Food was just ok. Service was mediocre at best. Table was bad. Just not a great experience.
This place gets the job done well, just like all in the Max group. The food won't win any gourmand awards, but it's solid, and portions are big. Good value, and they'll efficiently get you out in time for tip off at the XL Center. Two thumbs up on the wine list. We are from NYC, so the prices seemed more than reasonable.
First time there and it was absolutely great!! Food, the wait staff... can’t wait to go back!!
My wife and I went for lunch both had the hangar steak which was cooked perfectly medium rare. The steak was excellent and the sauce remarkable. Service was outstanding. The one drawback was that our french fries didn;t come out the same time as our entree. All in all a great dining experience and we will be back.
Open Table is always a great first place to look for a new restaurant. And this was no exception. Service and food was amazing.
Once again; Trumbull Kitchen was outrageously wonderful. From the time we arrived and were warmly greeted by Johnny—lunch was just terrific. We started with drinks and the understanding that we were going to see Anastasia at the Bushnell. Lunch was perfectly paced to ensure that we were not rushed; yet, able to enjoy every aspect. The sweet potato shrimp fritters were served hot and just delicious. My friend had the volcano sushi and I had my usual: chicken lettuce wraps. Both were delicious and thoroughly enjoyed. Johnny is a wonderful, kind and gracious server; he is an integral part of our visit to Trumbull Kitchen. Once again; they came through with terrific food and excellent service!
As always very attentive and courteous wait staff!
Food is always amazing... unfortunately it took 45 minutes to get our lunch and we really needed to rush through the meal to get back to work.
Noisy . Food good and service was ok too. Prices are reasonable. Not great ambience due to bar crowd nearby tables.
Brendan our waiter was very good and an asset to the restaurant. The food was tasty and hot and served with care.
Excellent food in a busy environment ... hectic UCONN cried in game night.
Waiter appeared rushed but was courteous.
Owner stopped by which was a nice touch and appreciated . Cobb sale was particularly good.
The entree selections, while limited, were ample.
Soup selection was limited to one choice.. coconut, basil ... fortunately it was very good.
Restrooms are in an inconvenient location adjacent to the kitchen. Waiters with plates of food moving quickly is a recipe for a spill.
TB is our restaurant of choice on game night and this will not change.
The service was very good. The waiter attended to our needs without being intrusive. The food, while good, was overpriced. $14.00 for a chicken and swiss cheese sandwich is a bit much. Overall, a nice lunch and an enjoyable time.
Server was really excellent. Super funny and present at just the right times, but also let us alone/we weren’t hounded. The food was really great. We split 6 small plates and a single desert and we’re quite full, probably could have done 4 plates. The curried noodle tk standard dish and Korean bbq buns were the true standouts but everything was delicious. Drinks were also made well. Definitely will be back!
Always have a great experience at TK! We had the short ribs and salmon; both delicious. Nice selection of beer and wine. Great service...and a table right where we requested. Nothing better before a UCONN win!
It was a nice experience for dinner, our server was great. The main complaint we would have is that it felt like it was 90° inside the restaurant. The food that we order was great, the atmosphere was good, but the heat inside the restaurant was unbearable. We liked the nice corner table that they seated us at, we would come again.
We visited on New Year's Eve with friends and were very pleased. We arrived early and were seated before our reservation time. The food was excellent as was the service. We will return.
Outstanding food and service! Family friendly as well.
From the reservation via OpenTable to the time we left the experience was very pleasant. We tried had the Caesar salad, the burger and the pulled pork sandwich. All was very good and cooked to order. The service was profesional yet relaxed. It was also timely as we were going to a show at the XL. Will return!
First timers and we will definitely return!
Service was excellent. Food suggested was perfect.
Great place to go before an XL Center event. Very good food and great service
The food was excellent and service by Melissa could not have been better. We decided to share four apps for dinner so we could have more variety. Very satisfied. Excellent choice.
Went on a really busy Sat night Dec 21st. We were seeing an 800pm show at Theatreworks but our reservation was at 630pm and its only a block away. It took 20 minutes for the waiter to take our order! We did tell the waiter later that we were seeing an 800pm show. We didn’t get our food until 730pm! Ridiculous. I will probably go back because the food was really good, and I take partial blame for not letting the waiter know right away we were seeing an 800pm show. But no excuse for taking 20 minutes to take our order. We even tried to order but the waiter brushed us off and said he’d get the drinks first. We also asked for a gluten free menu twice, once from the hostess when seated and from the waiter. It never came. Normally service is top notch here so not sure what happened.
Excellent food..warm,friendly atmosphere. Patriots game on. Nice wait staff. Always confident that it will be a wonderful experience at Max’s
Trumbull Kitchen is always great, no matter whether you are grabbing drinks and apps or having lunch or dinner. It has great service and food. My go to place...
It was great - always good
Came here after many years because we were going to Theaterworks. This remains one of my favorite Max Restaurants (the other is Max Fish). Menu still a little quirky and that is what I like about it. And a few of my old favorites were still included! The potato leek soup was delicious and the smaller Pad Thai serving was more than enough. Even with the ice/snow storm, the place was full and buzzing with positive energy.
Love Trumbull Kitchen. Always good, but the food was even better than usual this evening.
We are not from the area and found this online because it was near the venue we were going to. Excellent food, we loved our server, the ambiance was great. A good buzz in the air but not too noise. Great value for great food!
We were greeted by several staff who were all friendly, welcoming & attentive. Service by Brett was perfect. The food was superb. TY so much for a great evening.
Without fail, every time I dine at the Trumbull Kitchen there are new menu items to sample that surpass my expectations. The service is always excellent!
Great spot before a show at the Bushnell. Great food!
Excellent service. The food was just ok. Nothing over the top. Especially for the price.
Would recommend Trumble Kitchen over Max
Great food. Old fashion favorites with a different flare.
Food and drinks were outstanding.
We have a great time. This is the 1st time in a long time that my husband who has celiac was able to have a drink and appetizer the main meal and a dessert. That never ever happens, so thank you very much.

Hi Rhonda, Thank you so much for the great review. Happy to hear you had a great experience. We hope to see you back in soon!!! Thanks, David Trumbull Kitchen
If your downtown for a concert it’s a good spot but I wouldn’t go downtown just to go there..
One of the beat restaurants in Hartford!
We had a very nice table in the rear. It was much less noisy then up front where it was a busy happy hour. I had beet salad and hanger steak, the latter due to half portion option. It was good but not great. My husband liked his a tad better. Very lively happy hour going on in front of the restaurant but our corner table in rear was cozy and more quiet. Our waitress was excellent. We had theater tickets and she was mindful of that.
