Amazing food, great service! Will definitely be back
Sensational food, presentation and authentic flavours. The waiter couldn't do enough for us. We added an additional 3 guests at no notice 2 of them children. He went out of his way to accommodate us. His service, attention to our needs and friendliness was world class (and I have eaten on most continents of the world!)
We were lucky, we went on Grand Final weekend and there was no crowd. Normally, we would have been asked to vacate the table after 1 hour and 45 minutes. We loved the food but will not be back on a normal weekend due to the time restriction. If there were no time restrictions, would be back in heart beat.
Amazing ambiance, lovely food, friendly staff. Fitzroy's best kept secret.
We weren’t served until 7:30 (after being seated at 6:15). We were then told they had booked the table for 8:15 so we had to be done and gone by then. Wouldn’t go again. Food wasn’t anything special and overpriced. Felt like it was get them in get their money and get them out.
Fantastic for group bookings. Awesome atmosphere, great service and incredible food. Thanks for looking after us and also accommodating the last minute changes on our end. Thanks for a great night and will be coming back very soon!
Great venue and amazing menu that caters really well for celiacs (perfect for me!). Our waitress was super lovely and engaging, very professional, and very knowledgable about the menu. Would definitely go again.
The food was amazing, the server could read his table better. Overall an enjoyable experience
Great vibe and fantastic waiter
Great service and great food flavours. Pork hock was huge.
Food quality is spot on. Banquet isn’t good value - buy portions that you want
We were told at the end of our meal at 9.02 pm that the kitchen closed at 9.00pm. They didn’t let us know in advance that we had to order dessert with our main! Horrible service.
The staff catered well to our large group of 10 people. Great selection of food, creating a banquet that suited our tastes. Well done!
The manager deserves a pay rise! she was awesome and offered the best service
Wonderful service ambience and excellent food tastes
Great night out, thank you !!! We were really well looked after, all went perfectly
Great food, very noisy though.
Requested outdoor seating upon booking. We were placed indoors, in the middle of a very noisy room. We asked the waitress if we could move to an outdoor/bar room table when one becomes available (where it was less noisy) and without even checking she immediately told us all the tables were full for the rest of the night. 30 minutes later I went to the bathroom and noticed majority of the outdoor/bar tables were empty. By now we had already started eating and was too late to move tables, not that the waitress let us know anyway.
Waitress was rude, inconsiderate and unhelpful.
Food was very tasty, recommend the Kao Pad rice. Good menu for vegan options.
I went to Hawkers for the first time to celebrate my birthday with a large group of friends and we were not disappointed. A very cool and moody interior topped of with delicious food and good service. Like many places they did not allow split bills which can make it a little inconvenient for larger groups but other than that a great dining experience and one that I would recommend highly to others.
Excellent as usual. Thank you Another great night
The food was sensational and the items the waiter suggested were exactly what we were after. The only issure we had with this restaurant were the chairs. They were so uncomfortable. It actually made sitting a chore. ,Maybe an upgrade is in order because everything else is spot on!
great place, great food. lovely staff. very accommodating. My friend is not a fan of asian food but by the end of the night she was converted. Fabulous
The whole experience was exceptional. Great venue with a lot of character, vibe and atmosphere. The food was amazing and would definitely go back. Highly recommend.
The value for money is not strong. Tiny food portions
Team was very accommodating as we moved tables twice. Food was mostly pleasant but not that impressive, ie. Sticky rice was cold and dry.. told the staff but no reply/ follow up. Kingfish was great but overpriced. For hawker food i think menu selection could be more creative & better value.
Our second visit to VPFH whilst visiting Melbourne from America. Brilliant food. Fantastic menu and great service. We would definitely return. Village People is one of our fav restaurants in the world. The flavors linger....brilliant
Fantastic meals here at Hawker. There’s a great selection to choose from and a large selection of cocktails and other drinks. The staff were very accommodating as we were allowed to stay well beyond our booking time, even though the restaurant was very busy.
the staff at this venue were lovely and very accommodating of us changing our table a few times. The food was good but very small portions for the price charged. Don't charge for a bit of extra sauce to put on plain rice.
Place & atmosphere was awesome. Food was absolutely amazing but a bit pricey.
Very enjoyable. Food quality was fresh with fantastic flavours. Will come back again.
We had a lovely meal here - I came because I did a vegan cooking class with (one of) the chef(s) here and the food was so good. We are vegan so it's great to have some delicious creative vegan fine dining in a lovely ambiance. Mocktails were a hit for me, as was the green curry.
I was surprised that the wait staff didn't try offer us the menu again for dessert so it felt like we were given a hurry up a little bit, and considering there was a lot of room in the restaurant, being directly next to another big table sitting, was a little bit intrusive. But otherwise an excellent experience.
We went in for a late dinner, they were busy but there were empty tables next to us, we were seated just after 8pm, and at 8.50 we still didn't have table water let alone our order taken. We kept making eye contact with waitresses. One cleaned a table next to us but ignored me - we ended up walking out and no one notices. So if you want to pay well over $55 for bottles of wine, and $40 - $60 on dishes while sitting in a dark loud room that looks like a cheap tiki bar - then go here.
We visited here on Valentine’s Day.
We booked here but our table was in front of entrance.(many people walked through during we were eating)
But we enjoyed entree. It was so delicious!
And nice atmosphere.
After entree we had to wait for one hour because they forgot about us.
One hour later they served main food, but it was super difficult to eat, because the table was uneven!
When we cut a big pork(with bone),the table wobbled a lot.I had to hold water and beer when my bf cut pork.
Finally, when we paid, they charged extra $14.
We didn’t recognize it,because the cashier didn’t explain. After paid,I saw a reciept and recognized we paid $14 more.It was ok because they gave it back to us, but we had to wait because it was busy.
The food was delicious, but we won’t come back again...:(
While the food is lovely and service was great, it’s quite expensive for what it is- no vegetables come with the mains or rice and you have to order everything. Not even the $9 roti comes with any sauce, they charged $5 for that when we asked!
It is a really cool set up and food is great but not great value for money.
Excellent food, great vibe and lovely setting, would definitely recommend and we intend to visit again
Creepy security guys at the restaurant entrance; small serving portions
Authentic with a great vibe, friendly staff, fresh food & reasonably priced.
Village people used to be one of our favourites. Unfortunately this experience has made me reconsider. Whilst the food was good, it feels that the serving sizes have reduced from a year ago. The service has lost a bit of its pace - we were brought the wrong dishes 3 times (meant for the table next to us) in our hour there. It didn't feel like value for money which is a shame considering how much we were looking forward to the dinner.
The pork hock is sensational and great value for money
Service poor. Cocktail and entree was forgotten to be served by waitress. I had to remind them of the order.
Main meal choice not available. Substitute main was watered down curry lacking seasoning.
Noise level so high. I couldn't hear my partner across the table
Amazing food with a brilliant chef who is more than happy to make minor changes to the menu for those with intolerances. We were sad to hear it was the last day for our waiter as he is amazing and they will be large shoes to fill! Thanks for having us (again, and again, and again).
