Beautiful Barramundi from Bowan. Great service, with amazing view of Hastings River
We arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation and were shown to our table. It took a further 30 minutes before anyone came near us to take our drink / meal order. The restaurant was not full and there were plenty of staff about, a few chatting.
The Seafood Chowder was delicious. We ordered the Wallis lakes Flathead however were told it was not available & Ling was now on the menu. We always like Ling so did not hesitate to order with Chat Potatoes, King prawns and Grilled greens.
The Ling which is usually thick, was flat and heavily crumbed, I have had better at the local fish & chip shop. The Grilled greens were broccoli only. Disappointing!
We poured our own wine as no one attempted to attend to our empty glasses.
One girl in the restaurant who took our payment was nice & professional however our table waiter was not interested, though I did notice he paid attention to a couple of other tables - perhaps regulars?
We enjoyed a most pleasant evening at whalebone wharf. Food, wine and service were of a high standard, in pleasantly appointed surroundings. We each enjoyed 3 courses of excellent prepared and presented cuisine. If I had one complaint it would be that the main meal portions were of entree size. Fish of the Day (Hapuka) at $42 consequently did not offer particularly good value. Also, when coupled with the "piped music" noise levels were a little on the high side. But overall ambience was fine, and would not hesitate to recommend.
Absolutely beautiful food, amazing friendly service, beautiful scenery. Love going to whalebone! We loved our anniversary dinner.
The Whalebone Wharf is located right on the rivers edge with lovely views of water, birds, boats, etc. With recent renovations, the ambience is very good, with very reasonable noise levels when the restaurant is full. Oh yes... the food! All the dishes we had were delicious (barrumdi, steamed and panfried, Atlantic salmon panfried and the seafood chowder) with excellent shared sides of chips, pumpkin, salad and beetroot. Highly recommended.
We loved our first visit here recently. Such a great find. The food was beautifully presented and cooked. The wait staff very helpful. We loved the interior decoration and the view was lovely. Right on the end of a little wharf. We could watch the fish right outside our window seat. We will be back.
Great view great service friendly staff new there stuff
Delicious meals. Seafood was excellent. It was a little noisy but being a Saturday evening & the restaurant very busy it is to be expected.
A wonderful evening.
My husband & I went on Friday night & even though it was very busy the staff were very attentive & friendly. Didn’t have to wait too long for our meals & food was delicious.
The only thing I could complain about is we were sat in front of the lobster tank and I kept getting wet every time they got the lobsters out.
Service was good (not excellent), food was good (not excellent), just didn't meet expectation according to price. Price would be fine if service and food went up a notch
The décor has been updated and the food is as good as ever
We ordered the SEAFOOD TASTING FOR TWO, it was very underwhelming. It was $175 which would not be an issue if it was actually worth the money we paid.
The food was amazing! I loved sitting there looking out over the river. An excellent experience!
Great food, great atmosphere, helpful staff especially the Covid Marshal. Definitely in the must again list.
Best seafood platter I’ve ever had! Would definitely visit again!
Best seafood platter we’ve ever had, Totally Outstanding! Tasty cocktails too. Sensational & highly recommended
Did not like the service from our waiter. He was obnoxious and when I asked a question about an entree he looked at me like I was silly. The food tasted great but for the price you pay the serving size was so small. Will not go back for those reasons.
Good food and service, friendly staff. Wine options good.Beer options limited, mineral water expensive. Great views. Overall impressions memorable.
Food was awesome, staff friendliness and service was exceptional and outlook was great.
Was so happy with our “table with lovely view” - the staff were very friendly.......BUT......the food stole the
Best food i have had in a long time great views and service
This restaurant did not disappoint. We had the mixed platter for 2, it was amazing, plenty of food and amazing flavours. Staff are amazing and so informative. We couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough.
Wonderful flavours in Entrees and Oysters
Mains a little less delicious but sides were good
Dessert was delightful as well
Fabulous fresh seafood. Friendly service. Delightful evening.
Anything on the menu is absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The seafood tasting platter was unbelievable.
A lovely setting with good food and wine, had a very relaxing night
Food was beautiful. Staff were extremely friendly. A little on the pricy side, but still worth it.
One of my favourite restaurants in port Macquarie. The Seafood platter for 2 is one of the best ever. The selection of fish of the day is always excellent coupled with the beetroot & walnut salad or chopped salad.
Lovely decor. Friendly staff. Yummy food. Surprisingly good desserts.
Excellent seafood and sides!
Pleasant atmosphere! Great location and easy access!
Table service let this place down - after initial drinks were served I had to wait until after I finished my main meal before I could even catch a waiters eye to see the drinks menu again - and then had to catch them later again to order more drinks!
A very nice restaurant right on the river, the waitstaff were attentive but not one server seems to be assigned to each set of tables so different servers brought the different courses including the need for any passing server when it was time for the bill.
Food and drinks were great and brought out not long after orders were made. Definitely recommend but make sure to book 👍🏻
Lovely atmosphere, always great food! So good to take visiting guests :-)
Best lobster and chowder I’ve ever eaten. So fresh.
Absolutely fabulous - best meal I've had in Port Macquarie
This was a really lovely evening. From the service, to the food to the view...everything was perfect. Thank you for making our evening special!
The seafood chowder was outstanding with all elements in the dish beautifully cooked.
The swordfish special I had was cooked to perfection though my wife's kingfish was less so.
The ambiance was relaxed and decor fresh and inviting.
The only thing to be aware of is that prices are on the high side as portions are a tad small for the prices charged.
My partner and I had an amazing night beautiful view, outstanding service and delicious food. Highly recommend Whalebone Wharf Restaurant!
Beautiful food, great atmosphere, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly staff, gorgeous view, great cocktails
