A work friend recommended verve for myself and my partners anniversary, and we were not disappointed. The service was sometimes slow (drink orders were forgotten) but it was a very busy night and when we were served all of the waitresses/waiters were really lovely and went above and beyond in terms of customer service. The meals tasted amazing and the portion sizes were huge. The restaurant itself was really cool, such an awesome vibe being in a basement. Overall we had a really great night and will definitely go again

Absolutely great vibe and good food. The beef ragu papadelle was good but nothing special compared to other Italian places. The sticky date pudding with salted caramel sauce was to die for.

We were pleasantly surprised with ambience of the venue and the quality of food served. Standard of service was acceptable but not exceptional however it must be said that staff were very busy at time we went. Only negative was lack of toilets (shared) which needed more regular servicing.

Food great. Service pretty good. Well priced. Meals came promptly. I did find the dark a bit too much for lunch time so I feel it is more of a dinner venue. But over all - great!

Our food was nice , ordered one Ragu pasta and pork belly pasta , but myself and the company we were with just thought the sauce was thick and glugg y . I think we thought it would be thinner to use bread to dip it into. Very nice and felt so full and content

We arrived around 20 minutes early of our booking but was promptly attended to by staff. We were seated at a corner booth, and personally the ambiance at our seats was a little disappointing. Our table was in an alcove with exposed gas meter/valve/piping on the ceiling. Admittedly it was a busy Friday night for Verve with several tables set up to seat large groups, but our table was the worst in the restaurant.

For a party of four, we ordered garlic loaf and calamari as a shared appetizer. The bread was tasty and baked perfectly, crunchy outside and soft inside. I found the calamari a little under seasoned and even with the aioli it still lacked flavour.

Pasta and risotto was ordered for mains. Blue cheese risotto for myself, a seafood risotto, a beef ragu pappardelle, and meat balls linguine. Comments basically agreed that the food was tasty but too large a serving for an individual. Personally, I enjoyed the blue cheese risotto but found my palate overwhelmed with the flavour midway through my meal. I think the tomato sauce in the risotto was not enough to cut the taste of the blue cheese. Even a good seasoning of chilli flakes was unable to dull the blue cheese taste enough for me to enjoy the dish fully.

My wife commented that the seafood risotto was a little too sweet for her palate. Even with the lemon wedge on the plate, it was not enough to lessen the sweet sauce. This might just be a personal preference on flavour.

It was not a perfect dinner but I would not hesitate to go back to Verve. Tasty food is always a good reason to come back.

Music soooooo loud, could not talk to anybody at the table.
It seamed like the music was for the young serving staff, not the professional business lunch customers.

I had the chicken tortellini. I don’t normally get chicken mains as I find the chicken is always dry and unfortunately this was the case with this dish too. The pasta was beautifully cooked though. I have been to Italian restaurants that charge less for the same quality food but what I love about verve is the ambience. It was a bit noisy when the restaurant was busy which made it hard to hear the people I was with but the noise was expected considering the restaurant is below street level. Would still be happy to go back.

The food is delicious and probably deserve its rank of Best casual dining in Brisbane CBD. We conveniently picked this place before a play that was played at the Metro Arts.
The only downside I found is the noise level, it was just 4 of us and I felt I needed to yell for my friends to hear me which wasn't ideal. The service is a little hectic as they are very busy but maybe they should accomodate a bit less table for a better experience overall. The service though was quick and we didn't wait long at all before we get our dishes

Good food at a reasonable price and very quick service, not much more you can ask for really. Ambience is good provided you like the grungy vibe of the place, I do, and it's lively without being so loud that you can't here yourself think.
We've been coming here for years and have never been disappointed and everyone we brought to the place has been impressed. Would have given the food 5 stars but my crab cake starter, although very tasty, thanks to a mix of pesto and a tomato sauces, lacked any real crab flavour. I know crab meat is expensive and the dish at $9 is not but just a little more crab, perhaps even a garnish of little crab meat on top would have lifted it to 5 stars.

We booked the venue for a birthday dinner for a relative. There was no sign that we would be faced with a steep set of stairs to enter the basement (we were eating at 6.30pm), and we had a double pram with us. There were also no high chairs available, and it was almost supposed to be our fault for booking. We ordered drinks and a pasta dish for the toddlers with a bread board. The pasta and breads were pretty much finished before our drinks even arrived and the place was not busy. It was impossible to hear anyone speak and the music was an eclectic mix, which is not bad, just impossible to speak to anyone. The real icing on the cake was the three levels of external stairs that had to be climbed to get to the toilets. With two toddlers and ages from 2 to seventies in our party, that was significant. I think that it should be very clear on their site that there is difficult access to the cafe. The pictures just look like a normal venue but it is far from it. Thank goodness it was not raining for all those tedious toilet stops. I couldn't recommend this place at all. When it was time to leave there wasn't even any assistance trying to get the pram out (they had wedged it between table after disassembling a large group table).

Great find in the centre of Brisbane. We dined at Verve on a Saturday night about 6.30. Pre booked a table for 4 on line which was really easy.
The service was really good as was the food and reasonably priced. The restaurant itself is in a basement with interesting industrial style décor but it all works well and has a great atmosphere. Very busy and was quite noisy so we were glad the waiter directed us to a table in a booth which was quieter. Couldn't fault anything with the food, we all enjoyed the evening and will most definitely be back.

Always love verve, as always was very loud and busy but that's what I expect! Took a while until someone came and asked if we wanted drinks though so I only got 1 drink with dinner when I would have probably preferred to get 2

From the moment you arrive the smell lets you know you're in for a top dining experience. With the pasta made on sight & sauce rich in flavour the food is amazing & worth the visit alone. Combine this with a great chilled atmosphere & awesome value for money the Verve is a top class venue.

Booked the before, got a seat at the back against the wall, very nice spot for our anniversary. It was a 5-10 minute wait for our food after ordering which was lovely, and servuce was pretty good, our waittress did everything she could to accomodate us as well.

Plan to come back.
