What Insiders Are Saying
Vue de Monde might be tasting-menu only, but it still feels pretty casual and it has views from the 55th floor of the Rialto.
Spectacular in every way
Exceptional food and service
The food was excellent, and so was the view. Service was very good, but I in this price category I have seen better (eg. Alain Ducasse at the Dorcester). The restaurant is a little noisy, maybe because there are no carpets. Did not see Shannin Bennett. Overall a very good experience though.
The food was nicely presented and very delicious.I like how they use fresh ingredients from local areas.
Their staff was nice and friendly. And the view was amazing. There was a great selection of wine.
Yes the price was high, but definitely worth trying.
This is the third time I had dinner in this restaurant. The food quality is still excellent. However, this time I had to return the table by 8 pm and because of the traffic on a Friday night, I only arrived shortly before 6:30 pm. Finishing a fine dining meal in 1.5 hours is totally far from ideal. Besides, I was sitting in the middle of the restaurant and the waiters kept walking past around my table busily. I had no feeling of having a fine dining meal at all.
We had the 16-course degustation menu paired with wine. The quality of food and the way it was presented blew us away. The food is exceptionally good and the different people who explained what the dish was, in my opinion, made the difference, as I am assuming they put the dish together.
Lovely view! Great staff, good food and. From beginning to end the waitress did a great job. Got a lot of information about the restaurant and the special teas. Thanks for the great dinner!
Overall, a pleasant experience. Staff were amazing. Dishes were very unique, a showcase of Australian produce. Too generous with rock salt in some dishes and we were not a fan of the suckling pig dish. However most dishes were amazing especially the desserts.
We also realised we weren't served a marron head or an alternative.
Amazing. Highly recommend. Food was fantastic. View are beautiful. And lets not forget about the brilliant service
An amazing experience in every way and would highly recommend. Could not fault anything.
We were after a special occasion venue to celebrate my 50th birthday and Vue de monde fit the bill perfectly. The restaurant is gorgeous with fabulous lighting, visible kitchen area, well spaces leather clad tables and spectacular views. The service is absolutely impeccable from the moment you arrive in the ground floor lobby to the moment you're escorted out through the wine cellar and given a gift bag. Every single staff member was attentive, kind and friendly.
Worth all the hats. Vue de monde knows what it is doing! This was an amazing experience that i will hopefully have one day again. Incredible views, incredible food, amazing wine, wonderful service.
We loved every plate. The staff made the experience fun and memorable.
Some of the best food I've ever eaten! Beautifully presented, a real joy to experience and eat. Amazing.
Service tho was average. Had water thrown over me about 5 times, how hard is it poor water out of a jug into a glass! Seeing that they charged me $9 each for tap water I found this quite annoying! For the price you pay you are not allowed to sit, relax and enjoy the experience. It's all very rushed so they can usher you out the door asap so they can get the next sitting in.
All the ingredients are very fresh and of high quality. Each course provides me a fantastic new experience. The only pity is that I was expecting a small piece of steak during main courses but got the pork and duck instead. Otherwise, It will be perfect.
We booked with high expectations and left very disappointed.
An amazing experience, fabulous food, exceptional service
Excellent service and one of a kind flavours
Exceptional service, fabulous ambience, excellent food. We make this an annual special dining event and are never disappointed. We had the matching wines with the 16 course degustation and it was exceptional. Some people will pay the same money for a concert with bad seats and poor visibility and never get the experience we enjoyed. Do yourself a favour and book in for the night of your life !
Night out for special occasion and more than exceeded our expectations. The food was fabulous and the service was exceptional.
Simply spectacular! I can't fault any part of our dinning experience!
There can be no surprise why Vue de monde is one of Melbourne's most celebrated fine dining restaurants - the experience is, in a word, "exceptional".
The food is, quite simply, outstanding; the staff are totally switched on (other restaurants should learn from the team at Vdm), the ambience stunning and there are so many nice and thoughtful touches that, combined, befit a world-class epicurean occasion that delights all the senses.
