Selection of premium Portuguese José Gourmet seafood served with house cured seafood, pickles, sourdough & garlic butter
The food was nice as a small meal, but when you are going there for the renowned seafood platter for two and receive 4 prawns 6 oysters and less then a side of fish for the money you paid for a full hot and cold seafood dish with fresh fruit in the past it’s a little disappointing.
One of the best meals we have had ever. Fish cooked to perfection. I’m still thinking about the Pan fried fillet of Kingfish that was the special of the day. The sides stood up as meals on their own. Tasty and amazing thank you!
Incredible food and professional service. Gorgeous location and a fine dining experience all round.
Food was excellent, staff were polite and not over attentive. Would return again.
Very good staff
Food, service and the view were amazing. Thank you.
Our favourite restaurant . We love our platters here . Crumbed sardines were sensational . Great service . Win win
Great atmosphere, staff, food and location overlooking the river.
Fabulous food and made us feel so welcome. We had our 2 boys with us and they were welcomed as well.
Fantastic food and service every time. Would recommend to anyone any time.
Great venue in a great location. Service and food terrific. A very enjoyable experience.
This place could not be faulted. The view was stunning, the service was next level, the staff made arrangements for drinks to come out when meals did (as I requested) gave good recommendations for food combinations too. I will be back and recommending this place to everyone.
The service and meal were excellent thank you the view is amazing
What a fabulous restaurant! The Decor, friendly staff, great drinks menu and fresh seafood was all to perfection! Will definitely be back.
What a wonderful restaurant in a wonderful location. Food was amazing and super delicious, though a little on the pricey side but kind of makes up with its taste. Highly recommended and certainly a lovely night out.
Great location, service, food and atmosphere, would be my regular if we lived in Port Macquarie.
Way too much salt in every dish....and this from a salt fanatic
Our second time here and we had an amazing experience from the greeting, the excellent food options, drinks - everything was to a high standard. The staff were all very friendly and considerate. Cannot fault any part of the night. Already looking forward to our third visit! Thank you to all for making it such a fabulous experience for us.
Stunning setting and location. Fabulous service from the moment we walked in until we left.
Food was outstanding, fresh, modern and exciting.
Can't wait to head back to Port and see what they have to offer
Totally overrated, overpriced and underwhelming experience - average food at the price of a 3 hat degustation dinner - absolutely not worth the effort. Staff and setting is very good though but was not complemented by the food at all.
Outstanding, knowledgeable interactive staff will certainly be returning.
Lovely spot, cool breeze, great food. A really nice experience.
Loved every minute was so lovely food staff ambiance everything was perfect
Second time there, save for special occasions, food is always very good and service tops.
will be back
A wonderful dinner on our last evening away from Sydney.
We requested an inside window table and were directed to a lovely corner table and not long after offered an even better table right against the river side.
Staff couldn’t be more attentive and courteous
An evening and meal experience to remember plus my partner was so relaxed and she expressed to me particularly what a lovely venue and romantic dining experience this visit was for her.

Unfortunately our go to restaurant for celebrating special occasions is not the upmarket restaurant it once was. The facade is still that of a special restaurant but the service and food were nowhere near what you’d expect. Very, very disappointing when you don’t even receive the meal you ordered.
We enjoyed this but our expectations were quite high & unfortunately it didn’t meet our expectations. The chocolate mousse was beautiful as was the roast pumpkin.
The menu is versatile, suit most tastes….having said that we have had exactly the same dishes the last 3 times we have been there.
The service is exceptional, friendly and informative….
The atmosphere , view and decor are all exceptional.
I would recommend the Whalebone to anyone who wants to have a wonderful dining experience….
Consistently great service and fish. Our favourite place to take guests.
Friendly knowledgeable staff, great food and lovely atmosphere.
Great tasting food, really fresh produce and lovely atmosphere
Lovely our favourite restaurant.
Beautiful cant compair
A wonderful meal in a perfect location. Thank you for a memorable meal out with our Mum
First time here, great location but you will pay for it!
Offered water on arrival with a choice of flat or sparkling- $11.00 for water!
Very small entrees - $22
$44 for locally caught Kingfish with a small bowl of chips as a side.
Got the bill - $25.50 Sunday surcharge.
I believe the Stunned Mullet to be better value but as usual; you pay for the view, oh and the renovations!!
Great location on the river, and good food and drinks. Service was a bit up in the air - our first waiter didn't let us know there were specials not on the menu, and we overheard another waitress after we ordered explaining a few special drinks and entrees. Our meal was served without plates or appropriate cutlery. Prices are way over the top though - everything is an add-on or upcharge, and the bottles of wine are 3-4 times going rates. I think the staff are under a lot of pressure to increase drink sales and upcharges throughout. Because of this, it's only a one or two times a year place to go instead of a regular consideration for meals.
Interesting and delicious mix of flavours in seafood. Yum.
The Whalebone is divine!
Quintessential coastal vibes combined with the highest standard of food and service make it our go to restaurant each year when we are in Port Macquarie. The seafood chowder is a favourite!
Nathan and his team always ensure a fantastic experience.
Fab service, delicious food, beautiful view!!!!!!!!!
The food and service was nothing short of phenomenal. We booked online which was very easy for 7 people to celebrate an occasion. We order every main and side on the menu and shared all dishes amongst our family. All 7 of us have become Whale Bone fans, the taste, presentation & service was absolutelyamazing, we will definitely be back! Thank you all for making our day so special...
An absolutely Perfect Lunch. Staff were great, helpful and super friendly.
Well worth it. We recommend anyone to pop in and enjoy all that Whalebone has to offer
