Seated promptly. Nice menu selection! Party of 4 & we all cleaned our plates!! Very good-highly recommend!
Pasquale, the owner always makes us feel like special. My sister is lactose intolerant, he made absolutely sure that her dish was prepared to meet her needs.
Fabulous in every way.
Authentic ITALIAN experience - right here in Fairfield County.
Pasquale knows how to run a restaurant. The food is always fresh, tasty and the service is outstanding. Pasquale always makes it a point to walk around and greet all his guests.
All the food was exceptional, however, the service is very slow. Our cocktails came 35 minutes after we ordered and it wasn't even busy yet at that point. Our drinks were very weak and small, almost tasted watered down. Our waitress was very nice but also took forever to take our orders. Need to work on more staff and better service as well as an experienced bartender. Would go again for the exceptional homemade food and pastas.
Our Sunday dinner at Trattoria 'A Vucchella exceeded our expectations. The food, especially the homemade pasta, was so fresh and delicious. This is truly an authentic Italian restaurant that will not disappoint. Pasqaule was a great host and I cannot wait to go back. If you are in the mood for a home cooked Italian meal complimented by great service and good wine, you must try this place in Bridgeport, CT!
Amazing staff .. friendly.. attentive .. great suggestions. Perfect wine list .. very affordable. Large portions, took home everything and we are very happy and definitely going back. A true gem.
We live out-of-state and were in the area on business and pleased we chose Trattoria 'A Vucchella. The food and service were very good. Would recommend to anyone in the Bridgeport area.
Everyone enjoyed....great place for dinner before seeing show!
The overall experience is consistently welcoming and pleasantly predictable. It is always nice to have a maitre 'de as attentive and caring as Pasquale.
There seems to be no bad choices on the menu!
We happened upon this little gem accidentally and was greeted by the owner Pasquale, a warm and kind gentleman. We sat at the bar while waiting for our reservation time and immediately felt at home. We talked with him and something he said stood out - "There are no customers, only family and guests" and we truly felt like a guest in his "home" The food was outstanding, each delectable bite was a bit of heaven. We will be going back.
This is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere in Fairfield County. We come from Westport because the food is phenomenal, service is fab and has a great eclectic ambience with local art in the walls. A great value as well. Love the wine list too.
Love it!!!!! Very accommodating! Table for 8 by the window! Very comfortable and food was beautiful!
Very nice place, will definitely return. Food was very good, ambiance had a nice family feel to it. All meals delivered together and cooked as ordered.
I can see some comments about service, ours was pretty good but definitely slowed down once the restaurant got busier. Also, pet peeve, cleared plates ongoing vs waiting until all finished but overall a very good experience.
Love the ambience, the wine selection, and the great selection of food. It’s a very cozy restaurant, and the staff are so pleasent, always.
Lovely dining experience. Delicious food and drink.
Never disappointing. Food is fresh, flavorful and authentic.
It is great to have such an authentic and high-end (appearing!) Italian restaurant in downtown Bridgeport, when too many of the great restaurants in the area are in Westport or Fairfield. At the same time, TaV is warm, welcoming, and very reasonably priced.
Definitely a new neighborhood favorite for us!
Perhaps my favorite restaurant in the area, and I saw from the crowd that it has been discovered! Don’t let the location put you off:it is in a cozy, quiet corner with no worries about parking. The food is wonderful and there is usually a long list of specials. We started with the generous serving of antipasto. I had the grilled branzino with broccoli rabe and roasted potatoes. They had the New York strip with arugula and the meatballs with a side of spaghetti and ragu. The wine list is fairly extensive for a small place, and the Primitivo was superb, no taste of tannins and a smooth finish. The portions are generous and the service is always excellent. The owner is charming, warm and friendly and he shared his own homemade limoncello after our meal. They pride themselves on letting you relax and not pushing the check on you. A Vucchella is always a great experience...and a very good value.
