Headed by Jason Ang (ex Gilt Lounge and Sokyo) and bar manager Yoshi Onishi (ex Stitch and Victoria Room), Tokyo Bird combines the best of Tokyo’s yakitori-ya and classic cocktail bars in an intimate Sydney laneway small bar.
We were placed in the cafe side not the main restaurant which lost the ambience of the restaurant
Very little menu and very small servings
What a welcome back to hospitality - great food, drinks and service. Will definitely be back!
My favourite place in the town. Been going there for long time now. The service is extremely good. I always take my my friends there whenever they come to visit me in Sydney.
Thanks guys. My boss loved it on Saturday night. Especially the current menu offerings and cocktails. Thanks again and thanks to Chris.
See you again soon!
Only 1/3 of the menu was available which we weren’t previously told. So we were disappointed when our only options were ramen or sandwiches.
Great place to go for a date or to catch up with friends.
Was overall very good, currently they don’t have the full menu and was a bit disappointing
Food and cocktails were fantastic, our table had a great night. Service could of been a little quicker as we had to call for service a few times and being a bigger booking thought that would of been a given. Will come again as really liked the vibe and the drinks menu is amazing.
Great evening at atmosphere- amazing whiskey selection. Will definitely go back
Great place with lovely ambiance. Delicious food flavours, although chicken was too over cooked for me. Top class experience though.
Cosy Japanese bar with great drinks and food. Highly recommended.
A classy relaxed environment for fine drinks and light meals. Best for groups
Tucked in Surry Hills. Short walk from Central Station. Worth going for the skewers. Huge selection of drinks to suit anyone
Great small bar with good variety of bar snacks for small gathering
Food amazing, outstanding selection of whiskey. Peggy - the waitress was attentive, genuine and accommodating. Highly recommend for an intimate dinner or catch-up.
Been there 4 times, never disappoints except for the hangovers.
One of my all time favourite bars.
This is my review: it was good..........................................................
Great service, friendly welcome, nice vibe, a whisky drinker’s dream and delicious food! Boom!
Great atmosphere, good food atmosphere. Try the scallop ceviche and gyoza
Nice place, but the teppanyaki grill in the open kitchen fills the room with smoke and you leave smelling a bit like an ashtray.
cocktails were fantastic, food tasty , great title bar
Great food, service and vibe! We enjoyed our ladies night out here and will definitely come back again for more!
Outstanding experience. Many thanks to Chad and Andrew for the amazing service and drinks
Would highly recommend the Smoked Hunter. Food was very good.
Very cool vibe and friendly staff. Mostly serving drinks - huge whiskey menu
Just a fun vibe and delicious food.
Great food and something for all in cocktails. Japanese whiskies expensive but will try a whisky flight next time
Cool vibe. Had a fun time. Table service was slow but fine if you were there for a chat.
We've been to Tokyo Bird a few times now and it never fails to impress. A small but very friendly space, quirky, the staff are always great and you can relax in safe hands. The menu is quite short, but everything on it is a taste treat. The Japanese whisky selection is huge but they're rather expensive unless you're a connoisseur, which we are not. We swapped to Japanese beer and Scotch/Bourbon. Altogether a great evening out on a wintry night.
Great yakitori. Excellent selection of Japanese and other whiskies. Good place to meet up with a couple of friends.
Great place! Great nibbles and drinks. Loved it! Had a few drinks, staff were good. Place was comfy. Fantastic experience.
It's my go-to place for amazing drinks with good company. The service is absolutely fantastic and very chill ambiance. Love it.
Food was great, cocktails were amazing! And staff were extremely friendly. I even got a free drink because it was my birthday! Great service!
One of the best late night spots in Sydney the food and drinks are on point and they are consistant the wait staff know there menus and definatly ask them for there favs as they are totally worth the adventure
Awesome little yakitori and cocktail place, with delicious food and drinks. It was my friends birthday and they went above and beyond to make it special. Will definitely go back!
Cool place, great vibe. Food was good, but I think due to a bit of a mix up it all cane out at the same time resulting in a few items getting cold pretty quickly.
Our server did apologise for this as soon as they brought it over. Service was good. Sake recommendations pleased enormously.
The chicken hearts were spot on!
Food is overpriced. A plate of 2 skewers cost $14. Recommend going if you just want to have a drink and chat with your mates but not to have dinner or else you'll end up paying the equivalent of a 3-course meal.
Tucked away in a laneway in Surry HillsnToko Bird has a feel of a Melbourne small bar and a hint of a Japanese Izakaya. Service was ok but considering the amount of staff could have been faster. Food was good and so was the beer. Great for a a few drinks and a small bite to eat just as a Izakaya should be really.
I went to Tokyo Bird for a work dinner/drinks on a Thursday night and it was fantastic. Great food, great atmosphere! Excellent selection of drinks too - sake, whisky, cocktails, beer, wine. We stayed until closing time. Will definitely return!
Like being in Tokyo. Best whisky bar in Sydney. Food is awesome. Great place.
