Vue De Monde Ratings and Reviews
The word that comes to mind is excessive.
Wonderful food but excessive
Exceptional wine but excessive
Most staff were very professional
(One girl's uniform was very dirty and another spilled water all over the table with no effort made to clean it up - maybe not a big deal but when you pay more than $1000 for 2 people.....)
Not sure that I liked the 'leather' tables and stone accessories but that is a personal preference. I was not pleased that one of my plates was cracked.
Service, ambience and scene make Vue de Monde special but it’s the food that takes it to the next level. Most of the ingredients are sourced locally with a heavy focus on native Australian produce. The right balance of flavours and creative presentation make the meal something to remember.
Have a fussy eater or a vegetarian, not a problem. We did the degustation and our fussy eater was catered for with dishes that were just as interesting and as inventive as the regular offering.
Vue de Monde was pricey but it was a great food experience. So many dishes with so many wonderful combinations and different flavours.
This was not just about having a meal it was an experience. The staff were attentive and very friendly, everyone made us feel welcome from the moment you entered the foyer until we were escorted out. We went for lunch and the views from the 55th floor were amazing. Definitely great for a special occasion or as a treat.
One of our highlights of our trip to Australia was dining at Vue de monde. We are big fans of Shannon Bennett and the experience did not disappoint.
The price is defiantly not for the faint of heart and we do not usually spend this kind of money on meals, however this dining experience will be something we will remember forever.
The Australian themed degustation was unique, and coming from Canada would not otherwise experience.
The staff was welcoming, friendly and always ready to help!
The Vue de Monde experience was ruined by thunderous responses from the staff in the open kitchen. Whilst this might be intended to impress, it has the opposite effect of being an intrusive irritation throughout the meal, making it impossible to relax and enjoy the ambience. Sadly, that is the only lingering impression.
Everything was excellent but not really suburb. $1000 far too much for lunch with wine. They charge for tap water. All wines ok but only one of the whites was special being an aged Chardonnay. Don’t bother with the matching wine . Better to buy a special bottle or 3 from a wine store.
Service was completely flawless, absolutely exquisite. Professional, friendly, personalised, knowledgeable, above and beyond. From coming over with a box of tissues when I sneezed, to being able to recommend a sweet wine for a meat course. Although only one dish wowed me (the soufflé), they were all very good quality. Although there was a distinct theme of sourness in the dishes, this didn't bother me as much as some. My dining partner was delighted with the mid range wine pairing.
Definitely a must. One of the most amazing complete experiences we have ever had. The food was spectacular, every elements complemented each other. Enjoyed every dish. The sommelier was knowledgeable. The servers were attentive with being intrusive, they were friendly and fun. Highly recommend the complete experience.
The lady in the desk was very charming and guided us to the waiting area. Then we were guided to lift and taken to 55th floot to scenic views to the town. The dining area was quite noisy, kitchen staff was yelling loud and we were kind of disturbed of that. The staff were friendly but seemed busy and that affects us also. The three first courses arrived so fast that it was almost fast food-like. Then the rhytm got slower and the ambiance more calm. Special credit to Carlos. He was the best!😍
The ambience and few was awesome as the restaurant overlooked Melbourne from the 55th floor. However it was dissapointing to say that the dishes that were served to us was too salty. Chocolate souffle was amazing! Yet the other dishes fails to impress us which surprises us as the reviews that was written were all positive reviews.
We have been going to Vue de Monde for many years, and have always come away with a beautiful experience. This has not been an exception. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and we are very happy that the food and service have been maintained to very high standards.
The whole dinner was a great experience- our first time at vue de monde for our 5th year wedding anniversary and we did the whole tasting menu with matching wine. Waiters were very attentitive and got good humour and knowledge. Sustainable theme throughout the restaurant and food was so clever. It brought home with the idea of food being part of our eco system. Nicely Australian menu. We got to meet the Shannon Bennett at the end of the night to top it off - will never forget this night!
For a top class restaurant we'd have to say that we somewhat disappointed with the overall experience at Vue De Monde.
We have dined at numerous restaurants in and around Melbourne and had much better experiences.
Service was particularly slow and we felt that, just because we didn't purchase a bottle of over priced wine, we were treated as lower class diners.
My partner found there to be an excessive queue for the bathroom and was confronted by a young lady being sick everywhere!
Not the best!
We loved it. A meal at Vue de Monde is definitely an occasion in itself. The food was fantastic and we had dishes we hadn't even imagined. At least once in your life give it a try. Our suggestion it's best for you and your significant other for a special occasion, but a big crowd for lunch or diner would also work.
We started our evening with the most beautiful view of the city in the cocktail bar. We then moved through to the dining room, where I was able to watch the sunset (my partner had the pillar obstructing his view).
We opted for the chefs menu and wine pairing. Lots of amazing dishes, and the wine really was matched perfectly to the flavors.
My only criticism would be that the food came out to quickly. We struggled to keep up with the service, especially the wine.
I could not fault the food, it was delicous. The wait staff were friendly and explained the food well however the service completely ruined our experience. There were very long delays between courses, to the point where I asked if the waitress could speed things up as we had not been served dessert and it was midnight. We did have an 8.45pm booking but when it gets this late at night you don't want to be rushing through it and eagerly awaiting the time you can leave.
Incredible food. Impeccable service. Phenomenal wine list. Not for the faint-hearted price wise. But worth the 'investment'.
Was a bit miffed to be charged $18 for what seemed to be tap water and $10 for coffee. Worth researching the wine menu before you go.
Perfect ambience, lovely and very professional staff. Food was impeccably put together and flavours were interesting and delicious. Loved the thought process that went into every little detail - the rocks and stones on the table played a part to every meal, staff educated us on the farm where produce came from, 'interactive' dishes etc.