Amazing food and service from fantastic staff, but it is an expensive night out. A special place for a special event.
We booked the restaurant for a wedding anniversary celebration & the food & service is just mind blowing.
We had been to the restaurant 7 years previously & it was even better this time
We had the Chef's Table, nothing to fault, except perhaps the courses were coming out a little too quickly. The food was just divine.
We were at the earlier sitting- 6-8 pm which gave us the opportunity to experience sunset and the change in vibrant colours from day to night. The views are just magical.
We chose the chef’s menu rather than Australian specials. My husband had the wine flight, I told the sommelier that I would taste each of his wines and order a glass when there was one that I particularly liked, something that I have done in other world class restaurants. This sommelier proceeded to give me a tasting measure at each course, this is a stratagem that I will be selling to my regular restaurants back in Scotland. All the service was at this level.
The setting was stunning however as we were experiencing a degustation when each plate was explained we found it very difficult to hear which slightly affected the ambience for us as it was a bit too noisy. The staff were very obliging and repeated when asked however we did feel a little uncomfortable . The staff, food and wine were all faultless however we chose the chef tasting menu which was recommended to us but it did feel a little too rushed for a 2 hr sitting
Meal was lovely
As always, when you dine at Vue de Monde,
Shannon Bennett doesn’t disappoint.
The chefs Tasting Menu was truely tantalising, and certainly won’t leave you wanting for more.
The wine list is very extensive and has something for everyone’s budget.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating, to customers needs, and aren’t overbearing.
View - Spectacular
Husbands birthday surprise much appreciated
Service - fantastic
Place - beautiful
Food - to die for, so tasty and amazing
Exceeded out expectations
Now we understand when on MasterChef they talk about food dancing in your mouth and mystery/ surprises of flavour leaving you wondering.
Was a great experience, the service was friendly but not intrusive, I couldn’t fault the food at all. Two hour sitting but didn’t feel rushed, it was pretty perfect.
The food was exceptional the staff were attentive without being invasive and the wine was magnificent. We were out to dinner with some chefs who were inpressed with the chefs and the eye to detail.
Everything was fantastic even down to the plates the meals were served on.
Thank you Vue de Monde for an incredible experience.
Everything upstairs was absolutely exceptional! From the food to the staff and service to the views and dining experience.
Being greeted downstairs was very much the opposite. After calling ahead to apologise profusely & inform them we were running about 20 min late, when we arrived & again apologised to be scolded like school children from the lady maitre d who then just barked go through and I embarrassedly had to go back and actually ask her where to go as she’d not actually told us
The whole experience was next level. Exceeding my expectations. The level of detail in every area was just amazing. The food exquisite but also not too pompous. The staff warm and friendly but also very professional. A whole 'experience' not just a night out for dinner. Fine dining but inviting and warm. Very much worth the money for a treat. The only surprise was the alcohol price point but it was all part of the experience.
A disappointing experience. The pigeon serving was tasteless. The duck breast slice was a bit over cooked and tough, which we brought to the server’s attention who replied, “Thanks”! We expected memorable, innovative cuisine and found most offerings lacking in either category. This full tasting menu experience fell far short of our full tasting menu experience at Amaru & the Press Club & much better priced. However, Vue de Monde has unmatched views and seating and an unparalleled wine list.
fantastic restaurant with great views...the service makes a restaurant and vue de monde has staff that are attentive and they are knowledgeable about the menu...you expect great food/service from a high end restaurant and vue de monde delivers with a menu that leads you into a journey of french cuisine meeting australian fare..would definitely come back
Amazing culinary experience from the beginning to the end. Excellent wait staff and food second to none. Our overseas guest were "wowed" off their feet with this unforgettable experience. We chose the suggested first time tasting menu and it did not disappoint.
From the elevator to the service - everything 10 out of 10
