Excellent food at reasonable prices. The 5 course tasting menu was good value.
Amazing atmosphere down an alley off Little Collins in an old factory-like space. Great food and friendly service. Reeks of real Emilio Romagna Italian flavor!
We were visiting Melbourne and decided on this place based on its proximity to our hotel and it being Italian. The room had character but was spoilt by the ugly fluorescent lighting emanating from the open kitchen. The food was good, though not remarkable, and the service was rather curt. Eat here only if you want to be in the area.
Overall the experience was great though the attitude of the person serving us was really de and non attentive!!!
I thought the food was mediocre. We adore Italian food, but we were disappointed that the spanner crab spagetti appeared not to have any spanner crab. It had an over powering taste of a salty dried roe which just wasn't to our liking. We then shared a tiramisu...quite unusual and not at all what we were expecting. Unfortunately for us, the food just wasn't very appealing. On the bright side, the bread served up at the start of the meal is some of the most delicious ever.
Unwelcoming, poor and forgetful service which put a negotiate spin on the night. Definitely not the first time others diners have experienced this either.
A bit hit and miss. Our antipasti plate was great and service good, but our pasta wasn’t as much of a hot and a little overpriced. Nice ambience and decor.
Great restaurant, wonderful food & ambience, am returning for dinner tomorrow night!
Delicious regional Italian food. Great wine list with rare finds!
An excellent evening of food and wine which impressed our Sydney guest. Emilia is a worthy recipient of a Chef's Hat !!
I went there for a family dinner as my parents were over from Adelaide, I had been there for my birthday six months ago and really enjoyed there dining experience. This restaurant has great food and amazing service thanks.
Food was great. service was bad we didn't get our sides or desserts we ordered
We dined here for my wife's 50th birthday with our two daughters. Lots of ambience and good wine selection. The Salumi e Gnocco Fritto (flash fried gnocchi, cured meats and pate) was delicious as was the fresh baked house bread ( they gave us a complimentary loaf to take home). The staff were warm, relaxed and friendly. A great night.
We had eaten here before, and the food had been wonderful. On this occasion, nobody had anything interesting. Each of our mains had a load of interesting ingredients, but everything appeared to be mush.
Expensive mush. Not sure why the menu has gone downhill, but Emilia is off our list now :-(
food quality is terrible, needs to wait long time in between courses
We shared a few entrees and had a main each. The plates were generously portioned and nicely presented. Staff were lovely and very attentive. Will definitely be back!
Absolutely beautiful, authentic and warm restaurant with exceptional service and exquisite food. Very beautiful ambience, highly recommend for a night with good friends.
We had an excellent meal at Trattoria Emilia. We had zucchini blossoms, gnudi and and another pasta dish. All were well prepared with the freshest tasing ingridients. Our tag team wait staff was terrific. Highly recommend next time you feel like an authentic Italian meal
we thoroughly enjoyed our meal here - the second time we have been. The staff are friendly, attentive and informative and the food and wine offerings are delicious. Would highly recommend whether on a date or part of a larger group.
We have been going here annually for a number of years now (it was Gill's Diner when we started). This year we had someone with food allergies in our party. The attention to detail and understanding of her situation was exceptional. As always the food was wonderful. A terrific evening!!
After reviewing different Italian restaurants we decided to give Trattoria Emilia a go
We definitely made the right choice. Service was great and extremely amiable. Food was outstanding and the fresh baked bread was terrific. It had a nice vibe to the restaurant atomosphere and I would definitely return again
Authentic, well prepared food at a reasonable price. Bread baked on premises, house cured salumi, risotto and fresh pastas all were delicious. Will definitely return on our next visit to Melbourne.
Everything was great. The food was delicious, service impeccable and the atmosphere was on point. Definitely would recommend !
The food was fantastic but the service was terrible, it took 30mins just to get an aperitif then the waitress was pushing us to order. She was not too helpful and indifferent. Most of the staff were running around like headless chickens. Such a shame as the restaurant is lovely
Great Italian food from Emilia-Romagna
Like Being at home in Australia!!
Amazing feel to the restaurant and the staff are great. The food is up there with the best Italian in Australia.
Fabulous Italian food and generous service. Can recommend the antipasto to start, that we shared , and then the gnocchi and risotto . Delicious bread made on site. Warm ambiance. A lovely night.
Everything about Trattoria Emilia is just wonderful!
The staff are professional and friendly & always make us feel at home!
The chefs are amazingly talented and experienced. Every dining experience here has been different and equally as excellent as the last.
A hidden little gem! A must for everyone!
We have eaten here often. Always terrific. Ask for a table in the corner between the bar area and the main dining room as is much quieter.
We had the summer tasting menu which was excellent.
Honestly everything was good but the portion size of the octopus dish. 1 small thin leg sliced in 2 with sauce for $22?? And when the waiter saw we were going to share she didn’t even advised that was a small dish for one person. This was the only thing I could fault from the food. The espresso at end was warm and the cup cold. Either than that everything else was ok!
Great space with a cosy European ambience. Elegant menu & wine options
Great food, great service, in a great space tucked away down a lane. Highly recommended.
Recommended by a family member. The food was fair. The bruschetta was soggy and not good. The service was good. Mateo did a great job in repairing the "damage" of the entree. Overall a reasonable evening but disappointing for our anniversary.
Excellent, we had a wonderfull dinner. Interactions with staff was just right. Love the look and feel of the restaurant. Many thanks
Great food, wine by the glass choice and service. Pretty funky location and décor.
Great food, great service. A fantastic night out for me and my wife.
The entrance is a bit off the main street and down an alley, but behind the doors is a beautiful and warm dining room. The food was incredibly delicious (we even had to try dessert despite already being so full since everything else was so good) and there was a great wine list too. The service was attentive but we were also given privacy to enjoy our meal and did not feel rushed.
Enjoyable evening. Excellent bread - baked on site at their bakery. I was pleased with the service. Good pasta.
