Trunk Ratings and Reviews
Our young family enjoyed a lovely lunch (in the restaurant) to celebrate Fathers Day. Trunk has an extensive drinks menu, portion sizes were perfect (not oversized) and I was pleased to see gluten free pasta & pizza options (even though I ended up chosing the Italian Seafood Bisque - Yum!) Great choice for when you are in the Melb CBD; cool outdoor eating area and a casual Diner that can be booked for functions (with optional open roof-top)... my 40th Celebration may be on the cards...! ~Enjoy~
Trunk is a great location for dinner, particularly if you're going to see a show at Her Majesty's down the road. The food was delicious and the wait staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant is also quite a popular spot for post work drinks as there is a nice bar inside. This might not be the best spot if you're looking for a quiet dinner, however if you don't mind a bit of noise, this is definitely worth a visit.
I have been to Trunk a few times but this time I was extremely disappointed with the food. I had the gnocchi truffles mushroom ragu, marscapone, chives and it was nothing like I expected. I did not expect a ragu to be so creamy and liquidy. I could not taste the truffle flavour, or the chives but I could taste an overpowering flavour of salt! We did enjoy the arancini balls and the duck terrine. The pizzas were fine but the gnocchi!!! Great service though! Loved our waitress and the free bread..
Special occasion dinner for my wife's birthday, our waitress was on the ball from the. Grinning. Took our drinks order asap, explained all the specials and asked if we had any dietary requirements. Food was great, we started with antipasto & fries ( odd but nice) to start with. Ordered our mains and we had a vegetarian, a carnivore and two regular diners all of us enjoyed our meals. We had desert and cocktails to finish are really lovely evening.
Service is always superb, whether we eat inside or outside. Julien and his team in the restaurant always goes above and beyond welcoming and looking after us. Outside on the Diner side, Lily and team also do the same - what we love is the familiarity w/o overfamiliarity, service, people who love their jobs and consistency is key! Well done!
The restaurant and its staff were very friendly and accommodating. I went with my mothers group, ten of us with little babies, on a Thursday and the staff had reserved an area for our prams as well as a long table for us. It was really lovely to go out with the girls. We all had a really great time, the food and the atmosphere was excellent!
The best thing about this experience was the service. Our waitress made us feel comfortable, always asked us if everything was up to standard which the food was. She always also went the extra mile by squatting down to eye level to answer any questions and explain the specials. Also very very well mannered. Thank you, will be returning in the near future.
The staff were very accommodating when we had to add an extra person to our booking at the very last minute. They brought crayons and paper out for my three year-old, and didn't make us feel bad for bringing a toddler to dinner (as some places do). The kids menu was good, but my son was happy to eat from the adults' plates. The food was great, very tasty and decent-sized portions.
Was disappointed this time around. Unlike other nights of the week, Friday nights at Trunk are more of a watering hole rather than an upmarket trendy restaurant.
The ambience just didn't suit a nice dining experience. As a matter of fact i can't even remember anything about the food just how difficult it was to hear our collegues talk.
We went here for my daughter's Birthday lunch. We were warmly welcomed and service was efficient and friendly. We were thrilled with our food choices with the char grilled prawns on couscous being a stand out dish. The salad served with the meals were interesting and delicious. A very pleasant dining experience.
Great service, very accommodating of additional guests and of us bringing a birthday cake to be served.
Also conscious of time frames regatding tickets to show at the neatby Her Majestus theatre.
Everyone enjoyed their meals, portions were good size and presentation great.
The only thing that detracted from the meal was it was a 36 degree day and there appeared to not be any air conditioning.
