Walsh Bay Kitchen
Great food but service was friendly but pretty slow and unreliable
Great place for pre theatre dinner. No fuss in and out. Good food and wine choices.
Given it two goes, but won’t bother again. Not enough staff!
Waited 10 minutes queued at entrance despite our booking to be seated at our table. Too much wasted time due to lack of staff, too long to place order & for table water. Waited far too long for entrees and mains arrived on our able 20 mins before the play started last night. My fish was in too much soya sauce, so salty! The mixed salad was awful, leaves a few tiny tomatoes & tasteless seaweed. Hopeless, rushed, stressful pre theatre
Excellent pre-theatre experience with delicious food served by efficient and attentive staff in a comfortable setting. Good value as well.
Entree very good.Main meal disappointing
Pre theatre menu with no gluten free options in entrees for coeliacs - and zero flexibility to change - "you have to choose the a la carte menu then". Now, if the restaurant manager was a customer with a food allergy how would they feel about what they have now fashioned as a tax on allergies?
Great service and great atmosphere. The food was also very nice, appropriately priced and a decent selection for the pre-theatre menu.
Pre-theatre dining menu. Restaurant is in the foyer so you can hear the bells calling you to go to seats which is stressful as each time we have tried this restaurant they have not been able to serve the whole menu to us before the bells begin despite us arriving 1-1.5hours pre show as requested. This time so the best so far as the restaurant was mostly empty but still we had to cancel the coffee orders that were not delivered, bolt down dessert and race for the show. Food is pricey but okay.
Perfect pre-show menu and service. Only negative, hot food a little cool.
Great for pre-dinner menu option before show at Roslyn Packer Theatre.
Efficient, friendly service staff.
Food was generally excellent though the main courses had cooled a bit by the time we got them. However they were still delicious when eaten.
Would have liked it if the dining room had still been open after the show ( which finished at 9.15 pm.) so we could have had the coffee and dessert part of the menu then.
The 2-course special pre-theatre meal was very enjoyable, served by friendly and efficient staff.
Six ordered dinner & 3 received cold food. Wine order still hadn’t been served by the time we left for the theatre. nice staff but terribly overworked in pre theatre period.
Sense that food was prepared and just warmed up for serving - meat was on tough and dried out side.
Mad rush to pay before theater start - long queue of dinners all wanting to pay at same time. Should have a system where you pay during your meal, or before your meal, so numbers are better managed before theater.
Good for pre-theatre. We were served quickly and our meals were very tasty . Would recommend this place for its vibe and food.
Not a good night. Food was good but service was so late that we had toleave foeshow before deserts could be served. Dat for an hour before first course arrived. Other diners had to leave before getting any food.
What a port in a storm! We received a lovely warm welcome in the midst of a massive thunder storm. Very friendly, attentive service, great atmosphere warm and cozy. The food delivered a unique and delicious combination of flavours - I think they have a new chef who is fabulous. We had a pre-show meal and were served without feeling rushed or pressured to finish at any time. A lovely evening which we'll repeat every time we attend a performance at Roslyn Packer Theatre. Highly recommend.
Lovely, inventive and tasty dishes that were beautifully presented.
The food was unexceptional. The slow cooked lamb clearly had only been roasted in an oven for about 60 minutes. The chicken was tough and the eggplant garnish had an odd flavour . The dessert was uninspiring. Would not recommend. The only positive was the proximity to the theatre.
Delicious food served in a pleasant setting - the lighting at night is just right, not too dull, not too bright - and warm, professional staff.
Food was very disappointing, compared with previous visits. What's happened?
If you are planning to see a play at the Roslyn Packer Theatre, you can't go past the Walsh Bay kitchen. The pre-theatre menu, while not extensive, is adequate. I was dining alone so had the $52 two course menu which was interesting. The semillon/ sauvignon blanc house wine was very good. I will certainly go there again.
Not as impressed this visit. All three of us ordered the same meal, lamb. It wasn't warm, and seemed thrown together without flavour or balance. Wine arrived at the table halfway through eating. Desserts were enjoyable. Service was quick and efficient.
Always good as a pre or post theatre dining experience. Good service and great food.
Pre-theatre dining. Food was very good and service prompt, efficient and very friendly.
The food and anbience were vert good.
We arrived at 6.15 and were seated without delay.
The waiter took our order within 5 minutes and our entrees were on the table by about 6.40, all good and efficient BUT the bottle of wine we ordered didn’t arrive until our entree’s were virtually finished in spite of 3 reminders/follow ups.
This is not acceptable. To have to wait virtually half an hour for a drink, not to have it with the food and then having to leave about a third spoilt our night.
House red wine was very "ruff" - only thing I would recommend improving otherwise excellent for dinner prior to a show at Roslyn Packer Theatre
So good we are coming back this evening for another pre theatre meal! Excellent food and service and nice atmosphere! Probably wouldn’t come just for dinner, but perfect for pre theatre. Only comment is that the food - lamb - could have been hotter!
Great, quick pre-theatre menu. The noise level had dropped significantly, perhaps, due to winter?
More gluten free options please. I think I accidentally ordered the same entree and main last night as the time I previously dined. I love Asian flavours and GF options are limited.
It was Pre theatre dinner, and the place was full. They did not have enough cooks that day and the meals took
more than half an hour to be served.
There are not enough Vegetarian options.
The waitresses were helpful.
But on 18/8/18, the Pre theatre dinner was served on time.
There were fewer people for dinner.
Quite disappointed. Very convenient for theatre but the food was very mediocre especially for the portions and price. Strange commbinations of flavours that do not particularly go together well. Not t the worst by far, but I was expecting something much better. The service this time was amazing!
Our group of 4 made a pre-theatre booking before a performance at the Roslyn Packer Theatre. It worked really well. Very nice meal, lovely waitress, didn't have to worry about timing. Wish we'd been able to return for the post-theatre cheeseboard or chocolate cake deals!
Great food served with a smile
Staff were great and we both enjoyed a well presented meal before our visit to the theatre. Wine list was good with a good selection of reds and whites.
Great for pre theatre dinner locate next door to Roslyn Packer Theatre. Food excellent, service was friendly and efficient with the exception of trying to pay when the restaurant was busy. That was annoying but overall a very good experience.
Very convenient if going to a performance at Roz Packer Theatre
Have submitted feedback privately
Very convenient for pre-theatre dinner if you are not too fussy about the quality of the food.
Some of the dishes’ presentation was a bit homely. Expensive as it has a captive ore theatre market
Perfect pre-theatre menu with vegetarian, fish and meat options. Two or three courses with a glass of wine is good value and served in good time to make it into the theatre. The menu changes to suit regular diners and theatregoers. Always great food and lovely, friendly staff.
