We had hoped to have a great Mexican flavored dinner.....this fell far short of our expectations.....
My friend's husband had several Mexican restaurants in another city and I live in Southern CA....I guess we should not try to do Mexican in New York....
Food was good, the waiter was nice
However the noise was outrageous.
We couldn’t hear ourselves speak.
One other thing- we had a 8:30 reservation and were not seated till 9:30
Really great experience and delicious food! I recommend it!
Amazing, fresh, different! Love this place.
Super solid and creative Mexican food. Service is always outstanding.
The food was fantastic and their margaritas were scrumptious as well. Our server was very sweet and friendly. My only complaint was the noise level! Part of this was the fault of other diners who were loud. But they forced us to speak louder too so the noise escalated. I thought it would be quieter on a Monday evening.
Great food, great service for a decent price.
Two main courses arrived cold, and therefore marked down. Once sorted then food was great but really poor service to send out food to be served when not properly cooked. Could be great but was disappointed.
Toloache is a family favorite when we’re in the Theater District, and has never let us down: very friendly crew, and many delicious dishes, from mild to wild! (It is a bit tight on space, and the noise level’s pretty high, so do factor that in if any in your party are particularly sensitive to those, er, ‘features’!)
Wicked & dinner!
Food was very good. Service was confusing. We had five servers and asked for drinks at least twice. Not sure we were asking for right person. That said, the food was delicious!
Good food and service. The cocktails are good as well.
We hd the tacos of suadero and the cactus fries. The tacos were good a bit salty. The cactus fires were ok. (I love cactus).
The wait staff was helpful and extremely friendly. Both dinners were beyond delicious. I highly recommended the 16 layer crepe dessert!
Excellent food. The ceviches were delicious! Will definitely come back.
Everything was great and the guacamole was amazing. Felt a little rushed and the tables were really close together.
Great experience! Delicious food!
Great spot.. close to theaters ..really good food and service was very good
Caveat: If you are in midtown and need to stay in midtown to see a show or play, then by all means go here for a nice meal and decent drinks. The price is not great for what you get, but this is the theater district so you have to factor in location. I would never choose to go here unless I was doing so for proximity. We had lobster tacos and chicken quesadilla with a side of guac and chips, plus a beer and cappuccino. It was about $35 each, which is ludicrous until you remember you're basically in the most over priced part of the island. Go here if you're hard up for Mexican food and you're about to see a show, otherwise better/cheaper options abound.
Good late night spot - but don't think the food was as good as the location on the UES. Found the Guacamole a bit watery and loose and the tuna cerviche not as well sliced as had before.
That being said, it was a fine dining experience for the location and time.
Absolutely delicious food, especially the tacos OMG Devine!
The guac and tacos are amazing. specialty margaritas are delicious although a bit pricy. A great place to eat before or after a show. This is our go to place when in NYC theater district.
Everything was perfect! Food, taste and quality but We noted in our open table reservation we were celebrating a birthday- nothing was done:(
Excellent food and good value. Right next door to theatres!
Food was amazing and everything tasted so good. The portion is small though. The servers were nice but very slow...took a little too long to grab a check...
The food was amazing. Our server was excellent. He gave wonderful food and drink suggestions. We will definitely return when we are in the area.
Service was just ok
While the restaurant was going to get busy. It was not when we arrived. Even so, the entire service was rushed. We had a 430 reservation for a show that started at 7. No need to rush except perhaps to fit in more tables. We did not stay more than our allotted hour. While the food is good, it’s not revolutionary. And yet the prices are expensive for what you get. Granted we did not order extravagantly as we were not starving, but it was crazy expensive for what we did order. We were not there to save $$. But we were also not there to fritter it away. It was our second time dining there. Don’t think we will return any time soon.
Excellent food. Not your typical filler of beans and rice. Descriptions of food sound higher and, but ultimately comes down to the taste, which was excellent. We had cocktails, appetizers, mains, and desserts. Did not disappoint.
Fantastic food at reasonable prices and so convenient if you are headed to a show. The guacamoles (all three) are incredible! We loved this restaurant so much we came back twice in four days!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. I am from out of town and have been here a few times. I took some NYC natives with us this time and they now have it on their go-to list. The people running the restaurant (including waiters) couldn't be nicer and accommodating and the food and drinks are fabulous. It is how every restaurant in NYC should be...but isn't.
I’ve been to this restaurant a few times now and it never disappoints. The food. The drinks. The atmosphere. Even when I was the one to make a mistake in ordering they took full responsibility and rushed to bring me the correct meal! Can’t wait to go back
Food and drinks really good. (Apps/sides priced a little high in comparison to entrees?)
Service is exceptional!
Fun place with terrific food!
Although pricey for the portion, it was the Best Mexican food I’ve ever eaten.
Wonderful service and food was ok. Little pricey for what it was.
Wonderful Mexican flavors, refined. Love the creativity of bar and kitchen, with excellent service. Thanks for making my birthday feel special!
The restaurant is high energy, but the two levels help diffuse noise. Tables are somewhat crowded together. The food was superb. We had a vegetarian paella and a roast chicken breast with corn and tomatoes. Both were really tasty and interesting. We started with a guacamole made with certain fruits. This was a real find.
Hi - we arrived on time for our 12:30 reservation- ordered the prefix and had to beg for our check and dessert course at 1:50 ! We had informed th waiter that we have show tickets for a 2 pm show .
