Trattoria iL Gusto Wine Bar
The real treat of the evening was definitely the cacio e pepe--even without the truffles it would have been authentic. We felt as if we were somewhere in Rome. The lamb chops were perfectly cooked and the sauce was absolutely gorgeous. We loved the delightful glass of limoncello to top off a perfect evening. Will definitely be back--the heaters kept us warm and comfortable.
Impeccably attentive but unobtrusive service. Excellent wine list. Homemade tiramisu was 10/10.
Service is excellent. I'm a vegan and they made accommodations for me by leaving dead pig out of my yummy pasta dish, and replacing with beautiful mushrooms. So, that was nice. I think they could use a few vegan options, as the future is vegan as we all can figure out by now. Terrific wine list. Service is very top. Thank you for your efficient and knowledgeable service. Always a fun night there!
Eat there all the time find them very indifferent
The waiters could have been a bit more helpful in explaining the electronic menu.
Great neighborhood restaurant and covid friendly outdoor patio. The additions of heat lamps a big plus.
We were not rushed and had great food and service! Great outdoor dining!
Very good. Will be back on our next visit to NYC. Highly recommend
I'm picky. I'd go back. Eggplant appetizer was particularly delicious. Staff very professional.
So wonderful! We’re treated so well.
Everything was great it wasn’t busy so got great service and my fish was fresh and delicious
A bit of a slow start, service-wise, but everything was delicious and fresh. Our waiter suggested an excellent wine to substitute the one we chose but wasn't available. A really nice outdoor setting, so hopefully they'll have heaters as we approach cooler temps.
Excellent birthday dinner experience. All 5 of us loved the food, service and ambience.
Amazing service and food. Did not have to wait for our table and I will be going back ASAP. Thank you to this staff for making our night memorable!
Host waiter has an attitude and not service oriented. Food is so-so. Unbelievably, when we tipped 15% the waiter returned to our table to say that 18% was the minimum. Very awkward and rude. Won't be going back.
I enjoyed a really nice dinner at Trattoria il Gusto. The food and service were great, and the prices were very reasonable. The homemade tiramisu is a must.
Good Italian food with a nicer ambience in the outdoor seating than most restaurants in the neighborhood. Not world-class, but it doesn't pretend to be.
Trattoria il Gusto has a great sidewalk set-up on Columbus Avenue with an easy reservation system.
My table ordered the Barese and the Filetto di Pomodoro with two cocktails. Drinks were generous and service was attentive. The Barese was very good, but the Filetto di Pomodoro (spaghetti) tasted like the spaghetti you’d have at your football team dinner the night before the game — good, but not worth $16.
That describes my experience with Trattoria — good, but too expensive.
lovely meal on a perfect fall evening. This is a great place on the UWS for outdoor dining, tables are set back from the street and covered , spacious outdoor seating area allows for social distancing, access menu through your phone. Felt comfortable and safe. Simple basic Italian food was fresh and well prepared. service was friendly and casual.
The food was OK, nothing to get me to return, and nothing better than I can make at home. But when you don't want to cook or bother yourself this restaurant will do. What is needed however is a better attitude by the waitstaff. One doesn't get the impression that they are glad you came or that they are anxious to be of service. They don't go the extra step and even though they were wearing masks, they were definitely not smiling.
Our waiter was very warm and friendly, and made recommendations that were on point. This was my second time dining here, and I will continue to support this terrific neighborhood restaurant.
My husband and I love this wonderful Italian restaurant. The food is excellent as is the highly personal service. It is a regular destination for us.
Good food and service and tables far apart. It felt safe.
Trattoria is outstanding, and in this new Covid world, their outdoor setup is even more welcoming. The food is always terrific--consistently delicious, and the service is enthusiastic and cheerful. I recommend Trattoria to everyone.
The host/server put out a negative vibe that tainted the evening, and ended with trying to over charge us for one of the three bottles of wine we ordered.
We had a lovely dinner at a real neighborhood gem. The service was excellent and everything we ate was great! We look forward to returning!
Pre-pandemic, we (self, husband, teenage kids) used to come here every few weeks because it was in the neighborhood, the food was pretty good, the wine list better, and we could usually get a reservation (or just drop in) without much trouble . Under current conditions I like it even better! It has a fairly spacious outdoor dining area (by NYC standards), most of which is under a roof, providing some protection from rain. OK, from light rain. You wouldn't want to be there in a downpour. Also, it is the only restaurant on the block, so there aren't a lot of people sitting/standing/milling around without masks, which makes me nervous in other neighborhoods. The food is still pretty good, and the servers do their best under more challenging conditions. As long as the weather remains mild, we will return!
Nice spaced out outdoor dining. Food was ok not bad overall. Good service.
Both food and service were excellent. Have been working in the city for the past month and eaten at numerous outdoor restaurants. This was by far the most comfortable. All 4 of us had the summer cucumber and mango salad to start. I had the lamb chops with mushroom risotto and my companions all had one of the chicken dishes. We were all very pleased.
The outdoor seating was pleasant and the service was good. Three of us had the seafood pasta but varying amounts of seafood and sauce.
This place is getting it right! Covid precautions visibly in place. Tables spaciously situated, staff are masked and take is seriously (not masked with nose exposed, etc.), service and food were excellent. Had a fantastic dinner and evening out without worrying! Bravo! We’ll be back!
We went for my girlfriend's birthday dinner and were extremely disappointed. We arrived a little early (~15 mins) and instead of letting us know that the table wouldn't be ready until our reservation time, they just told us to wait on the side for a few minutes even though there were several open tables. We should have left at that point, since it only got worse. The service was terrible, we couldn't even get a refill on our water glasses after asking multiple times. To top it all off, the food had no flavor and reminded me why I've been preferring to cook at home instead of going out and supporting local businesses. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place unless you enjoy extremely mediocre food with atrocious service.
Trattoria is managing the inconveniences imposed by the pandemic quite well. The food was good and the servers were pleasant and responsive. We were there at Saturday brunch time, so it was busy. The atmosphere was cheerful and family-friendly.
Never disappoints! So happy they survived the shutdown and really appreciate all the safety measures they put in place.
Very pleasant. Food delivered well. Tasted very good, well prepared.
Food was good. Nice outdoor setting during COVID pandemic.
Doing a great job during the pandemic. Tables are spaced well, all servers are masked and gloved. Food reliable and tasty. So grateful for a place to go to and feel comfortable.
They made me feel like it was my own restaurant
