Vaquero dining is nestled in under the Old Albion town hall built-in the 1800s. Full of character this venue lets the imagination run wild.
The speakeasy style entry through a vintaged themed butcher shop sees the space open up into a beautifully fitted out dining haven.
The food is inspired by the Spanish Vaquero (herdsman) with aged and cured meats front and centre on a beautifully designed ever changing menu.
Chef Damon porter and his team work side by side with a skilled team of bartenders and waiters.

Have been wanting to visit this local restaurant for some time now. So glad we finally made it. Lovely, tasty, well presented food and great service. Always someone on hand for that next glass of wine.

Simply outstanding - we ordered a number of dishes to share and they were all superb - can't wait to try some of the other dishes the next time we return. Staff were fast to satisfy our requests and friendly without being obtrusive - we'll be back!!

Loved my experience at Valquero.The food was delicious and innovative, the staff both knowledgeable and attentive. I had the special of the day, turkey,with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc a steal at $25, my friends had the octopus...not a morsel left behind. The Xmas tree croquembouche dessert was a big hit, mini Chou pastries filled with chocolate mousse with raspberries and red currents and topped with a lacy toffee cone. Yum!

After spending nearly $100 a head for a table of 4 to celebrate my son’s medicine graduation I was very disappointed with the Visa surcharge. This was a dampener for me and something not experienced too much these days. The surcharge appeared to be a gouge by the owners in addition to paying top dollar for food and drink. It undermined what was otherwise a great meal!
Vaquero, charge a bit more if you have to but eliminate the surcharge, you’ll be losing customers without knowing.

Had driven past this place on many occasions wanting to go so as soon as we moved to the area the 1st restaurant we picked to go with friends was Vaquero. It is definitely more of a special occasions style restaurant not a regular but in saying that i guess you dont have to splurge on bottled wines entrees mains desserts and cocktails like we did everytime you visited (close to $500 for 4 pax, which is certainly more than reasonable, for a special occasion) so i may just have to take another wander down with the hubby and experience it again as a 'regular' visit ( oh the shame of it) This venue is a MUST to visit. One of the best dinners our friends and i have had over the last 15yrs. My review may not make sense but thats because im still so excited :)

The ambiance was great and the tables were spacious. It was annoying that the menu for one entree meal failed to state that there was an item containing prawn derivative, when one of us is highly allergic. The staff promised to change the menu description for the future and compensated by offering free dessert. The pork main was overcooked and tough. However, all the other meals were top class.

My fiancee took me here for dinner. The service was exceptional and food delicious. We had the charcuterie board, pork, octopus and broccoli. My partner doesn't like broccoli, he ordered it for me and loved it! Delicious, tasty, flavoursome . We are both good cooks and like to try food we can't cook at home. This definitely knocked it out of the park.

A most pleasant experience. Food was sooooooooo good. Staff very friendly and willing to chat - good stuff. My GF & NF requiremnts were meet with alterations to the selected meals - very impressed.

3 out of 4 diners enjoyed the food, main meal of pork was fatty. They offered to replace with another menu item, but in the end we agreed on a complimentary dessert. Dessert was very nice. No real issues with the food, Didn’t really seem to have enough wait staff. I think that made us feel like we were an inconvenience. For the price it was a fairly disappointing evening. It was great when it first opened. . I hope we just caught an average night and that it will be great again. Will give it another chance

I was very impressed 4 months ago - but this time the wines seem to be more expensive and the meal portions have shrunk! One person ordered pork belly - not to share, but he ate it in 3 bites! $36.

A fabulous evening. Delicious crafted dishes of home produced goods such as the cured meats and freshly baked sourdough. The mid-week tasting menu was excellent value for money - we were so full! We'll definitely be returning.

My husband recently took me here for my birthday. This restaurant I can highly recommend the food was awesome, loved walking through the butcher
shop to the restaurant, we had pre dinner drinks at the wine bar, we will definitely be back again

Really lovely atmosphere and unique menu. Menu items were interesting and good for sharing... all our orders were delicious. We enjoyed the charcoal octopus, pork and quail dishes. All very beautifully presented and amazing flavour combinations. Dessert was delicious but since one item had sold out there wasn’t much to choose from. Service was friendly and attentive but a bit slow but we think our waitress was new so she still did well and made us feel welcome. We would definitely come back!

That Vaquero was busy on a Tuesday evening speaks volumes as to the quality of food and service. The charcuterie board made an ideal entree. Our waitress was knowledgeable and from her suggestions we enjoyed the highlights of the menu. The snowman dessert was a fine finish to an enjoyable evening.

... and boom goes the dynamite.

On our way to Vaquero, my wife and I were lamenting about the poor state of dining out options in Brisbane. We listed all the bad experiences we'd had. It's not that we're foodies - we're not - we just want one thing. Good food. Not fancy decor or polished staff or any of the other showy 'instaworthy' things that so many restaurants seem to be valuing over what's truly important. We want the one thing you can't capture on your iPhone. The one thing that requires patience and refinement. The one thing that's personal about dining out. Good food.

But Vaquero doesn't do good food, it does great food. It satisfies every sense. We shared a charcuterie board to start and coupled it with a caprese salad. Both were artistically well-balanced. We then had the aged beef and free range pork for mains with a side of the Basque style sweet potatoes. I had the pork with the intentions of sharing it with my wife. She didn't get a look-in. It was the best pork I've ever had (when I said this to the chef, he replied, it's the best pork I will ever have ... arrogance is acceptable when you're accurate). To finish we had the petit fours. You know a good dessert when you feel less full after you've finished it then when you started. It opens a space. This is what the dish did for us.

While my wife and I value good food above everything else, it's nice (and important) to note that Vaquero also ticks the other boxes. Te setting is lovely and considered. Staff are polite and friendly, without being intrusive. There's a buzz that is energising (even for newish parents on little sleep like us). And, most of all, there's a cohesiveness about the place. Nothing is out of place, superfluous, or awkward. Everything has a purpose and a reason.

On our way home, my wife and I were lamenting about the poor state of dining out options in Brisbane. We listed all the bad experiences we'd had. Vaquero didn't come up.

We had a wonderful dinner at Vaquero. I have severe food intolerances meaning I rarely eat out but the staff were incredibly helpful. The cocktails were absolutely delicious and I look forward to dining here again. Albion is lucky to have such a gem!
