I had a really good experience at Welles St. The staff were very friendly and the 5-6pm happy hour deals are great. Some of the food was good and some was a bit bland but it was pretty good value for what you got!
We dined at Welles St last week and was a great experience. A number of our group are wheelchair users. There was plenty of room, the surplus dining chairs were easily moved out of the way and there were no access issues at all. Would highly recommend here as it is quite rare to find somewhere that is accessible for a large group.
This was perfect for a general get together with food and drinks.
Great night catching up with friends, good casual atmosphere and delicious food with a variety of price points. Friendly, welcoming service and great selection of drinks.
Always fantastic food and service top venue in Christchurch for casual dining!
These guys certainly never disappoint with flavour. We had a combination of large meals and small plates and everything was delicious.Service was friendly and prompt. We enjoyed the adventurous combination of tastes and the freshness of the salads.Great for families as it is a relaxed space, but hip enough for younger customers as well.We have been there several times which has to be a good thing.
Great food, good atmosphere. Really enjoyed it, will be back!
The Middle Eastern brunch menu takeover was DELICIOUS!! Awesome idea and fab food. If you weren’t there, you really missed out!
Great atmosphere and outstanding service. Always a pleasure to dine at Welles st. Of course the food was divine.
Quiet meal on a Monday night with a friend. Made a booking due to being in the Entertainment book. We had a selection of 6 tapas style plates to share and everything was delicious and well presented. My only grumble was that we got a bit cold - possibly a problem in a warehouse style space.
Definitely somewhere I would come back to.
Nice menu, the food was tasty and well priced, counter service only but this did mean the food was ready very quickly. We would definitely return for Sunday Brunch. The Souvlaki was great, generous chunks of meat.
Very tasty souvlaki! Great selection of bets. Xxxxxcxcccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc
It's a nice place. I liked that dogs are allowed inside with the diner's. The meats were overcooked and dry but the rest was nice enough.
The only negative is its just SO loud whilst dining, but that cant be helped when its such a large dining space with concrete floors.
Delish food as always :)
Was greeted on arrival and had a lovely explanation of how to order. Having popular dishes and estimate portion sizes was a great help.
Luckily we booked a table otherwise we would have been awkwardly waiting for one to free up or sit outside in the cold.
Unfortunately a large group of guys waiting for their table right beside us. Very uncomfortable having a meal out and a group of guys standing over you talking loudly.
However, once the guys cleared off and the food arrived it was all worth it! The food was amazing and beautifully presented. We shared the broccoli salad (lovely fresh broccoli), the chop salad (Mums fav!), the cauliflower hummus (my fav, will be getting that again) and the meatballs (only 5, but well worth it for the flavours). The Riesling and Pinot Gris were both delicious.
Overall a lovely night out, beautiful food, nice vibe for the most part. Will be back very soon.
We love eating at Welles Street for it's great chicken meals AND because our dog is welcome there!
Whilst I can't say it was fantastic I can't say it was bad....maybe just not our kind of dining experience for the occassion. I did ring and check with them thru the week if they were taking entertainment book voucher and was told yes they were and we based our decision to go there on being able to use it. On the day they said no they weren't taking entertainment book vouchers that day - the boss told them that morning no vouchers for mothers day and yes i no it says in book it won't be valid but it still is discretionary to the business owner and maybe the boss should have told the staff that week the voucher will not be accepted not on the day? So probably would not be back for dining in the future...it was just an okay not a wow for us!
The noise level was dreadful couldn’t have a conversation with friends as we ended up shouting at each other!!! The seats were very uncomfortable too & we tried several different ones!
Perhaps ok for young families but not for older people who don’t want to shout at each other!!
Great space with a yummy menu. Lovely service too. A place worth supporting
Very enjoyable booked on the morning
One of our tables had a dodgy base but the waitress had pointed that out
Ambience not ambiance in your firm
It was just a great casual environment, partner and I are already going back to check the platter out
Fabulous afternoon with friends. Great variety of food choices and everything was very tasty. We’ll be back.
Delish food and friendly staff. Especially the waiter that sang happy birthday to me 😊
excellent unique venue. creative food, good service. food was a little on the dear side for the portions you got with the mezze, but still a great experience. would definitely go back!
Great atmosphere,a bit loud but notbad.Food and service both outstanding and i enjoyed the house larger
Hard to find. Lovely staff but not value for money. Great beer selection though. I'm very 'meh' about this location. Much better for a night out than for lunch.
The food came out late consider it was a week night and not so many people there. Food is not superb but acceptable.
First time dining and was fantastic, food was great we will be back. definitely recommend!! Well done
Food and atmosphere was really nice. Would recommend Welles St to my friends.
Lovely atmosphere, great food, and great service. The only thing that we struggled with was the volume of the live band. We were in about 5.30pm and the music was very loud and it was hard to have a conversation, we found ourselves leaning of the round table we were seated at.
