This was the worst dining experience we have ever had. The food was not edible and the drinks were not good either. The atmosphere was nice but the food was expensive and very poor quality. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Good food, great service!
Food was good but server was not great. Be prepared to wait and really don’t recommend if you are pressed on time.
Excellent experience tonight. Food was very good and definitely worth the price. Service was great. Definitely recommend visiting if you're in Portland.
Always good food and service!
Had the goat cheese appetizer and the scallops for my main entrée. Both were superb. Everyone else in the group also enjoyed their meals very much. The quality of the food at Union has always been fabulous. The restaurant was also very accommodating when I had to make changes to my reservation three times! Thank you for a very enjoyable evening!
Great food and wonderful service. We are from out of state and this is the second time we’ve been here. We’ll be back.
Service was really bad but everything else was awesome. 7 people, 3 hour meal, only got asked for cocktails twice.
Salt and pepper squid was divine as was the goat cheese arancini. Wine and drinks nice. Faroe island salmon great, roasted beets a bit under (fine by me). Scallops tasty, yummy herb creme. Brussel sprouts excellent. Not michelin star but very good. $200 with tip. Handy and very nice valet.
Was in Portland, Maine, for vacation and stayed at The Press hotel. Ate breakfast and dinner at the Union. Staff was friendly and restaurant was clean. Food as always was great. Definitely a repeat choice.
Union never disappoints and it’s wonderful that it is getting back to normal. The scallops with mushrooms were outstanding-the mushrooms were almost as good as the scallops which were perfectly cooked. All four of us enjoyed our dinner and looked forward to going back. Our server was friendly and informative and indulged me with blue cheese stuffed olives in my martini for my birthday. We had a great time!
I appreciate the theme, "altogether local", but while important and even laudable, that's not the point. The food is so extraordinary it leads me to believe Chef Berry could transform most any ingredients magically. The attention to detail in ingredient pairing, preparation and presentation is world class. At this level of execution, having a server actually interested in enhancing our experience rather than her experience was just what was needed to top off a 10 star experience!
We spent a night at The Press for my birthday, decided to eat at Union for dinner. Making reservations the same day was efficient and speedy. The food was so good we came back for breakfast the next day!!! Service, food, drinks, decor, everything was amazing!!! Thank you
Great place, great food and service. Highly recommended
Good experience. Food is great, but the environment is only fair.
Excellent service and cuisine. It seems from the menu and presentations that there is a new chef. The touch is a bit more heavy using some light cream or creamed sauces vs. the lighter style we previously enjoyed. None of this detracts from the excellence of the preparations.
Service was again some of the best and I'd match it against any restaurant in Portland or elsewhere.
The food was out of this world, and our waitress was one of the best we've ever had! 1000% would recommend
We went to the Union for brunch. The first table they offered us was actually not clean and the glass window right next to the table had messy food stains, fingerprints and smudges on it. Not a good thing with all the COVID-19 protocols they have in place. Masks must be worn except while seated. All servers and cooks are wearing masks. Capacity is also limited. We asked for a different table and were seated at the bar which was nice and spacious. The service is on point and friendly. The food was good too , I had the burger w/ fries ($16) It was made with really good quality meat.
A birthday brunch for four which two diners had very tight dietary restrictions and they graciously Accommodated them which made my life much easier.
Food was not only beautiful but a culinary delight.
Thanks to Union.
It was the first time I had dined out in a long time and the experience did not disappoint. As usual the food was amazing and Roxwell did a fantastic job taking care of us.
Food was delicious. The arancini were great. Get the buttermilk biscuits.
Union is, bar none, the best restaurant in Portland!
Great food and great service. One of my favorite restaurants
Squid was amazing ! Grey sole fantastic! Charcuterie over-the-top ! ! Chef adjusted for gluten-free. Do NOT miss the side of caramelized Brussels sprouts. DO have the chocolate dessert..,
Nice experience. It was during COVID times so I know the rules make for an awkward dining experience.
Everything was well spread out. Every single person working was working incredibly hard and staying busy the whole time. People were extremely pleasant.
Food was excellent!
It was overrated and disappointing. Our server was very nice, but the entrees were lackluster. There were no chef specials and I had failed to preview the menu. Lesson learned.
Hot bartender, great drinks, good food, can't go wrong!
Seasoning was inconsistent
Focus more on flavors as opposed to trendy
Hostess sent us to the hotel lobby to wait for our table saying we would receive a text when it was ready. 40+ mins later, no text. We went to see what the issue was and were told by a different host that the table was and had been ready. Cool vibe and great food but I struggle to give a high rating because the unnecessary wait was enough to put a damper on the night.
Great service, waitress, and ambience. Our brunch was perfect and delightful. Looking forward to eating the again when visiting Portland.
Far too many tastes chasing after each other in the same dish. The sum of the parts is overwhelming (salmon, lentils, raisins, beet puree, swiss hard, e.g.) To the chef: Less is more!
Great restaurant in a beautiful part of Portland. Delicious, great service, good people, good atmosphere. Will definitely return!
The food never disappoints! Best brunch in Portland, which is really saying something. We usually have the pleasure of dining in Jamie's section, and she's always fantastic. If large, delicious, fairly priced portions of fresh food served in an upscale environment by a great staff are things you enjoy... Get to Union ASAP!
Honestly, I went into union very excited to be there. Their marketing, photos, and website were all beautiful. The staff were all exceptionally nice. That being said, upon dining, I was at a loss. The food that all photographed exceptionally well was beyond bland. If there is a positive, it’s that it felt like clean eating. That being said, there are plenty of herbs that could have been used to still provide clean eating while still providing flavor. Our experience felt very manufactured. The perfect, safe, photo op with what appears to be little to no passion behind the product that goes out. I can honestly say, after spending a full 7 days in Portland, trying a new restaurant for each meal - breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this meal was by far the most disappointing.
As usual the kitchen and staff provided an outstanding breakfast in a setting conducive to conversation amid privacy and with attention to our needs.
Easter Sunday. The fresh Campanelle pasta wss over cooked. The fluted (ribboned) edges were separated from the cones of the pasta which detracts from the presentation and was a bit mushy. The crab, truffle oil, lemon and mint were a delicious combination.
