Ventanas at the Modern
Latin American dining is getting a boost from David Burke, the chef behind BLT Prime, the steakhouse at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, DC.
Burke, who lives in Fort Lee, is the culinary managing director at VENTANAS. Along with Chef Andrew Riccatelli, they will create a menu blending modern American, Latin and Asian Flavors. Sourcing locally & responsibly from nearby farms and purveyors to reflect the best of each season.
The 7,000-square-foot space will seat 150 people in the dining room, which comes with a chef’s table, 80 people in the Red Room, and 75 to 100 people on the outdoor terrace bar and lounge.
Very loud, food only average, service slow
It was my husbands birthday and they delivered.
My family and I had a wonderful time. I will gladly recommend and come back.
I made a reservation for Thanksgiving dinner at Ventenas and was very disappointed. I had high hopes because it is a David Burke restaurant, but my experience was not a good one. First, the service was really lacking— unprofessional, not attentive, and inconsistent throughout the evening. It was pretty clear that the service staff did not seem well trained; I felt like I was eating at a fifth tier restaurant. Second, my order was not followed correctly; however, the manager did come over and offer a drink to make up for the wrong order. Finally, while not really important, the decor did not match up in quality and design as what the restaurant puts itself out to be.
Not David Burke's best. Food and ambiance was sub-par. The service was great though.
A business is only as good as its people. Our Server Carlos was very attentive to our needs. He was great. Now, going to excellence, you have Anastasia at the back Bar. First, she is a very good mixologist. Seeing her work was amazing. More important, she took the time to banter with her customers. These two Staff members made the night.
Appetizers were very good. The tuna tacos, the bacon excellent. But I knew I was in trouble when they gave me a vegetable knife for my steak. Yes, it's a vegetable knife. The skirt steak was burnt, flavorless as well. I'd go back for some drinks but not to eat.
This is quickly becoming one of my new fave spots for dinner and drinks!
Cool, mixed atmosphere of young and mature. Great music and TVs by the bar for the sports enthusiasts.
I love the unique pairings that are offered on the menu and the bacon on the clothesline appetizer is a MUST!
From the valet staff to the hostess and the servers - excellent customer service.
Great for any occasion, it’s one of the coolest places in NJ with a NYC vibe.
I would NEVER visit this establishment again. Had reservations for 9:45pm and waited an hour and half to be seated, only after complaining to the desk and manager. After being seated, 30 minutes passed and a waitress have yet to even offer water to the table. At this point I gave up, got up from my table and left. The service is HORRIBLE. How can you treat patrons like this? They will try to string you along telling you 10-15 mins more each time you ask. 10-15 mins eventually became a 1.5 hr. wait. Traveled an hour to get there, so disappointed.
We felt that we were rushed out of there. We were having our dessert and we were asked about 5 times if we are finished? So we gave up and let them take the plate even though we were not done. The check came 5 seconds later without being asked if we want anything else. Overall it is a nice place and nice atmosphere. I’ve been there before and I will try again
Based on the hype, I expected the food and service to be outstanding. They were not. The hipster fries sounded like a great idea, but the fries were limp and bland. One guest had the filet and was very underwhelmed. The half roasted cauliflower had unusual flavors and garnishes and just did not work. I had the mushroom and duck risotto special and I thought it was pretty tasty.
The drinks were ok.
The service was spotty. The waiter was a bit too attentive. The guys removing plates from the table asked "Are you done?", which I though was a very rude way of asking if the plates could be removed. Instead of being asked if we would like anything else after dessert and coffee, we were just presented with the check. After we paid we received not so subtle hovering - so there was no relaxing at the end of the meal. The message was loud and clear: get out so we can get another party at the table.
For the amount of money we spent we all came away very disappointed. The hype isn't real, unless you go there to be seen at the bar and not have any expectations of food and service quality.
Everything was awesome minus the service. We never even got offered additional cocktails when we ran out 1/2 way through dinner. Other then the bar being slow and waiter, the food and ambiance was excellent.
Overall experience was very good. This place is a nice alternative to NYC when you live in Bergen Co. It seems to get some celebrities in. Coincidentally, we had a music celebrity sit next to us. It was tacky how the management poured over his table yet didn't once visit ours. I really could care less for their attention or the guy sitting next to us, but their star stricken behavior was obvious.
We were seated right away after all of us arrived. Music is blasting and people were a bit noisy but the Dj’s choice was fine. Service was excellent and the food too
It was an awesome experience to celebrate a special occasion. Everything was excellent; the service the ambience, decor and food.
I loved Ventanas. The vibe and energy was very posh. This is a definite hot spot. The ambience was beautiful. Lively bar scene. Very large dining space and a huge bar. Housewives celebrity sighting. Great for people watching. The food was delicious. The service was great. The drinks were really strong. This placThere is valet parking.
