Loved our meal and the impeccable service
As lovers of the Lobstet Cave we have found a new favourite .. you also came to our rescue when the tramcar restaurant cancelled our reservation
The Rock Lobster was excellent. The entrees were on the larger side. Water bottles were kept at another table after buying them, which was a pity. Don’t come here to quench your thirst.
The waitress who served us was very rude and pushy, accidentally hit my girlfriend a couple of times when she passed by, made inappropriate jokes, a disrespectful person, collected our plates when we almost finished food (but not yet finished). She made me and my girlfriend very awkward.
She also forced us to check out with her for some reason.
We had been to this restaurant for a couple of times, this time is really disappointing and we believe we will never come again.
Hope you choose the right staffs in the future. The food was really good, service from that particular waitress was extremely terrible.
The food was delicious and the atmosphere vibrant, but not noisy.
Been there quite a few times and have consistently had Great food and great service
Really friendly staff who explained different dishes - we came back the next night with overseas visitors and the staff were very helpful to them
Excellent food & really pleasant service. Location at the river really steps up when the sun is shining
Our favourite restaurant wonderful to share with our realatives from the UK. Thank you again
Great food and service. My steak was cooked perfectly and my partner love her barramundi.
Amazing food and wonderful service. Can’t wait to go back!
The food was incredible, service was a little slow but the food itself made it worth the wait.
Service was excellent, friendly and attentive and not intrusive. Food was exceptional; beautifully prepared and cooked, every mouthful delicious. Thanks for making my husband's 60th birthday dinner the dining event it was!
The Seafood wasn’t fresh
Lovely food and atmosphere . All five people enjoyed their lunch and afternoon.
Enjoyed dinner with Melbourne friends.
From United States
We are here from Kansas City. Took two sets of friends there on different evenings.
Waiter was seriously good value, service was unreal and so was the food
Good ambiance. All of us loved our food. Wait staff were attentive. Would give perfect score for service but we had to wait for a minute or two at the entrance (mall side/back side) to be noticed. Also, a complimentary dessert would have been nice for our birthday girl (a usual experience we get from fine dining restos). Nevertheless, very good experience overall. We would definitely go back for the food.
I have been to Waterfront at Port Melbourne before and have always had a positive experience. My experience at Waterfront Southgate was not as good. The best thing about the experience was the ambience and outside dining with an amazing view of the city at night. In addition it was warm enough with the heaters which allows you to enjoy eating outside and the view all year round. The food however was not as good. I had the Tuna which was presented well but lacked flavour. For $44 the dish was way over priced and did not provide the taste and flavour and value I would have expected. Most meals on the menu were $40 or over which I felt was very expensive for the quality. The service was as expected and pleasant. I would recommend Waterfront Southgate for the ambience and outdoor experience but not for the food.
The Manager refused to close the very latge windows and doors despite it being very cold and breezy outside; we politely requested three times but were ignored. Not a place to visit or recommend on a cold day
I have requested for a table inside the restaurant. However, we were given table outside. It was a pretty cold night and temperature around 5c. The table didn't have any heating close to it. Therefore, we couldn't enjoy the dinner.
We had such a fabulous dinner at Waterfront celebrating my partner's Birthday with friends. The staff were awesome, the food was delicious and the atmosphere is great. I would definitely return.
The service of the lady who took the order and served the food was outstanding. She really helped select the dish as per our needs.
However, towards the end another guy (I think Albert or Alfred...cannot recollect his name) replaced her and his service was below average. He cleaned the table half way and just disappeared. We asked him for a take away container box, for which we had to remind him twice. Moreover, there was no spoon to fill the container with and we again had to call him to provide the same. His service was complete put-off.
We attended the Waterfront for fathers day and it was a perfect setting, with great food and service. We will be back to sample other items on the menu.
Service and food were amazing I just didn't appreciate rhe cooks eating whilst cooking. Not even a wash of the hands.
Ordered whole baby barramundi and it came out with scales still on it. Horrible
Everything was fine, but that’s just it, it was just fine, nothing stand out. Steak was well cooked, wine was nice. I liked the ambience, only 3 menus given to 4 people, 1 drink list. Butter came out in packets. Chowder wasn’t thick at all though nice flavours. Everything was good but it was nothing special
Unfortunately, service delivery was very slow and unfriendly
This is an amazing restaurant. Service was 5 star worthy. I really enjoyed the fact that this restaurant has water views but also great great food. I’ll be back again soon with my family.
We we booked in at 8.30pm but didn’t get seated until 8.50pm and normally we get the tasting shots of chowder and bread but this occasion we didn’t get anything. We sat at the bar and waited for our table prior as we arrived at 8.10pm which was fine but even found the bar staff quite rude at times and didn’t acknowledge when we had empty glasses which we had to ask if we could have another wine each. We really have always loved this restaurant but we left on this occasion feeling disappointed.
Different staff served our table so we were asked twice if we would like to order; the restaurant wasn't very busy on a Saturday at 5:45pm.
We were charged $11 for sparkling water and $10 for still water (when I asked for tap water) and then these bottles were taken away from us and our glasses were never refilled during dinner.
In order to pay our bill, we had to leave the table to find someone to take payment.
The fish wasn't the size as advertised (but we were advised when ordering) but the price was still the same. The Oysters Kilpatrick was lovely and so too were the desserts, but I probably wouldn't go back there again due to the inconsistency with the food and service.
A fabulous night for the four of us. We decided on the 'Waterfront Platter' and what a magnificent platter is was, fresh seasonal shell fish, soft shell crab and a full flounder accompanied with a very tasty coleslaw, chips and rocket salad. The wines chosen were enjoyed by all. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, we will return, there's nothing not like about this Restaurant.
Great restaurant, excellent staff. Always feel
very welcome and treated with lovely respect ..not rushed or pushy . Food is great and menu varied . Love sitting and relaxing over a lazy lunch enjoying great food, lovely service and outlook .
We enjoyed an amazing lunch, celebrating a birthday which our fabulous server Caitlin made sure was made even more special by bringing out a candle lit birthday dessert! The sun was shining on our table, the drinks were flowing - our glasses were never left empty and the food was out of this world, thank you Caitlin for a wonderful long lunch!
It’s a good value and good food restaurant. We family really had good time here. Foods we ordered were Jumbo King Prawns, Mariniere – white wine, cream garlic, parsley, 300g Scotch fillet, Clam chowder and Waterfront seafood chowder. Really recommend everyone could come here to eat your dinner.
Great service, wonderful setting. Nice portions sizes.
Food was pretty good. Service was a letdown. Had ordered a starter, but the mains were brought out first. Couldn’t get water glasses topped up.
Second time I have been here and decided to take work colleague and family down from Coffs Harbour.
It has a wide variety of food to suite even the fussy eater.
The food was exceptional and everybody enjoyed what they order from steaks, risotto, chicken and seafood.
Great wine list from reasonable to expensive so your choice how much you spend.
Service was friendly and attentive without being over the top.
Highly recommend the restaurant and will return again.
never ever fails !! 10/10 i have been here so many times and its always on ponit
Beautiful location on the River. It was a special occasion & we had a superb meal before the Ballet. Excellent service & our every request was catered for. Not a cheap night out, but highly recommend for something a bit special.