Pasquel was a gem and guided us through the menu and an excellent wine selection. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals of paparadelli, fish and gnocchi. The calamari looked under cooked yet it was cooked to perfection and there was so much we could not finish the appetizer between 3 of us. Too full for dessert. My 3 friends were very impressed as it was their first time there. We will all gladly go back again. Bon appetito
No ambiance whatsoever. Had no idea who our server was for around 15 min. The waiter was some skinny dude with an Italian accent who didnt seem to keen on how to converse properly. He was dressed like he was going out to a club after he got off work. No owner ever came over to bring us "lemoncello" or for any other reason. They were playing Stevie B dance music for God's sake! What kind of "authentic" Italian restaurant plays Stevie B!? They brought okay bread and tbe kid poured about a tablespoon of olive oil onto a plate, as if the olive oil had gold flakes in it and they couldnt possibly leave it on the table for us to dole out as we wish. I had to ask for salt and pepper. Weird. When the food came I simply looked at my wife and she knew exactly what I was going to say. I honestly thought it was a mistake. I ordered the gnocchi special for dinner and it was served in a soup bowl. For reference I held my hand over my dinner and was able to cover the meal completely, like some magician on Americas got Talent. The gnocchi were decent, made correctly, but due to cooking it in a bowl with bacon jowls tje3 wholw meal, all 4 ounces of it, was very greasy. Total disappoinment. Waste of money. I've been to Rome, Florence, Naples and North Boston where I have had real Italian cuisine. This restauraunt is a far cry from those restaurants, and is probably not even among the top Italian restaurants in Bridgeport. Those dingbats who write online reviews of this place claiming it's food is comparable to food in Italy are, I would wager, psuedo foodies in their 60s and 70s whose taste buds habe been so decimated by age that they think boxed Barilla pasta with cubed Spam is the best meal they have ever tasted since the great depression. Needless to say, I will not be going back to Trattoria al Vucchello. Or whatever Italian sounding name they chose to name the restaurant to try and give it some legitimacy.
You may drive by it. You may say "Bridgeport, I'm not eating there." If you do, you're missing out.
Pascual does a great job, wonderful dishes! I recommend any gnocchi dish on the menu.
When ordering wine, be very clear on which brand you want
Great food, great service, beautiful venue - I'm very happy with A'Vucchlla.
We had an excellent meal here. The staff are very friendly, the atmosphere was great, a very diverse clientele. I had the spaghetti carbonara which was delicious although a little heavy on the guincale for my personal taste. My husband had the seafood risotto which was outstanding.
Great food and great service, but the wine selection was a little disappointing.
We needed a restaurant near the ferry that was open at an odd time (3:30). This one was and we took my mother-in-law there for her birthday. However, we had hoped to get some pizza and paninis, but the person who made pizza wasn't there. They should state online that the person who makes pizza and paninis is not there at certain times during the day so that people can choose a restaurant accordingly. We ate other food and it wasn't bad, just not my first choice for Italian in the area.
This is my favorite Italian restaurant. The owner Pasquale, is very attentive, always makes sure we are taken care of. The food is excellent and good value. A great combination food equality, service and value
Food was decent but the service was atrocious. Took forever to place our order, food was delivered to the wrong table so they had to remake it, and we had 3-4 people waiting on our table of only two. Not really sure who our waiter or waitress was. Sitting at the bar might be a better option.
Amazing, authentic food, friendly & personable staff, perfect date night spot, hidden gem! Our first visit we sat at the bar, second we sat at one of the tables along the window - was never empty but also never too crowded! The homemade pasta was fantastic and so was the soup
The food is amazing, the service is perfect and the owner is warm and accommodating.
Great service. Delicious Food. Loved the eggplant appetizer and can't wait to order it again.
A gem on Fairfield Ave. in Bridgeport...
This was the 3rd or 4th time visiting Trattoria A'Vucchella. We obviously have liked the food there. This time it was a little off & we understand it happens. The restaurant was 1/3 - 1/2 full and a large party came in shortly after we did. The staff was moving tables around & accomodating them that the others (us) were slow to get a 2nd round of beverages. And then, we waited to get the check. When you are spending $100 or more, on dinner - service makes a difference.
The best by far authentic Italian cuisine in Fairfield country. Always accommodating, friendly, professional & delicious food!!!
Food was great. Portions were a little small. Options on the mean were fresh
It was a pleasant experience.
Homemade pasta dishes were very good.
Nice local spot.
Food was amazing!
We were staying in Fairfield, CN and picked the restaurant from a short list of restaurants. We were so impressed with the friendly atmosphere and the excellent service.
We have already recommended the restaurant to four friends who live in the area.