Its a nice concept, and i am sure its beautiful during the warm season. I was not impressed with the food at all. To me it seemed too salty, pretty, but salty. Then the sushi lacked taste. Service was good. General manager attentive to all the customers. Nice vibe and scene of all ages. I went on a Friday night.
Food was pretty tasty. Nice atmosphere good drinks. Service kind of stinks in the sense that you feel rushed throughout your meal. Otherwise pretty good experience. Would come back again.
Very nice and very nice service! Loved it
The food was awesome. We had a party of 7 and everyone enjoyed their food. My favorite dish was the corn and crab dip. We loved the decor. We celebrated my wife's birthday and our waitress definitely made her feel special. The whole staff was friendly and welcoming. We had a great time.
Second time at Ventanas and both times had dinner at the bar with my friends as the vibe is great for people watching, the bartenders make great cocktails and are engaging and you tend to meet others. Tonight we had the lobster dumplings, empanadas, beet salad and the ventanas roll. Everything was good, however I enjoyed the empanadas and beet salad the most. The restaurant is on the pricer side overall and they charge $8 for valet parking. Otherwise you have to park across the street in garage. On the weekend there is a DJ and the crowd starts to build around 10:30/11pm, with the music going full blast by midnight. Overall I like the restaurant/food, the party not really my things. Overall a great place for a night out.
probably one of the better restaurants in fort lee to hang out but the service is average at best.
Absolutely fabulous food. Incredible attention to detail. ALL dishes were excellent.
We enjoyed the restaurant. The food and service was top notch- especially enjoyed the appetizers and the dessert. My husband's steak came out the way he requested and my fish was fresh and tasty. The only thing that surprised me given the food quality and service was the fact that when I ordered tea rather than having a small tea pot or a selection brought to the table (they did ask me what kind of tea I wanted) they came from the kitchen and handed me one tea bag. Even given this, we would go back.
Need more dance music
The overall experience was fair. With a reservation, we still waited 30 mins for a table and were seated in what seemed like the bar area of the restaurant. It felt like we were very separated from everyone else.
The food was ok. Apps were great, but our main dishes were very average and salty. For an anniversary celebration, we didn’t feel special or impressed.
Great food and ambience
I was impressed with everything at this restaurant. The grandiose chandeliers and jelly fish lightning creates the ambiance. The food and service was excellent. There is street parking if you do not care for valet. Great place to celebrate a birthday. Vibe is cool with a mixed age group. If you opt to bring your own cake, there is a $4 serving fee per person. Highly recommend the George Washington cake.
Great venue with wonderful food and service.
A little pricey for what you get but excellent food
It was my birthday the food was amazing, our waitress was a sweetie very attentive. My only complaint was the hostesses, our reservation was at 8:45 and the girl up front said give me a few minutes. 15 mins passed I ask how long is it going to be she didn’t give me a direct answer she said again a few minutes. After 30 mins we were seated. I wouldn’t mind waiting 30 mins had she said that up front. But overall we had a good time.
Very disappointed with service and food. Waited 1.5 hours with the reservation.
Everything was perfect , until the valet took forever to bring my car, there was only one person before me. Had I not compliant, i would still be waiting for my car! Need to hire more staff!!!
Go for the decor but NOT for the food and drinks! Perhaps a wine or bourbon tasting could be okay as well. We weren’t expecting much as we already heard that the food was not great but we wanted to try it ourselves. We were greatly disappointed, the food was just not good and the service left a lot to be desired. Will not be returning, and for someone that has been in the Foodservice industry for over 20 years, will be sharing my review, opinion and pictures...
The service was impeccable but the filet mignon was disappointing because it was tough and hard to cut and too chewy. I did expect a much better piece of meat for the price. Overall was ok limited food choices and wines by the glass very expensive
The menu has just changed with some holdovers of the evr-popular dishes. The Pork Cordon Bleau was fantastic as was the Bison mole. The classic appetizers of clothesline bacon, chorizo/octupus, and lobster dumplings remain exciting and delicious. The usually moderate noise level was unfortunatley beyond loud due to the musical group and birthday party crowd. To preserve the ambience of the large dining area it would have been nice to put the festivities in the side room. The waiting staf is extraordinary- courteous, friendly and efficient.
Great service and they ambience was also good.
The venue is absolutely gorgeous, our waiter was phenomenal but the food wasn't up to par. The food took over an hour and a half for a party of 7. Food is overpriced. Overall I wouldn't go back.
We were disappointed that the steak was very chewy, not “falling off the bone” like the server said. Also there was nothing suitable to eat for our toddler daughter and the dancing in the middle of the restaurant was off-putting.
This place was amazing beautiful people everywhere at the location. This is a grown up classy establishment.
