. There was no compensation for cold food or terrible service. Food was fine but overpriced.
It was fabulous!!!
This place is a money making machine and you, as the diner, are nothing more than a means to that end. I was suspicious when the host staff all greeted us with earpieces-- which proved to be indicative of the operation they are running (nothing "farm to table about this place). When they couldn't push appetizers on us they rushed the entrees (which they dishonestly told us would take 45 minutes when they were pushing the apps). The food honestly was good -- the noise horrendous. I would never go back and can not recommend it, I have no doubt the weekend Manhattanites who patronize this place will continue to do so. Overall surely disappointing.
The catfish nuggets are amazing and quite a lot. The food is better than the menu reads. It’s a must go to
Menu has gone from eclectic to bizarre.......octopus pot pie?.......lamb neck stroganoff?.......lentil stew for $32? The oysters are fine, the drinks are nice, stay at the bar and you’ll be happy.
From the ‘Native New Yorker’ cocktail to the magical lemon dessert, my partner and I enjoyed every moment of our evening meal. The staff are attentive but never fawning, the room has a particular warmth, and the cooking is exceptional. I’d definitely book for another visit to Hudson.
This is a treat for foodies, with excellent cocktails and a well chosen wine list. Staff are friendly and give accurate descriptions of dishes. The menu is imaginative and favors fresh ingredients in imaginative combinations. The dining room and bar reflect the historical bones of the building, updated for modern tastes. The warm natural tones used in the decor make a comfortable setting for an excellent meal.
Celebrating new job
Lovely selection of hams from different farms! Server/restaurant were unwilling to substitute a side for my husband who has some dietary restrictions, even though we offered to pay for it. Hamburger was off menu—and was a bit dried out. A lot of tables are close together—something we did not expect upon leaving NYC.
Lovey time! We had the loup de mer and the luck and money- both delicious!
Great neighborhood find with an amazing atmosphere, cocktail and food menu.
loved this place! would like to see a fresh fish (not seafood) as an option.
Would recommend this for drinks and a cocktail but the food is overpriced for what you receive.Had the Cobb salad which consisted of a lot of romaine and a few toppings Not impressed. And was our second time there to give it another try. Most likely will not return
I love to bring friends when they are visiting Hudson .
Great food , beautiful decor and friendly staff .
Wm. Farmer offered an outstanding Southern influenced menu in the North Country and the food totally delivered on the promise. Our server, and I realize that he doesn't serve everyone, was also outstanding.
If you are jaded by the standard fare offered in most upstate NY and New England restaurants, try the Farmer. You won't be disappointed.
Really enjoyed this restaurant! The food was spectacular and beautifully served.
Liked this place. We are in our late 50s, and we were definitely the oldest diners. Although I should add we had an 8:45 PM reservation and maybe our peer group had eaten earlier. But having a younger vibe definitely made the place better. Only issue we had was wait staff AFTER we were served dinner. Our waitress was very nice, answered all my wife's questions. Drink and food came out perfect, but then she disappeared. Never asked if I wanted another glass of wine, and we waited a solid 20 minutes after finishing dinner before our plates were taken. Had to wait another 15 minutes before we were asked about coffee/dessert, and when I finally got her attention to get the check she came back with the credit card slip and didn't leave me a pen to fill in the tip amount and sign - and yes, it took 10 minutes to get the pen. Didn't let it really bother me, but it was too obvious not to say something here. Overall, I would go back.
We were in Hudson Celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. We found our table to be tight and we were too close to the people next to us. While the server did bring a champagne for our anniversary and the service was great… My husband‘s double ham selection looked like an appetizer. It was surely not enough food for dinner. I had the octopus pot pie and it was excellent however the puff pastry was separate from the rest of the meal and I found it difficult to consume. I would have preferred the puff pastry be baked onto the crock that the food came in. All in all we felt cramped and a bit rushed.
