Made a spontaneous decision to go to The Hydro Majestic for high tea , with my daughter and friend.
Lovely afternoon, yummy food. Great ambience .
Great location and views. Glamorous decor. Very quiet. High tea was underwhelming. Scones were cakey and dry, jam wasn’t sweet, cucumber sandwiches were dry. Staff were distracted setting up the rest of the restaurant for the evening.
The view was breathtaking. One of the four staff who served and greated us was exceptional, the others were only perfunctory at best. The piano music was lovely but too loud which made talking difficult. This should have been picked up by the maître d'hôtel but wasn't acted on. There was a lack of attention to detail with the food. Bread on finger sandwiches too thick, although the fillings were acceptable. Scones too large in size. Without the view - rating of mediocre I'm afraid.
The staff, level of service, the high tea selection, the atmosphere, the view and the value for money made our visit to the Winter Garden most enjoyable. We will be back
I put a note on my online booking that the High Tea was for my Mums birthday & without any further consultation they wrote Happy Birthday on one of the plates when they brought the food out!
Thanks so much it was lovely
BEAUTIFUL FOOD, FRIENDLY STAFF AND SCENIC VIEWS
This is the second visit to the Hydro majestic for High Tea. I just love how beautiful it is and the food is beautiful and presented lovely. Staff are very attentive. Will be one of my favourite spots for a long time to come.
WE were greeted with smiles from the staff all round. Taken to our table by the window and made to feel special. Waiters were very attentive and nothing was a problem. The whole experience was wonderful. The only complaint I have is not enough Cucumber sandwiches :-)
Had a beautiful birthday High Tea experiencing some lovely food and beautiful view.
The staff were lovely and so accommodating . It’s a must do ticked off my bucket list but I will definitely be back 💕
Loved the views.Enjoyed looking at all the changes since our last visit 35 years ago.Food was lovely.
Totally enjoyed my dining experience at the Wintergarden! The service was excellent, the waiter is really patient and friendly with my requests as I was with my toddler. Love the beautiful breathtaking scenary view. Definitely would recommend this place! The food was great since they service both eastern and western hightea. Thanks for the great experience! ❤️
Very elegant atmosphere lovely views great service and food was fresh and tasty.
Winter garden high tea. Food was good, I wouldn't say outstanding. My children had a kids high tea, I feel the children's high tea could have been made adapted to suit younger children a little better, eg a cup cake? View and venue outstanding. Blossom tea was my highlight.
In one word - fabulous
Friendly, efficient service without feeling intrusive.
A well restored and maintained historic setting.
Absolutely amazing and the views of the Megalong Valley are great.
A most enjoyable experience.
We were in the Blue Mountains to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and found the High Tea at the Hydro Majestic a perfect venue for a romantic lunch for two. We were seated at a window seat where the view over the Megalong Valley was unbeatable. The food was beautifully presented and we enjoyed every morsel. Each treat had a distinctive flavour and was a taste sensation. We would recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area.
We really enjoyed our high tea! The ambience was very nice with piano music in the background. The view spectacular, the staff very attentive and food delicious very enjoyable afternoon!
The god was way over priced and very forgetful scenic viewing was only really appreciated by those sitting at the window. No viewing area for those not lucky enough to get window seats
The restaurant was serving high tea. We had the asian option with an equally excellent kosher version created with a couple of replacements by a seafood or vegetarian dish. The view of course is stunning and as the dishes all arrive together you just settle in with your friends without any hurry or fuss. A fantastic service, almost overwhelmed by the setting and old world ambience.
Unfortunately, we were not made feel special for the price we paid. We had a lovely table by the window which was the most pleasing part about the experience. The staff did not take the time to explain the menu options properly and we discovered on exiting that we may have had other options for the same price. It might be a better to ensure the booking option is confirmed before arrival, as it made my mum uncomfortable to know how much we paid for our dining experience.
Amazing, went for mother’s day and would 100% go again
Have been to High Tea here twice in the last 7 months, love, love, love it. So relaxing, food is devine, menu changed for season, but didn't vary much. The view is exquisite, service excellent, staff are wonderful.
The food is lovely however the service, whilst professional, lacks warmth. I put a note on the booking that it was my mum's birthday and did not expect any special treatment however was disappointed that no one wished her a happy birthday.
View is impressive however seating by the window is limited so I would not book hoping on being seated there unless you are with a larger group.
The high tea items were fresh and tasty and my mother and I both enjoyed it however, not sure I will return.
Excellent experience to mark a family occasion. Delightful traditional high-tea, and our request for vegan high-tea courses for a couple of people was also well handled.
Piano music was played at just the right volume.
Our wine order seemed to go astray, but once we asked about it, the bottle & glasses arrived quickly.
We will be back.
Had a 1pm reservation for high tea but our table wasn't ready until 1:25pm. Service overall fairly poor and food good but nothing special. There was a pianist playing too loudly drowning out conversation. However, the setting and views are spectacular! Such a beautiful place, which is ultimately what you're paying for.
The food and view were 10/10, the level of service was poor
Fabulous atmosphere and views. Real old world charm.
Live piano was very nice but too loud - it should be background music rather than something to have to talk over.
My friends and I booked the Wintergarden high tea on Sunday. We were booked in for 2:00pm and asked to be seated by the windows. The view, decor and food was amazing and I would definitely go again. We had nice waiters and there were live musicians playing, at a nice sound level.
We were treated as special guests of the establishment. Very special venue and menu for a special occasion.
High Tea with arguably the best views not only in Australia but the world. High Tea at Wintergarden is a unique experience primarily due its location. However, the venue itself oozes class.
The room is elegantly decorated. The high end quality feel of the furnishings, cutlery, décor, and well dressed, maitre d's oozes classy ambiance.
Various types of high tea available to carter to the most fussiest of foodies. And for a little extra, are unique teas to be had.
I highly recommend.
The food and location were great. Staff were focussed on a tour group who were obviously booked into the hotel, leaving us to flag down staff for service. The room was also cold.
Beautiful location. We felt very special, decor, food and service were wonderful. Thank you
Early dinner at the Wintergarden, followed by live music at the Boiler Room.
The meal was sublime and service exceptional!
The live music at the Boiler Room was outstanding; we will definitely be back for more, and to enjoy the tapas menu.
Fantastic service. Amazing view. Quality food. Great variety of places to sit and enjoy the ambience.
They had a gluten free and kids high tea option, the restaurant is beautiful. We were in a corner next to large loud groups which ruined the atmosphere of a high tea. A bit slow serving when pre booked. My daughter didn’t like the food. Didn’t expect seafood so didn’t know to mention no salmon. A bit confusing with the menu
Really enjoyed High tea but thought the service was lacking. Staff need to be more attentive and check more regularly if everything is OK. Food was really good as was the view
Absolutely amazing! Impressed with the location, was placed at the window, they creatively put Bride to Be on the plate as requested! My bride was ecstatic, it was a wonderful, clean, friendly, superb atmosphere and the food was impeccable. We will be back!
With beautiful views and an elegant décor, this High Tea was a lovely experience. The service was excellent, including the ability to change your tea choice on each refill. There were 2 choices for your high tea - the traditional offering and an Asian version. We chose the traditional. The savoury items were delicious but a bit small. The sweet items were beautiful to look at and tasted divine. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to enjoy a lovely afternoon in the Blue Mountains.
