VIVO Mediterranean Grill & Catering
The restaurant’s upscale vibe resonates with old world authenticity. Once the mansion home to glamorous Rudolph Valentino, the setting is both elegant and stylish, offering sun filled, traditional Ballrooms, a decidedly urban vibe in the Dining Room, hand crafted cocktails at the Bar and Lounge, and al fresco dining on the Patio adjacent to manicured gardens and gazebo.

This restaurant site has been owned/managed by several owners over the past 15 years. I have been there for lunch, brunch, and dinner. This latest visit of the evolution of ownership has not proven to be a place I would recommend but, occasionally revisit to see if anything has changed. The brunch menu is designed for mass delivery. I'd almost prefer a buffet line (not my first choice) where you can create your own meal. The omlette was uninspired with all components (egg portion was cooked but cold), coming together as a burrito with the selected ingredients randomly placed inside the rolled up egg. Cutting into said omlette caused the interior to disperse on the plate. Very unappealing. As usual, the noise level is high in the main dining area and becomes even more so with young children crying for attention or to be removed from an older experience.
Ladies brunch at what used to be our favorite brunch place. We've been meeting here pretty much monthly for a couple of years. We were patient when they changed the menu a few times. Today the three of us were not happy with our food. The bread/Danish dish was good when we got it but then the Danish got hard like rocks. I had blueberry pancakes that were blue! I immediately wondered how much food coloring was in them. Tasted OK but nothing great. One friend got an omelette and said the egg seemed like it was from a carton, potatoes with burned cheese. The other got waffles and said not great. Busboy was phenomenal but our waitress was so-so. Seemed as if she forgot about us a few times. Unfortunately, our next brunch will not be at Vivo. We've decided to explore other places. We'll keep an eye out for menu changes that will once again make this restaurant a unique brunch place.
There was a wedding going on upstairs and the DJ was right above us. Not sure why they didn't put us in the other room. We actually had to ask to move tables. Then my friend ordered pasta and told the waiter he didn't like spicy. It was very spicy. Big sports they were, they bought us a tartuffo. Too many better restaurants around, they should kick up the service a notch and make sure everyone is happy all night.
If you like a beautiful restaurant with an even more beautiful view, you will love Vivo. The service was perfect. We were there with my elderly (very opinionated) parents and the staff was very courteous, friendly and respectful. The food was delicious! We ordered the branzino, filet mignon, duck breast and assorted appetizers. Everything was prepared exactly as it should be and served with a smile. We will be back again and highly recommend!
Very nice service and food was delicious
The Lobster Night special is an excellent value. Beware if there is a wedding or affair going on the same night as service becomes slim with much of the staff at the affair leaving restaurant diners with short staff
Daughter birthday party fantastic place
Great food. The food was so delicious, I really loved it. Will come back!
thank you, staff were superb..catered to our every need and request..couteous and professional...Food was an astronomical delight..from appetizers to desserts
We enjoyed a wonderful, deliciously prepared and presented brunch....the food was out of this world! Our server was excellent: very efficient and helpful. The restaurant maintains a lovely feel of "yesterday" while having a new and most impressive menu. We are planning for an event (our 25th anniversary) in October this year...and can't wait to introduce our family to VIVO! We would highly recommend this restaurant.
Went for 2-lb. lobster special which was very good. Server was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Prices for appetizers ($19 for shrimp cocktail) and desserts were a bit steep for the outer boroughs.
Had their lobster dinner special, which was outstanding. The hostess Loretta was as gracious as ever. A lovely night and a great place for a special celebration.
It was great. Beautiful ambiance, music not too loud so you can have conversation, and very accommodating staff. Good food. The peach tart with ice cream to die for yummmm!!
A WONDERFUL DINING EXPERIENCE. AS ALWAYS. KUDOS. PLUS BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS
Highly recommend. Excellent staff and the food was super delicious.
Beautiful afternoon outside. Food and service were top rate. Great restaurant!!!
We chose it for the excellent location and were happy with that but the ambience was not great. It was a little too noisy the outdoor eating was nonexistent. We thought we would try to eat outdoors but nobody really was doing that.
Have been there several times and have always been extremely satisfied with food, service and atmosphere. This past Saturday night, they out did themselves...It was exceptional...oysters, duck and veal chop milanese dishes were outstanding along with the service and hospitality...can't wait to go back!
The service and food is outstanding! Vivo provides a beautiful fine dining experience.
Last time I was there fir Christmas I was very dissatisfied with service
This time Brad was very attentive and professional
I would recommend it with caution
I guess because of the holiday weekend it was practically empty. That was fine with us. The restaurant is beautiful, the brunch food was great and the service was wonderful. A shout out to Emily who was terrific. The complimentary homemade Lemoncello was a big surprise and delicious as well. I highly recommend Vivo!!!
Lobster was a special but they ran out Disappointed.
Attentive and friendly service. Fresh ingredients. Great selection of dishes. Beautiful interior.
We had a wonderful evening. 100% recommended.
Thank you for everything. Mr Michael helped us so much. We really enjoyed our baby’s first birthday in the garden. Thank you
I love coming to Vivo because it always turns into a wonderful experience. The grounds are gorgeous, the staff is very friendly and professional, the ambiance is lovely and the food is right on the mark. Please continue what you are doing so that we all can enjoy Vivo for a long time. Kudos
Food was great. Service was good when you can get it. Seemed to be understaffed. What we thought would be a 2 hour dinner was actually 3 hours bc it took a long time to have our server take our order etc. we were in good company so it was totally fine but we had a babysitter waiting so that’s why I didn’t give it 5 stars.
Wonderful Father’s Day dinner. Great atmosphere and good eats
Food was good I would go back for dinner
It was great
overpriced for underwhelming food. i’ve been to this location for many of its renaissance’s but this is the least best of them.
My second time here. Lots of graduation dinners taking place and I thought it would be too loud and unpleasant. It wasn't. It was a bit noisier than I care for, but certainly not distracting from the conversation at my own table. Everyone enjoyed the food and the wait staff was attentive despite the large parties she was also servicing. I recommend this restaurant.
We have eaten there twice since May 31st and both times were superb. The second time, we brought friends and they loved the Lobster with Linguini and Shrimp Scampi, two of my favorite dishes...Our waiter Coty was attentive and pleasant- and of course Loretta, the hostess, was gracious as always. I tried the branzino, which was fresh and deboned to perfection. I highly recommend Vivo - a bright spot in northern Queens and above the rest.
The food and the service were good. They do not have a children’s menu but they will make smaller portions for them.
Convenient location for those traveling from the Bronx or CT and Long Island. Nice atmosphere and attentive staff. Food was OK, but nothing to write home about. Good variety. Drinks watered down...
terrific hostess and waitstaff
My Chicken Parm was a little too salty, bu very good. Ambiance was very nice.
This restaurant is in a very nice space, but every establishment here since Caffe on the Green shuttered suffered from an inadequate kitchen. VIVO seems to be different. The relatively new chef produces a number of dishes that are not overly fussy, but are tasty and well presented. The menu has an adequate number of choices across a range of alternatives. Doesn't seem focused on Mediterranean, and maybe could use a few more Italian-oriented dishes in an appeal to the neighborhood clientele. Again, the best quality food served in this space in years. An interesting drinks menu too.
Service was excellent from very pleasant and attentive staff.
Would recommend this restaurant to family and friends, and will definitely go back. Just hope diners haven't given up on this space because of the shortfalls at so many of VIVO's predecessors.
Amazing food and service! The staff is friendly and very attentive.
This was an amazing experience, especially for a mother’s day celebration. Food, service and ambiance was fantastic!!
