The Whalebone is a place for friends and family to enjoy local, honest food and wine in a relaxed atmosphere, with a world class view.
Outstanding meal, lovely atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. A noisy party in the function room, but no fault of the restaurant. Overall an amazing meal.
The food was magnificent. Great combinations and perfectly cooked. It looked SO good on the plate...and felt SO good going down. I love this place. Pricey, but it didn't hurt to pay.
Was dissappointing, highly overpriced, entree was not cooked properly, wine marked up by app 150%. The waitress service was excellent but overall I would not go back again.
Wonderful waterfront restaurant with nice decor and lovely staff
Beautiful Hamptons decor on the water.
Very seafood centric. I had the smoked ocean trout then the blue eye trevalla with amazing Brussels sprouts cooked with bacon, pickled onions, shallots and citrus vinaigrette (I am copying the recipe). Nice wine list and reasonable prices.
Food and service as good as always.
However portion size for entree is unacceptable. 3 scallops for $24! Pricing is getting unreasonable for food quantities.
Still a nice ambiance and great table service.....
Food was great but service disappointing. Parts of orders were forgotten and then sides arrived after meals were completed.
Exquisite in every way. The food is divine and never disappointes. Treat yourself to one of Port Macquarie's favourite restaurants. The staff have a great balance between professionalism and having fun.
Beautiful. Highly recommend and the best restaurant I've been to. And I've been to Michelin star restaurants! Try the brussel sprouts even if you don't like them, you will after these one's!
My partner had the chowder which tasted great but later made her very ill. It was explained as potato based but when she rang back later she was told it had double cream. She has a lactose intolerance but has not been affected so severely before. I had the fish of the day (kingfish) which was overpriced for a very simple dish.
This is a wonderful restaurant. Fabulous setting right on the water with beautiful decor and ambience. The food was delightful and the service was excellent. We couldn’t fault our visit to The Whalebone.
Great service and incredible food, staff are attentive and nice
Fantastic food. The seafood was fresh and full of flavour. The salads were amazing. Surprised to see how busy it was on a Wednesday night but now know why as the food was amazing. Show cased Australian seafood and could take any visitor from around the world their knowing they would be impressed.
Quality of food and service were excellent, portions could be a little larger. Not allowing BYO is disappointing as wine prices are excessive.
The restaurant is in an excellent location right on the rivers edge.We had a table next to the window and could see fish swimming around which just added to this restaurants very relaxing ambiance. The service was really professional, attentive without being overbearing. The food we ordered in all three courses was excellent, very well presented and absolutely delicious. We would not hesitate to return when we are next in Port Macquarie.
The best seafood platter ever eaten and I have had a few on the Gold Coast noting compares to yours
Very poor service. No flexibility in menu options. Was told that only on menu is what you can order. Only got 1 drink no follow up.
We had heard mixed reports about this restaurant so we thought we’d try it out for our anniversary. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel special by the staff. The meal was delightful. My wife loves Creme Brûlée, and she reckons the one she had here was even better than the one she had at the famous La Coupole in Montparnasse . A bit expensive but well worth considering for a special occasion. Thanks
Great location, friendly and efficient service.
Good selection on the menu and you will not be disappointed.
Love the riverside setting. Seafood options are extensive and we'll cooked.
Whalebone Wharf is always reliable with great food and service at at reasonable price. Highly recommended.
Great place, amazing food and excellent staff who know their food very well and make excellent recommendations, my boyfriend and I really enjoyed our meal
Food was excellent and so was the service. A beautiful place to take our visitors to . Ramps not the best for wheelchairs. Too short and steep.
Lovely setting. Good service. Steak & lemon meringue pudding a little disappointing but side dishes other meals were beautiful.
had the most amazing dinner I have had in years. Walked in to beautiful decor and very friendly staff. Ordered entree and mains which were amazing, followed by desserts. The only problem was that we could have just kept eating, as the food was that good. By far the best meal I have had in a decade. Highly recommend!
We had a lovely night. Our waitress was fun and very attentive.
Nice seafood platter and good wine selection.
The food was fantastic and surprisingly affordable for the outstanding quality.
Best seafood chowder anywhere.
And these words are added to please open tables 50 character minimum
The food was really wonderful but the service was very slow. There were only two service staff on and the restaurant seemed busy for a Wednesday evening. The servers were extremely peasant and could not have done more short of putting roller skates on the zoom about the restaurant. I hope the owners are paying those two very well because they are golden.
Very clever menu and everything was cooked and presented to perfection.
As ever, I had a lovely experience at Whalebone Wharf. I brought a friend from Perth and she was suitably impressed. My favourite special occasion restaurant!
Whalebone Wharf is a favourite dining experience for me and I have never been disappointed. We have been going to the restaurant for almost 50 years! The new makeover - decor and menu - is amazing. The location is superb and the ambience fresh, relaxing and comfortable. The lovely menu and wine list provide for a great dining experience whether for an informal get together or a special occasion. The friendly and attentive service is excellent. Highly recommended.
Visitor I took were very impressed with everything about the restaurant.
Beautifully presented restaurant and food. On the high side for price think $21 cocktails but would recommend
We had wonderful special occasion evening and look forward to returning and will definitely recommend The Whalebone to friends.
Great food and ambience. Unfortunately, they add a surcharge on Sundays and public holidays. They also tried to charge us for a bottle of wine when we only actually had a glass - which was VERY small.
Great food and location. Love the way they do the menu. Will go back
Thanks for a wonderful visit. My Sydney friends enjoyed.
Our table was perfect!!!!........ but where were the Dolphins this visit 😢
A little out of the way but worth the drive. Great selection of food to enjoy.
Very good food in excellent surroundings. We have dined here a number of times and have never been disappointed. However this time we had to send chips back as some were cold.Otherwise the rest of the meal was very good.
