My wife and I were there recently for my birthday dinner, and we had a lovely experience. I particularly enjoyed the soup du jour, a cucumber-avocado soup, served chilled and garnished with crab meat -- a delicate balance of flavors and textures. Nice bistro-type ambiance made for good people watching, yet it wasn't so noisy that we couldn't carry on a conversation. Nice place.
Fabulous lunch at Toulouse! I enjoyed the salad special of chicken over arugula with a lovely balsamic dressing. The patio is lovely since it’s enclosed and cool during the hot summer months but makes you feel like you’re dining outside.
Great food and excellent service.
The trout amandine was lovely as were the vegetable melange accompaniment. The Nicoise salad was just as it should be. The thin Apple Tart and the grand marnier souffle also hit the mark. Our server was attentive, but a bit quick to remove plates (before everyone was finished).
Cafe Toulouse is our go to restaurant for delicious food. The food and service are consistently superb. Our server during this most recent visit was pleasant but not overly amicable. When I would request something he would happily comply, but his facial expressions indicated otherwise. The food was great and we will definitely return!
Someone got engaged behind us and it was really cool!
Whenever in Dallas we always make a point of going to Toulouse for dinner. The service and the food is exceptionally good. It's a very pleasurable place to go for lunch or dinner!
Service is excellent. Our server was attentive but not overbearing. The maitre de was warm and welcoming and sincerely grateful for our visit.
Unfortunately, the food quality has not improved from our last visit several years ago. Drinks were disappointing. My old fashioned had way too much ice and a lack of depth of flavor. We had a beet and goat cheese salad that was the highlight of the meal, however the strawberries were not fresh. This was to be a consistent theme throughout the meal. Our main courses were a bouillabaisse and a pan fried branzino. The bouillabaisse has clams, mussels, scallops, shrimp, and two types of fish. There was plenty of seafood, but it just tasted bland. The best part of the branzino dish were the pan fried fingerling potatoes.
And all of this was had for just shy of $150 (including tax and tip). For the prices we were charged, we expected better. I feel Toulouse is resting in its past laurels and needs a total revamp.
We love Toulouse! The food was great, the service was impeccable, and they made my wife's birthday something special. The French onion soup was by far the best I have ever had..even better than my own version.
Everyone's meal was spot on! The Shrimp Louise, the hamburger, the Toulouse Chopped Salad-added shrimp, and the tagilleria pasta with chicken were all very good. I had the Toulouse chopped salad and loved the combination of the herb vinaigrette with the hearts of palm. Our waitress went the extra mile to make are we had everything we needed from ketchup for the burger to cocktail sauce for the shrimp to making sure the dressing did not have too many carbs. Our dining experience was wonderful, comfortable, and relaxing. Our meals were all very good and we would recommend Toulouse to anyone.
It was our 14th anniversary. This was in the special instructions and also mentioned before we were seated.
We were seated at a very nice round table by the window and dripping ac. The water was periodically dropping behind me. I was dressed in a silk dress and I had to move the table forward. We were offered to move 20 minutes after but we decided to stay as our appetites arrived.
Then we saw how other tables had deserts with the bengai type of a candle for celebration. Our deserts arrived without anything. The waiter didn't make a connection of overdressed couple who were cheering with glasses all evening.
The food was very tasty, wine selection very limited, service was below average.
Most likely I will not recommend for a special occasion. Rise #1 is certainly much better.
This was an special occasion, birthday celebration, and was noted when making the reservation and when we arrived. The maitre d asked if this was a special dinner and we confirmed it was. Our waiter never asked not was anything additional or special provided. Was disappointing.
We loved the service - very nice, accommodating, friendly. A couple of minor issues with the food - the Onion Soup had too much cheese and not enough onions, and my salad had some pieces of old lettuce that seemed to be past their due date. Other than that, everything was very good. Great selection of wines. We will definitely come back - especially because the service was so good.
Wonderful lamb special!
