The restaurant, apart from us, was empty, but that didn't matter as we could be as noisy as we liked! We were not offered a wine list, which was a surprise, and there was no dessert menu. We only had two to choose from. I complained about the Eton Mess because it was not as it should be. However, the two portions were deducted from the bill which was appreciated.
Amazing food, wine and atmosphere. Love it here
Excellent food, great service and nice atmosphere 👍🏻
Great service and great food in a great location. Staff very friendly and I can recommend the steaks, the scotch eggs and the Eton Mess.
Could not fault the food or service a very enjoyable experience
It's a lovely venue and the service is very attentive but it's let down by a small, unimaginative and overpriced menu. Steak, burger, pizza, fish and chips and three other choices for the mains. They could do so much better and really make this a great place.
Really enjoyed our visit. Food was lovely. Service great.
I’ve visited Velvet for quite a few years mostly for special event’s birthdays/ anniversary’s and always found the experience very good my recent visit I was slightly disappointing mainly the menu choice was small , I couldn’t fault everything else the food was lovely, staff we’re very helpful/ polite , the place was clean and welcoming (sad to see the fish tank gone)
Fish and cheese was delicious
Not good food, bad service
Service and waiting time really disappointed us. That’s not the place you want to celebrate your birthday
Lovely restaurant and overall the food is decent, but could do with a bit more love and attention to details such as: drain oil from calamari before serving, wipe the edge of plates before serving and don't serve cold desserts on warm plates. It wasn't that busy and we were happy to wait for food therefore the finer details could have been addressed.
Only good thing about our visit was the pizza! Very nice pizza. Other food was mediocre and drinks weren’t good we ordered mojitos and didn’t get given those. Would understand if was busy but we were literally the only two people sat in the restaurant.
Staff were very friendly and fun yet still professional. Would 100% come again.
Really good customer service. Food quality was great!
Very good food in a nice atmosphere. The background music wasn’t too loud and they played fun tunes. I look forward to returning.
Great from Jan and his team, made us all feel relaxed. Sunday lunch was fab, beef perfectly cooked!!
Nice enough. Good food. Awesome burger. Lovely seafood risotto and excellent calamari. Generous portions. Food well presented and put together. Just missed something in the vibe of the place. Service was efficient but kind of functional. Trying to be hip and funky maybe but felt a bit not. Fun place to be for cocktails with an easy menu.
Lovely place both the Brasserie and the Hotel.
Service was really friendly from our waitress, she was bubbly and made us feel welcome. Well done.
Will definitely be back.
Starter & sweet excellent & very well presented. Main course (roast beef) let the whole package down - frozen veg & partic frozen roast potatoes, very disappointing. Gravy too watery.
Saturday night. Inside. Looked good - staff felt very inexperienced & nervous. Greeter ran and hid as she couldn’t cope with our arrival. Bloke who took over seating us had food in his beard.
I would have bought another drink if I had been asked!
Food was - Ok - pizza too soggy. If you don’t have a hot enough oven don’t offer them. Salad & pasta dishes were lovely.
Service was slow, and it took a while fie the food to be brought out.
The service was lovely we didn’t have to wait and the staff were friendly.
The food was really nice. I had stuffed chicken breast wrapped in Parma ham. Delicious.
Music was a bit loud for me.
Great restaurant in a lovely area of Manchester
Had date night here, staff were very friendly.
Food came in good time, it wasn't busy.
The food was amazing!
I would say it was expensive for what I had but it did taste lovely.
Would definitely go again.
Highly recommend! Was a little limited on choice due to staffing issues however everyone had a super meal and staff are another level of lovely .. great experience lovely decor and atmosphere too
The food was delicious. It was a nice clean place. Service was good. Food arrived nicely on time. My main issue is that the tables were wobbly.
Excellent experience as always. Great food, wonderful service thank you
Lovely food friendly service. Very nice surroundings. Will go again.
Nice food and atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
Fabulous place. Great food. Service great
The starters were good for all of us. And the second corse was also apart from a dish that had not been cooked correctly. However this item was removed from bill.
Friendly and helpful staff from arrival to departure. Food was very good and and enjoyable evening all round.
Lovely as always
Out with my daughter and atmosphere was good for chatting. Food above average. Will definitely go again
Our second visit, thus time with friends/family.. the food was awesome. We all had burgers, the blush wine by the bottle is great, Nd not over priced... the staff are lovely 😍
Really nice restaurant great location and very slick service
Brilliant, as per usual. Great food, great service, great atmosphere
Good food at a nice price but they'd run out of the wine we selected so we had to go for a more expensive one.
Service was very good, very attentive without being interrupting. Music was too loud initially because they did that thing many venues do if it's not full and turn the music up to compensate. Subsequently we struggled to hear one another, but they immediately turned the music down when we asked and came back to check it was now satisfactory. We really appreciated this. No-Cosmo mocktail was delicious. Starter of pitta and humus, and goat's cheese and fig with honey was excellent and moreish. Mains were just average. My risotto was slightly too under done and could have done with another minute or two. Plus the seasoning in the stock was slightly too salty, but there were plenty of delicious mushrooms and spinach in it. Presentation was good. The fish and chips looked great, but it was all over salted and my companion couldn't finish it because of this. Slightly disappointed they were closing up early as we'd have liked coffees but they had started cleaning the machine. We wouldn't race back but it was an overall satisfactory dining experience. The key strength was the excellent service and the staff should be commended for that.
