At Trattoria Emilia we seasonally change the menu and source a large majority of our produce from regional Victoria, our meat is organic and sustainably grown in Tasmania and we import some of the best Italian DOC products. Some dishes that are not to be missed are the Antipasti board which changes daily as well as the Tortelloni Emiliani, and don't forget to try the crowd favourite salumi e gnocco fritto with mortadella mousse (and if you have a bottle of something special bring it along Monday - Wednesday when we offer BYO!)
Rustic, yet refined, Trattoria Emilia boasts fantastic ambience, attentive and professional service whilst all the while remaining a great casual dining spot perfect for a quick lunch, a long relaxing dinner with friends and has always been a romantic date spot.
Saturday: 8:00am - 10:00pm
Absolutely superb Italian cuisine. We had the Winter Tasting Menu and every course was excellent.
The customer service was also above and beyond the standard.
Lovely Italian restaurant. Great food & wine, excellent service and a warm and romantic ambience.
Fantastic food and a good wine list. Experienced and courteous waiters
Such a lovely place people so friendly
Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our dinner. Order wrong, two dishes woefully undercooked (half the ravioli in one dish was perfect, the other pieces in the same bowl were inedible - very odd) and a 50 minute wait between entree and mains on a non-busy Monday night. Lovely wait staff let down by the food/kitchen. We had high hopes. Maybe just a bad night?
Lovely little hidden away restaurant in the heart of the Melbourne CBD
Recommended to us by friends and it didnt let us down. Great food and wine list.
We’ve been here twice now & both times trying different things on the menu have been fantastic. Good traditional food cooked in a modern way that really showcases the produce used. Will definitely be going back.
The food didn’t live up to my expectation. Service was great and ambiance was good.
Magnificent food, excellent service. Our server was there when we needed him and disappeared quietly when we didn't, everything was delicious and generous with extra bread etc.
Only thing I didn't like was thee 2 person tables are too small, otherwise perfect.
excellent food , easy to book! Thanks for a great night
Pleasant enough food and vibe for dinner but an expensive experience.
The food and service were excellent. The restaurant has good selection of Italian wine. Loved their bread , amazing! I had gnocchi and my friends had risotto and fish of the day. All food was excellent quality.
The atmosphere is really authentic and it is not very noisy, you can actually have conversation and really relax and enjoy your food.
I've been to this restaurant number of times and will definitely come back. Love it and it is reasonably priced.
Delicious dinner with my daughter; we have been there before on several occasions - its always good value and delicious food.
Very friendly wait staff and very good at their job. Knowledgeable about the menu, the cuisine, the wine etc. attentive but not intrusive . Food was authentic and well presented - very flavoursome.
interesting menu, excellent pasta in atmospheric setting
Emilia is consistently excellent with its food, wine selections and outstanding knowledgeable service. On this occasion, special effort was made to tailor options for a vegetarian friend well beyond the usual cursory one entree, one main course. Our friend was delighted and it made us all very happy.
Great place for a smart casual eat in a perfectly cool mid-range environment. Meaty pasta dishes, of high quality ingredients, with maximum flavour. We loved it.
Food was homely and the environment is cosy. Great place to enjoy an authentic meal in a quite location in the city
Great place with interesting authentic Italian food. Good wine selection, attentive service and helpful recommendations. We came early and stayed late!
we had an amazing experience at trattoria emilia, food devine, really good customer service..
Beautiful spot. Amazing service. I highly recommend.
This is one of the great places in the CBD for a meal - it has a nice combination of being cosy, authentic and slightly fancy. It was a great venue for our business lunch.
The food was great but the only thing was the service - the waiter was impatient and seemed annoyed that we didn't make decisions or order food/drink at the pace she wanted. Hopefully it was just an off day and I'll go there again to give it another chance before removing it from my recommended list.
I chose Trattoria Emilia for its proximity to my client's office, not having ever heard of it nor the apparently famous bakery that preceded it, or the tiny lane it's situated in. The food was authentic, regional Italian and delicious, far exceeding my expectations. My choice of a modest Tuscan red proved exceptional and even the bread was exemplary. Staff were professional, non-intrusive and happily let us stretch our lunch/meeting into a fourth hour. The ambience was busy but warm and the noise factor fairly tolerable.
Great food, great atmosphere. Would recommend for any occasion including a group.
Fantastic service and a beautiful setting! Food was excellent! Loved it!
Really rude and sloppy service, food ordinary in flavour, had to wait ages to even get parmesan cheese.
Excellent food although the menu is somewhat limited in choice.
Good food, great service overall an enjoyable experience for us.
No era lo que esperábamos. La recepcionista te atiende con mala cara y peor humor. La comida está bien, aunque con combinaciones medio raras.
Everything was perfect. Have already recommended to friends. Such a beautiful space and awesome food and staff
Great Italian food awesome staff
Worth a try very authentic
Excellent food at reasonable prices. The 5 course tasting menu was good value.
Amazing atmosphere down an alley off Little Collins in an old factory-like space. Great food and friendly service. Reeks of real Emilio Romagna Italian flavor!
We were visiting Melbourne and decided on this place based on its proximity to our hotel and it being Italian. The room had character but was spoilt by the ugly fluorescent lighting emanating from the open kitchen. The food was good, though not remarkable, and the service was rather curt. Eat here only if you want to be in the area.
Overall the experience was great though the attitude of the person serving us was really de and non attentive!!!
I thought the food was mediocre. We adore Italian food, but we were disappointed that the spanner crab spagetti appeared not to have any spanner crab. It had an over powering taste of a salty dried roe which just wasn't to our liking. We then shared a tiramisu...quite unusual and not at all what we were expecting. Unfortunately for us, the food just wasn't very appealing. On the bright side, the bread served up at the start of the meal is some of the most delicious ever.
Unwelcoming, poor and forgetful service which put a negotiate spin on the night. Definitely not the first time others diners have experienced this either.
A bit hit and miss. Our antipasti plate was great and service good, but our pasta wasn’t as much of a hot and a little overpriced. Nice ambience and decor.
Great restaurant, wonderful food & ambience, am returning for dinner tomorrow night!
