For a very expensive experience I truely expected more. Hard to get waitress’ attention at any time. I was given a knife that had a piece of metal jutting out that grazed my finger and it took 10 mins trying to get someone’s attention. Flies were everywhere and ruined the experience. Very expensive for what it was. Received a dirty glass and dirty shot glass for the dessert. I’ve definitely had better high tea food and more of it. Tea was brought out after the food.... would’ve liked to had it with the desserts. Eastern dessert items weren’t nice at all... expected more. Disappointed
Drove down from the Hunter Valley with visitors from the UK to the Hydro Majestic and Wintergarden. We were all very impressed with the decor, the history, the attention to detail in the restaurant (thank you for cloth tablecloths and napkins), the friendly staff and the exceptional food. Whilst a fixed menu, the selection available accommodated broad food tastes, and was beautifully cooked and presented. Our London guests were very impressed. We will definitely be back for the winter season.
Great location, wonderful views from a window table but if you are after a real English High Tea, then forget it. A large curried egg sandwich wedge does not suit High Tea. Dainty cucumber sandwiches did not exist, replaced by a triple decker square of bread and a slice of cucumber within. No little dainty cakes other than a smashed excuse for a macaroon where something had gone terribly wrong. Very disappointing at a cost of $110 for 2 people.
High Tea at this location is a great experience. Very relaxing.
Brilliant Experience, Enjoyed our high tea by the window.
It was a little hot inside, the air con being abit stronger would have been nice
But all in all amazing!
Afternoon tea was awesome, and you can't beat the view!
Given a hightea gift voucher for my 50th birthday in December 2018 from my daughters, was very impressed with the view, value and comfort that i had to bring my dearest friends back in Jan 2019. Service was excellent. Thankyou for a great experience on both occasions.
Wonderful afternoon tea shared with family visiting from England. Highly recommended.
Thoroughly enjoyed a special birthday gathering for High Tea at the Hydro Majestic. We were well looked after and special attention was made for the birthday girl. Thank you for the lovely service and the wonderful ambience.
Lovely High-Tea. Amazing Views. Will be back again.
Our 3rd Wedding anniversary High Tea Dining experience was fantastic. Beautiful Food and Views. My first time to The Hydro Majestic and it will not be my last
Back a second time here; loved the seasonal changes to the high tea menu, especially the Christmas theme. Had a great afternoon out with my family and would highly recommend. The view over the valley is beautiful too. There were only one or two of the bit size items I did not like, for example the salmon, however this is because I don’t like salmon/most fish
For the price was a bit disappointed with quality of high tea
We cannot fault the ambiance or staff however the food itself was quite poor in quality. We thought perhaps we received the Xmas leftovers.
The scones were a bit stale and some meat on the savoury platter didn't seem fresh
To pay $130 for two with below par quality was disappointing.
Outstandingly good loved the whole experience have talked to other friends and recommend we all go soon
Lovely afternoon, the staff were great! We had the gluten free high tea, and it was delicious
A lovely location with a fabulous view just the perfect venue for a celebration of a special occasion with family and friends.
Great food beautifully presented, attentive staff, warm ambiance.
Lovely view of the valley, restaurant was beautiful Lyndon decorated for Christmas. High tea was delicious. Can’t fault it.
Incredible view with wonderful food and service. A wonderful place to visit for High Tea.
Visited for my 25th wedding anniversary. What an experience, the staff were lovely and the food was AMAZING!
The room was smallish but in keeping with the era.
An absolutely fantastic time, thank you for making the anniversary so special.
I thought it very poor that a two course menu option for $75 did not include sides (vegetables). If the meals were individually priced then this may be understandable. However to think that the cost of a two course meal for a couple was going to be $150 and then be told there was an additional cost to purchase sides seemed inappropriate and culturally money pinching.
Had a wonderful lunch at the Hydro Majestic, I would highly recommend it. The live piano music was a particular bonus - keep that up!
High tea at the Hydro Majestic was amazing. It was quiet and had excellent service, exquisite food and an incredible atmosphere! They catered for my mums food issues and gave us a very personal experience! Outstanding!
Lovely but very pricey for water. Food was beautiful. Service was just ok.
Overall we enjoyed ourselves and the room was quiet and relaxing. We had to work to get the attention of some of the wait staff. I know it wasn't busy but it would have been nice not to have to wave from across the room.
The chicken parcels were nice but the other sandwich with ham was a bit strange. The dessert was ok.
I have bought visitors to Sydney to High Tea at The Hydro Majestic many times.
The food presentation is excellent as is the Winter Garden Room.
We had high tea and it was lovely, it gets a bit too noisy with the band playing to have conversation. We were almost charged a bottle of wine we did not have only that I noticed. It was fixed up on the day
We had High Tea, both traditional and eastern and both were a great choice.
service excellent and food was really good
We will do it again
Friendly service and proactive staff. Food is ok but not outstanding, needs more creativity and larger portion. The food is not value for money. Would be lovely to have more fancy teaware.
Great day out for my Birthday. Would recommend to friends and family. Hope to return soon.
We always have the best time. The staff are excellent especially the Irish concierge and Camille our waitress. The decor is stunning and the high tea perfect
Wrote a special requests form prior but only one of the special requests was listened to. Overall this experience was worth no where near 180 dollars for 2. The food was nothing special unfortunately. I did appreciate the waiter swapping out the mini coleslaw burger things on our high tea as they smelt absolutely foul. This was our second time having high tea and the quality of food has dropped since our first visit in 2016. Don't think we will be back unless something serious is done about the food. Also the jelly dessert cups were not set. Tipped mine out and the bottom layer was pink water. Very poor. Also didn't like having to order tea options as we sat down. Would prefer to ponder the menu and think about it.
A memorable visit in exquisite surroundings with delicious food & sparkling wine and breath-taking views.
Great birthday experience and first time to Hydro Majestuc
Food and service was excellent. Portions were on the small side but they were fine for my wife and I. Anyone that has a good appetite may leave a little peckish.
First impression in the foyer was not great. The tree was being erected. There was a huge building apparatus. People were crowded in the room. Once we were at our table it was lovely. The view was amazing.
The High Tea food was delicious, apart from the dry bread in the sandwich.
My mother-in-law who was celebrating her 70th asked a waitress to have a hotter pot of tea as she said hers was warm. Instead of just saying “Yes, certainly, I’m sorry it was warm”. The young girl argued and said “It is hot. Your tea would not be really hot because of the cold milk”. This was not a positive start.
Everything else was lovely.
Service not great, wanted a window seat and was denied as you apparently needed to pre book those. We did pre book but didn’t ask for the window. There was a window table that remained empty the whole time. Food was good.
We loved it! The food was beautifully presented & delicious!
There were little aperitifs of complimentary salmon mousse & cucumber entrees served with beautiful bread & flavoured butters to begin our appetite.
The main courses were spectacular & the desserts original & incredible! We are still talking about the exquisite, delicate miniature apples coated in butterscotch & caramel! That dessert was the star of the show! Congratulations! We want those Lilliputian apples everyday!
Had high tea on a non-school holiday Monday and found the service, ambience, table location and view, and certainly the high tea itself, to be perfect. The room itself is very tastefully restored in Art Deco design. Having stayed overnight I noticed that the lighting is beautiful of an evening in the Wintergarden. It is well worth the drive from anywhere in Sydney to experience this charming dining experience in such a beautiful location.
