Being huge fans of The Farm, we were keen to try Three Blue Ducks in its Brisbane venue.
We were quite disappointed, mainly with the service. We were left for a long period with no water and no wine order taken. When these were finally addressed, we received the wrong side dish order and worse, were charged for it. There was a long delay for the dessert order to be taken while staff were engaged in setting up for the next day’s service. Finally, we hailed a waiter and asked for our order to be taken
We were given a free limoncello as an acknowledgement that things hadn’t gone smoothly. When paying, we were asked specifically about the problems and were told they were short staffed.
We will try the restaurant again mainly because of our faultless Byron Bay experiences.
We enjoyed our evening overlooking the Brisbane river. The meal was creative using great produce. The bar area and music was really noisy however we were seated away from there thankfully! The service was wonderful. Thanks Mary.
This is a great choice for a special occasion. Sensational food, a fabulous view and excellent service. Highly recommended.
We were excited to go to 3 Blue Ducks - had heard it was really good. However - it was very hard to get a drink in the bar beforehand - didn't seem to be enough staff and we were billed twice for the drinks! At dinner my prawns were flabby, the porchetta dowsed in chili sauce, and the cauliflower side was raw (sent back & credited to the bill). The best thing about the restaurant was the spectacular view - overall very disappointing.
Food was absolutely delicious! Our server was delightful, knew a lot about the menu and beverages, was very attentive. Would go here again!
Staying at the W Hotel for our wedding anniversary we were excited to be dining at Three Blue Ducks last night. Unfortunately our excitement dissipated throughout the dining experience. The dining setting was excellent, with a well positioned table with a great view of the Brisbane River and Southbank. We were welcomed by our waiter and the night was off to a good start. We had oysters for entree, which were excellent, particularly liked the finger lime dressing. The mains were a different story though. The char grilled prawns were overcooked, very dry and there were only 3 of them, not a very generous main serving in our opinion. The t-bone steak was of average to poor quality and presented gristle throughout and looked well under 500 grams. The waiter had become inattentive and delivered my glass of red wine, ordered at the start of the sitting to be taken with the steak, as we were finishing our mains. Even more frustrating, was that our waiter was 2 tables away chatting with a couple that had finished their meal and were preparing to depart whilst I waited and eventually abandoned the notion of wine with dinner. The whole experience was underwhelming, so much so, that we made the decision not to return for breakfast as we originally planned. Three Blue Ducks was a low light in an otherwise amazing experience as guests at the W Hotel. Unlikely to return for a meal.
A wonderful restaurant with an exceptional outlook and really interesting food. The service was brilliant when we arrived at 6pm but of course the restaurant was relatively quiet. Our waiter Stefan was superb - attentive and fun, joking with us and really looking after us. As it got later he clearly was very busy and couldn't be quite as attentive though still did a great job. Possible just need a few more staff at this busy time of year. Food was innovative and came promptly. Mussels were beautiful and the bread was so good, cerviche was beautiful in taste and presentation. Location is exceptional - a really good night was had by us all.
We had a fantastic night at Three Blue Ducks. The open setting and views are great. Service was relaxed and friendly. We'll be back again soon!
Mains are decent value. Starters are not. Nice venue.
Specifically, the ceviche starter wasn't good value. It was also bland. Mango would be better than Paw Paw. The onion should be diced finer and marinated longer as well - it was chunky and raw.
Great food ! Great service !!
Fantastic food! Don't miss the chargrilled bugs with XO butter. Service was excellent. Only real fault is it can be very hard to hear on a larger table.
Staff not very attentive and hard to get their attention. Food was very good and well priced.
The waiter Stefan was really friendly and the food exceeded our expectation for hotel restaurant food.
Excellent service by a very attentive and polite waiter who was constantly checking the table. The menu was somewhat restrictive but adequate in choice. The food was beautifully prepared and presented and most importantly, extremely tasty.
Service was poor having to wait at least ten minutes for our drinks to be brought to our table, having asked twice. We also ordered at steak medium rare and it was delivered well done. We didn't want to make a fuss but the service was average and the steak being brought out in hat state after specifically ordering medium rare was disappointing. Having spent in excess of $500, none of us would return nor recommend Three Blue Ducks.
With a table on the balcony looking directly at the river and over to South Brisbane & South Bank, Three Blue Ducks was a fantastic choice for a birthday celebration. Personalised service, fantastic food and a good wine list, we were not disappointed and will definitely return.
