On top of that, we have 4 kinds of popular Omakase courses starting at $100 and going to $120, $150 and $170.
One of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles!
Three person family reunion. We wanted: excellent food, attentive but discrete service, quiet ambiance, comfort and relaxed atmosphere. This restaurant delivers that great experience every time!!
Menu was eclectic, disorganized with prices written in over whiteout. Restaurant was 1/3 full on a Saturday evening. Service was good. Food average.
Best sushi in LA!
Umeda is hands down the best sushi in Los Angeles.
Very creative and fresh food. Small charming very clean and modern. Service was spectacular. Will definitely be back.
Amazing staff and incredible food!
It was a great evening. The good was stonishing.
We ate at the counter which was fun, watching the chef work. Very fresh fish. We ordered a la carte but watched the prix fixe meals go out which looked wonderful and are priced well. Great sushi, sashimi and cooked food options.
The food is fresh, original, and excellent. The is a menu just for vegetarians, making it much easier to bring a variety of friends.
Modern cool aesthetics, good food and ice atmosphere.
Every dish was prepared with the highest quality food.
AMAZING FOOD, great service, wonderful food, go elsewhere if you are price shopping sushi. Worth the price, you get what you pay for. Amazing
Very creative interpretation of high end modern Tokyo style sushi. Go for the omahase.
All the dishes were too salty that covered the original flavor of the fish And meat. Also, the waiter didn’t ask us about allergy on food that makes a seafood restaurant seemed not that professional.
Very attentive service. Extremely fresh fish and lovely delicate sauces. Great presentation. Plan to go back often.
Wonderful service and high quality sushi in a peaceful setting. worth the trip and price
It is entirely possible I ate here on an off day, and it is entirely possible that my tastes and expectations are different from others who have eaten here.
I really, really left disappointed. Despite being the first to arrive during lunch service, the restaurant slowly filled up around me and my dining companion and we had yet to place our order. There was only one server present and she seemed overwhelmed. It ended up that she took nearly every other table's order before she came back for us 30 minutes later.
We had to consistently flag her down to ask for a tea refill.
Our food came out slightly out of order (we both had a lunch combination).
My main course - jidori chicken with miso - was an abomination. Overcooked, cold, dry and bland. The sauce tasted like a haphazard combination of tabasco and yuzu.
The spicy tuna roll was nice but tiny.
The service was really the downfall of the dining experience, but the meal itself just wasn't memorable. I hope it was an off day, because I'd honestly rate this the most disappointing Japanese meal I've had in LA. There are so many other better options.
Truly inspired food. Great experience. Go! Make sure to get the tasting. Everything was a amazing but a standout was the lobster in a creamy sauce and the hamachi.
Worst customer service. We did not receive any food after 55 minutes of waiting and decided to walk out finally. The server was clueless on how to take orders. Did not understand what items I tried to order. We did not get waters until 30 minutes after we were seated. Not once did a manager or someone come to ask us how things were. Strongly advise do not eat at this restaurant!
Amazing gem of a sushi place!
Excellent Japanese food with a creative but authentic twist. Great cocktails and wine list. Charming albeit minimal ambience
The actual dishes weren't as nice as the atmosphere and service.
Great Japanese restaurant. Very traditional!!!
Dining here was an enjoyable experience. I saw from previous reviews that others thought highly of the restaurant, and I wasn’t disappointed. Great service throughout the dinner service, and the food was solid. Some creative plating, modern minimalistic surrounds, and a cozy dining area. I would not hesitate to go back.
This was our third time to UMEDA. First time udon lunch, second time sushi and sashimi lunch specials, third time sushi and sashimi dinner specials. Every time excellent food and exceptional service. We live a short 10 minute walk from UMEDA and love that we have such an exceptional restaurant so close by. UMEDA is also very quiet, a welcome attribute in Los Angeles the home of noisy restaurants.
Great food and service
Fantastic sushi and sashimi, great selection of saki.
Love the below the radar vibe of Umeda. Such a neighborhood gem!
Awesome. Food good and service friendly.
Umeda is a lovely and very pretty restaurant with a friendly, accessible staff. The ambience is warm, calm, and clean. They get high marks for their welcome. I've been to other high end restaurants where the hosts or hostesses show only faint interest in our patronage.
The food is outstanding and prepared with great care and attention. The menu offers a wide array of dishes, from sashimi and sushi to cooked foods. Appetizers were intriguing, including tiny fish and baby squid. The sushi in the dinner set was perfect and not painted with unnecessary sauces. Everything was fresh and delicious.
My husband enjoyed the wine and sake selections with his sensitive palate, and his choices were very agreeable.
If I choose to spend a decent amount of money on food, then I hope the restaurant gives its customers the courtesy to treat them well. Umeda does this perfectly. I thought our visits to this restaurant were well worth our time, and we enjoyed our meals greatly.
I would recommend this restaurant to others. It's a hidden gem that we found only because we saw it as we parked to go to Mozza Osteria. I hope others will find this restaurant and try it.
Ridiculously expensive and not deserving of that. More expensive than Matsuhisa where this chef is from but not as good. For this price rather go to a dozen other far more stellar places
Impeccable prepared, traditional Japanese sushi. Authentic through and through.
The best sushi in LA hands down. You can’t even find sushi like this in Japan. Chef Umeda studied under Chef Nobu and you can tell!
Amazing food and attentive service
Fresh. Delicious. Do it!
Portions are tiny. Not good value for the cost.
The servers were very friendly.
Food was good. Took about an hour to get appetiser (miso soup) understaffed and was a waste of time an money.