From the moment we walked in we were greeted right away by the manager and let immediately to our table. We were given a create table inside. Waiter and service was fantastic, the restaurant was not too busy, which was great, and the noise level was probably just below moderate. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the Grand Marnier Soufflé was one of the best deserts I’ve ever had. New favorite restaurant in Dallas for sure, can’t believe I had never been there before.
Birthday dinner. Awesome food and wine. We had the seafood and ribs. Very good flavor. Desserts were to die for. Create brûlée and soufflé. Noise level low. No children in restaurant. Only adults.
Went for a special occasion but the food was just mediocre. Will be going somewhere else next time
I went once for lunch and was extremely happy with the meal I had and service. I went back with my kids and the food was unfortunately mediocre for a French person point of view. IT was good but nothing special. I was disappointed definitely because I wanted for my kids to have a wonderful experience. The service was good and Friendly. The atmosphere was also very good . Over priced since we did not think the food was great.
Excellent meal. We loved the cheese tray. Duck and the salad were excellent. Service was very nice.
A semi forgettable generic French bistro Toulouse hits on all the expected French notes but generally underwhelmed. Like a B- student it did what was expected, but nothing more, in may ways relaxing into 1980s French restaurant tropes. Dimly lit semi French ambiance. Check. Overly large but not terribly interesting wine list with 2/3 French imports? Check. Mussels and frites, escargot, soufflé, beef Bourgogne, French bred, and something A’ L’orange? Check check check, check and check. Totally acceptable, non-offensive, but also non interesting.
The restaurant has become worn and dirty where once it was bright and shiny. Styrofoam cups and dirty glasses lined up behind the glass partition so the silhouette was something out of a gas-station back room. Wood walls were scratched and torn up where the table adjoined. Floor was dirty. Marble table top dull and worn. The service was adequate. Food was good enough. Bar lacked: Vodka tonic was weak and soda had no bubbles. Sidecar was sweet and syrupy. Overall, I felt like I was in an old, run-down, nondescript bar/bistro. They need to spend some of the profits to re-furbish the place and the staff needs to be upgraded or better trained/managed - until then, I won't go back. I'll miss the old Toulouse.
The food and service are always on point Venue is perfect for date night or brunch with girlfriends. Our/my “go to”....❤️
Favorite spot for Sunday afternoon, brunch, or any day for excellent food and service.
The special salad was epic!!!!
Wonderful food and great service! Highly recommend.
Absolutely over the top ! Everything was wonderful. From the before dinner drinks to the soufflé and espresso it was truly a French experience!
Love Toulose. A family favorite. Food was delicious that other night but service felt rushed. Server didn't go over specials and seemed in a hurry the entire evening. Still love this place and will return.
The food and service is always great at Toulouse.
The only issue was flies, I think because the door stays open.
Sacré bleu! The short ribs were dry and the portions overly dainty.
Service was excellent, food was amazing as always - probably one of my favorite spots! Trout was outstanding.
One of my favorite places to eat in Dallas.
Delicious every visit and great service and management.
Religious experience, highly recommend the duck!
Our wait staff was amazing. I can’t remember her name but she was from Long Island. Excellent service and food! Thank you!
Lisa gave us exceptional service. Thank you Lisa.
the chef needs to learn how to fix a correct Croque monsieur. it is not a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. the recipe is specific in its ingredients. If you are going to offer it on the menu then it must be prepared correctly. very disappointing.
Waiter and manager great at addressing taste concerns. New chef; fish and onion soup were HORRIBLE!!! Soufflé was under cooked.
Returned to this restaurant after several years. Regularly dine at sister restaurant Bistro 31. We were seated by a table under an aging AC unit. After both my wife and I had condensation drip onto us and the table we asked to move. Maitre D responded it was an old building but did move us. As I started to sit at the second table, I started to slip on an oily substance which happened to be olive oil on the hardwood floor. Table had just been cleaned but no one thought to check under the table. Food was good, wait staff tried to make up for poor start. Meal for three with with a $65 bottle of wine was $300. Better options for my taste.
Great service; mediocre food. Sauces are great; produce and seafood need to be of better quality.
One of our favorite places for dinner or weekend brunch. We have never had a bad meal or experience at Toulouse! Highly recommend!
