At Trattoria Emilia we seasonally change the menu and source a large majority of our produce from regional Victoria, our meat is organic and sustainably grown in Tasmania and we import some of the best Italian DOC products. Some dishes that are not to be missed are the Antipasti board which changes daily as well as the Tortelloni Emiliani, and don't forget to try the crowd favourite salumi e gnocco fritto with mortadella mousse (and if you have a bottle of something special bring it along Monday - Wednesday when we offer BYO!)
Rustic, yet refined, Trattoria Emilia boasts fantastic ambience, attentive and professional service whilst all the while remaining a great casual dining spot perfect for a quick lunch, a long relaxing dinner with friends and has always been a romantic date spot.
Always a great evening of good food and being looked after.
Thank you for a beautiful meal, wonderful service and a lovely atmosphere. The food was divine, especially the timarisu. I’ve never had anything like it.
I'm sad to say that my friend & I were very dissapointed with Trattoria Emilias food. Their signature dish was great but the special ravioli lacked flavour, the salad was limp with old cucumber, soft radish slices & very oily dressing that lacked acidity. Some items of the antipasto were flavorless. The top layer of the fries were fine but under that they were very oily & inedible They did take the fries off our bill but we would have liked crisp fresh fries. I understand Emilias had a 2 hat a couple of years ago but the quality of the food has deteriorated a lot. We loved the ambience. Before my friend arrived I was at a table right under a fan and uncomfortable. The waitress' response was excellent. She readily moved me to another table that was great. During our meal the service continued to be good but as soon as the staff sat down to eat themselves, the service vanished. We weren't offered coffee, just abandoned. So we left disssatisfied.
Authentic gets overused, but this place is the real deal. It was full of Italians on our first visit - a good sign. The food was a knockout, including a GF gnocchi. Every other one I have tried before this was seriously lame. Caring, competent servers made us very welcome, and brightened our meals. The neighborhood restaurant we all wish we had!
Food was amazing. Everyone loved their food. Will definitely be back
We had a fabulous dinner....genuine Italian food. We loved the atmosphere and went back a second time on our 3 day visit to Melbourne.
It never fails to be a terrific restaurant to take friends to.
We started with the octopus: tender, good saucing. Mains duck: excellent, slightly sweet sauce and simple vegetables ..good colours, textures etc. Lamb was good but a bit fatty. Drank and enjoyed the Sangiovese.
Excellent service and delicious food. I would definitely recommend it!
Excellent food, good wine list, friendly and attentive staff. A lovely dining experience.
Food simple and delicious. Great service and loved the venue.
Savoured every mouthful. Wonderful food and will be back.
Just excellent! Everything made fresh and from scratch. The chefs are from Emilia and use their nonna's recipes and the very best ingredients. Absolutely authentic.
Flavours are perfectly balanced and portions are generous.
We had: bread and focaccias and extra virgin olive oil, salumi board with gnocco fritto and tigelle, vitello tonnato, tagliatelle al ragu, tortellini modenesi, tortelli al ragu di anatra, lemon sorbet, tiramisu, chocolate and hazelnuts mousse. Absolutely divine!
My husband and I are foodies and we were born and raised in Italy. We brought there my parents who are visiting from Italy.
Pleasing us with italian food is not an easy task but they left us speachless and 100%satisfied!
Thanks Trattoria Emilia! Well done!!!
Great authentic food, the sharing plate for the pork roast was really generous & the waiter was happy to organise appropriate size entrees for a table of 3. Loved the wine list, great range including very affordable choices. Not noisy, could actually hear each other, very nice. We'll be back.
Wonderful hidden gem!
Will absolutely be back, and will send all my hotel guests there.
Your service was wonderful as was the food. Nothing was too much trouble and we loved your man from Mexico...he is amazing! Thank you for a wonderful night...loved every moment
Fabulous, high quality food and service - it's one of my favourite Italian restaurants. They use outstanding quality produce and create fresh, beautiful dishes (especially the pasta), every time. The restaurant feels cosy and the staff are informed, not overbearing, and were able to make excellent food/wine recommendations. Highly recommend!
The staff had good knowledge of both the menu and the wine list
I love it here, one of my favourite spots. The food was awesome as always. Thank you xx
Wonderful seasonal Italian that is at once traditional while steering clear of any cliches.
As always, Trattoria Emilia did not disappoint. Fantastic food and service.
Really beautiful and authentic northern Italian cuisine, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back to Melbourne to visit Trattoria Emilia again
The Chef’s selection was great, very friendly staffs and very knowledgeable on the food. Great guest experience
Mi plato que era un risotto con mariscos tenía pocos mariscos y sin sabor
The service and food were amazing! Great location and easy to find. Do yourself a favour and check this place out, you won’t be disappointed
The food was great food and wonderful service. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The food was excellent, the ambience is gorgeous and the the staff very friendly and attentive. My favourite Italian restaurant in Melbourne!
Had a lovely time here. Ambiance was fantastic. Food was of a high quality, particularly loved the hazelnut and dark chocolate mousse. Will come back another time! Thank you :)
What a delicious meal. Our entire party loved the food. I will definitely be back on a future visit to Melbourne
Great little restaurant. Food was really good, and reasonably priced.
Good venue for business lunch.
Nice food and good wine list.
Food and service very good, a shame that everyone left early! We were the last ones there by 9:30pm. Other than that a great meal and service was brilliant.
Portions are tiny. Food is very tasty though. And great ambience.
Trattoria Emilia is consistently good. We have had many meals here over the last two years and have never been disappointed. Each seasonal menu, and the daily specials, has provided some memorable dishes. We have introduced the restaurant to a number of our friends/work colleagues and their feedback has always been positive.
Food was average but over seasoned. Trying a bit too hard.
Great service by extremely knowledgeable staff. Excellent wine list of mostly Italian wines. Dishes are mostly simple but well cooked. Would definitely return.
Amazing quality! Truly authentic.
Gnocco fritto, tigelle and salumi board were sooo yummy and their tortelloni and cappellacci just divine!
The environment, locale, food, wine list all first class and great value.
We have been to Trattoria Emilia several times and have loved everything about it. On Saturday we went there to celebrate 3 very special birthdays. While the wait staff were generally very helpful and polite one of them literally slapped the bill on our table after we asked for it and did likewise with the pay facility. No words at all. Very rude.
But what really annoyed us was the 'antipasto platter'. We have thoroughly enjoyed each little taste sensation in the past. But this time it looked like they had scraped the bottom of the fridge for any left overs they could find - all slapped onto individual plates instead of onto a beautiful breadboard which we were expecting. Some scabby beetroot dip, tiny slices of spinach pie, some sort of pickled vegetable, small slices of veal or beef covered in white sauce, and slivers of pate with some tough as nails, tooth destroying crisps. It was nothing like we were expecting, barely conforming to what is commonly regarded as an Italian antipasto platter. At the time I actually thought I must have been in a Lebanese restaurant with the beetroot and spinach pie. At roughly $26.00 plus an extra $14 per person the 'antipasto platter' was an insult to our hip pocket nerves. Thankfully, the main meals were quite nice, although my seafood ravioli was somewhat bland.
After building up the hopes of my daughter and her boyfriend we were disappointed and embarrassed that Trattoria Emilia failed to deliver the wonderful food and service experience we had promised them. Not sure that we'll ever go back. Pity, the wine waiter at the bar does a great job and is lovely.
From the time you walk in you know this is going to be great!
Amazing food and great service!