Fantastic night celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary. Given table 32, with a view and some bubbles to start the night. Service and food outstanding
Baked whole fish was very dry, rice salad hard & tasteless
Hi, Had a fabulous Sunday lunch for 4 people , for a birthday. the food was excellent, very friendly staff, food came out at the right time. Didn't have to wait to long. There was even a birthday card from Three Blue Ducks on the table when we arrived. Very nice. Would defiantly recommend Three Blue Ducks.
Great attentive service initially that petered out when trying to get the bill!
Chorizo dish beautifully balanced by the Radicchio and smoked eggplant, chimichurri appeared mortar and pestled. Partners prawns were cut off the shell and made easy to eat. Don’t usually do desserts but shared the meringue, lemon curd and toasted macadamia with topping of caraway seeds and slight saltiness elevating the dish to a higher level. Generous serve, enjoyed sharing. The cheeky Rose/Amperol spritz was a perfect lunchtime match for both dishes.
A winner of a restaurant and venue the 2nd time round, I will happily return yet again!
Brilliant food with great service..... lamb shoulder was amazing!!!
We had an international guest (party of 6), and asked the waitress to recommend and order a share menu for our table. It was excellent! Everyone commented on the presentation and the meal was delicious. Really beautiful flavours, fancy but not pretentious, fresh and fabulous. Will definitely be back. Book well in advance though.
We had an amazing time at the Ducks! Sat on the terrace with an incredible view - food was sublime and service excellent. Would definitely recommend! 5+
We had a very pleasant meal at 3 Blue Ducks on a Saturday lunchtime. The place was busy but not too noisy. The food was good but not outstanding. I think I was expecting the same range of food and value as 3 Blue Ducks at Byron and thought the menu in the city was slightly less wholesome and interesting. However, we had an enjoyable time, the staff were very attentive and friendly and even gave a card and sang happy birthday to my husband. The salted meringue dessert was quite amazing and finished off the meal very nicely!
Just missed the mark. Over priced and underwhelmed. The fish was so dry we couldn’t finish it.
Wonderful service, spectacular location and view. Food was lovely and our twin birthday celebration was everything we hoped for. Thank you for a wonderful overall experience.
From the moment of arrival, our group was surprised by the complete absence of service. While a busy Friday lunch, there were still some spare tables, so it's not like they were flat out. Our glasses spent more time empty than not, we were given two different menus (one an old one), had to ask repeatedly for water or to order more wine, and we also had to request the main and dessert menu. We wanted to spend money, but it seemed like they didn't want to take it! Food was good, but not good enough to counter the lack of service.
Great atmosphere and fantastic waitress service. Had a seafood fix today with oysters, kingfish ceviche and moreton bay bugs. All fantastic especially the bugs, served chilled with a couple of sauces. Enjoyed the experience much better than the first time which was soon after opening.
Everything was perfect. The service, the food and the view. Can not wait to get back there for more.
Absolutely amazing meal. 3 of us shared the lamb shoulder - it was divine. And the haloumi and carrots were amazing too. Service was fab. Everything was great. Highly recommend.
Wonderful meal and service with the best views of the south bank. Amazing loved it
Very overpriced small meals. Left the restaurant hungry.
Great night out in Brissy food really good best mussels ever
Great menu and the food was magnificent! Loved the Moreton Bay Bugs and the Cocktails were great and inventive.
Once we were in and looked at the menu it was nice from the decor right down to the service and a special thanx to ANA. Prices were fair for what we got. Highly recommend it and we will be back.
Food was delicious. Service was poor in comparison. Following mains no one came to ask about dessert. We eventually called out to staff to take our order. This was despite the restaurant being quiet and lots of staff being around. Once bill was brought to table again had to call over staff to make payment. The staff really need to improve attentiveness to diners. It was a shame that the service let down the quality of the meal. Unfortunately this seems to be a recurring theme for the restaurant.
The food was excellent. Beyond that, the overall experience felt a little flat.
Service was average, not bad but not especially attentive, informed or with any sign of anticipation. Our seat was at the far end, near the waiters area and almost in the corridor on the way to the toilet. Nice.
We are happy spending money eating out and do so regularly. Dinner here was $340 for two of us; nothing about the experience felt special. I'd go back, but not in a rush.
Booked a table at Three Blue Ducks W Brisbane for my wife's 30th Birthday. Great service by the staff, coupled with amazing food and incredible view. Great to experience W Brisbane.
Food and Drinks were excellent, along with the service. Definitely recommend this to friends and will be back again.
Only thing was the decor of the place, needs to be a bit modern, looked too much of a Bistro style.
A lovely meal, the food is always a high standard and just a little bit different.
Service is lovely. Parking is a bit expensive, that's the only thing.
