Irish
The Winding Stair is an award winning Irish restaurant overlooking Dublin's famous Ha'Penny bridge. The restaurant originally became a Dublin landmark in the 1970's named after a Yeats poem, giving it some true local history. It opened again in 2006 and became what it is today. Serving micro-brewery beer and food produce sourced from Artisans from the Island The Winding Staircase enjoys sourcing locally. Serving dishes from Marcoom's Irish buffalo mozzarella on their A la carte to roasted pumpkin wedges on their lunch menu there is a great twist on Irish dishes throughout the day.

This is my favourite place in Dublin for a weekend brunch. I would highly recommend it. Service is great and views are fantastic. I love the ambience too.
This time around is was quieter than usual, but as expected in Covid times.
They have a reduced menu and that could be a flaw for some people, but since I am not eating there everyday I can live with it. :-) Delicious bread & butter...

My husband and I had the early bird menu which was very good value. The food was lovely and the service extremely efficient and friendly. I had the salmon terrine starter which was very tasty and the Doran's hake which was delicious and very light. My husband had the black pudding starter which he enjoyed and the duck. We finished up with a cheese board which had a lovely selection of Irish cheeses. Our server was very polite and friendly, so overall a lovely experience.
Oh and an excellent wine selection is also available!
I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Too crowded with tables- noise level too loud to hold a conversation. Food portions small but food was good overall.

This restaurant has the nicest dining room, we were seated on a second floor by a big window with view of river. Food was very affordable, we had Early Bird menu: beetroot salad and smoked salmon terrine for starters, for main we had duck and hake. Everything was excellent, servis was professional and friendly.

As excellent as ever a perfect mix of Irish staples cooked to an exceedingly high standard. The staff where excellent and knowledgeable about both the menu and what wine go best with each dish.

Literally booked The Winding Stair on Open Table 6 mins before arrival. Brian & Noel and all The Team got us settled immediately and when asked to "surprise us" they did so with every course...and every glass of wine. Beautiful setting overlooking the iconic Halfpenny Bridge in the heart of Dublin. Magical!

Food was not usual standard to what I have had before. Two of the table had steaks. One steak was requested to be medium rare and it came well done which is not what was requested. The fish course was ok but not amazing. Ordered the bread and butter pudding which is normally amazing but there were dryer pieces of bread in it than normal.

Return customers and not disappointed as usual. Great service and tables well spaced out due to covid 19 but did not affect the atmosphere of dining room. Quality food and excellent wine selection. Will be back again soon.

Lovely evening in the Winding Stair Restaurant. Food was delicious & staff were very helpful. The restaurant is well laid out for Covid-19 control as it is a large room with plenty of space between tables, but also has a good social atmosphere - definitely recommend.

Excellent dinner on Sunday eve! What a joy to dine in the Winding Stair again! Covid 19 precautions were meticulous and we were warmly welcomed and felt safe and happy throughout.
Black pud and pigs cheek fritters were delicious and still dreaming of the roasted hake with seaweed dumplings!! Super friendly, professional staff and outstanding cooking made this the best dining experience in years.

I had a small bowl of Chowder €15 which was tasteless, and the vegetables under cooked. Main was small but adequate, desert was awful, sickly sweet and microwaved and the wine overly expensive compared to comparable restaurants . overall a bit disappointing

Excellent ambiance and surroundings looking over the river Liffey. The service was friendly and warm. Social distancing measures in place.
The vegetarian options on the menu lacked a little substance or dimension and felt somewhat like afterthoughts on the menu.
However the creative menu shows great promise for future visits so I will be looking out for a new offering to make another visit.

The winding stairs was a lovely restaurant. The service was very good and genuine and the food was outstanding. The ambiance was quiet but that’s only due to the restrictions. I have been there before for lunch and the atmosphere was hopping.

Well...recommended by friends and by the guidebook. Food was quite good, but overpriced. V,good wine cellar. One wait staff member was very good; the other, superior.Even when we had a SMALL negative comment, not even as much as a ‘sorry’, but rather, met with disdain! We’ve dined in some of the best restaurants in the world. If this is Dublin’s best....over-rated, ‘over-indulgent’ and overpriced!
