Went to celebrate a friend’s birthday - asked for a candle on the dessert and the waitress confirmed this was possible. This didn’t happen. They served the kingfish ceviche instead of the salmon without advising prior. Noise level was through the roof. Food was sub-par. Would not return. The only positive thing I have to say is that the waitresses were really nice.

Food was good however we had to do the set menu which we weren’t told about until we sat down. Was excited to try some things on the menu to find we couldn’t. Bit sneaky on the restaurants part.

We booked dinner for 4 thru their website (as is necessary with Covid). When we showed up they sat us and then told us "in accordance with the terms of your reservation we had available the fixed vegetarian menu. Their web site we booked off said nothing about it. The booking system as you're making the booking said nothing about it. Only when you get the reservation confirmation email buried in the "additional notes" was there reference to the booking being for their "feed me menu". They first tired to limit us to their vegetarian "feed me" fixed menu (which comprises about 10% of the dishes on their menu which is mainly seafood or meat). Then they came back and "allowed" us to order off their meat fixed menu (that did not have the dish we came for on it) but other diners in the restaurant were just ordering off the menu full stop. very off putting. The drinks were interesting and the food ok but much came to us lukewarm and the veg overcooked. interesting but not rushing back

Hi, It is unfortunate you did not have the experience your were hoping for. The temporary 'Feed Me' menu requirement is stated in the terms when booking and in a confirmation email. The vegetarian "Feed Me' is only an option we offer when requested. There is the option to add our Korean fried chicken to the 'Feed Me' but no one is ordering off the A la carte menu at the moment. We will be returning to our regular menu shortly, I hope we can see you again so can try that dish you came in for.

Extremely disappointed to show up to Tokki to only then find out there is a set menu. No choice and no notification there is not a choice of the menu. The website provides only the menu with no notice of only being offered a set menu only. Food was fine but a let down to not have been told prior and forced to may for a set menu.

Great food and atmosphere. However for $65 a head, the serving sizes weren't enough. We had to order two more servings fried chicken on top. There was 6 people

Was Looking forward to Tokki ,we had the $65 ‘Feed Me’ set menu because it was required by the establish during this time. However it was very underwhelming, the miso cucumber, pork buns, zucchini flowers and kombu salmon was ok nothing special. However the broccolini was overcooked and mushy, the roasted cauliflower was bland which seemed more boiled rather than roasted (These were dishes that resembled more of a side dish that should have came out with the platter). The BBQ platter was ok at best. The ribs were cold and the beef overcooked. The chicken was moist and was the only hot protein served on that platter. The staff were not as attentive, I also got the drinks pairing and I had get them to bring drinks out with the dishes. We had finished our mains for over 15 mins and we waited a while before we called them over to clear the table. My friend paid and he said the staff had asked if we would like to tip, there is so many things wrong with this. For dessert which was a cold apple crumble took a long time for it to be served. Overall the the only saving grace were the additional Fried chicken we order which were delicious, crispy and moist. Hopefully post covid it will improve.

Love dining at Tokki - the food is always impeccable with unbeatable flavours. Adore the overall vibe of the restaurant, especially the playlist. Find the service a bit lacklustre, but nothing unbearable.

The food at Tokki was excellent and we enjoyed everything we ordered. The three of us got the Pork Belly Kyoza (so good - recommend!), salmon sashimi, cauliflower (I usually don't like eating cauliflower but the seasoning/sauce was so good), the BBQ taster set (very tender meats with different sauces/marinades, not too much of each but enough for us to try all of them) and the original KFC (very tasty but some pieces were a little dry, it was quite a big portion so it was a bit much for 3 people). Their drinks were also really good and they have the option of you choosing flavours or fruits that you like and they can help to create a cocktail or mocktail for you.

The service was great and all the waiter/waitresses were friendly and happy to help. We had never been to Tokki before so they explained the menu to us and recommended some nice dishes for us to try. It was a birthday dinner for me and they even gave me a Yuzu cheesecake as a surprise birthday dessert which was so nice of them!!

Thank you so much, we had a great time :) We'll be back to try the other dishes on the menu!

The kingfish ceviche was amazing however the BBQ tray was okay considering the price to portion size. The Wagyu short rib was overcooked (medium-well) as we expected more of a medium rare.

The soba noodles were nice but it was more salad than noodle. Stuffed zucchini flowers are nice but on par with something you could make at home.

Service was very good, the waitress was lovely and funny.

If we were to go around i think we'd stick with ordering mostly entrees, sides and cocktails because they seemed to be the best on the menu.

Excellent Japanese Korean restaurant.
The food is fresh, delicious & surprisingly generous. A standout was the KFC & the Kingfish. I highly recommend this place 😁

Tokki was GREAT - a new fave in Surry Hills. Amazing fresh produce and epic Ceviche and Salmon Kombu was a game changer. Great service and also Korean Fried Chicken was a crispy to die for treat!

Literally everything we ordered was absolutely amazing. My wife doesn’t really like pork, however had a bite of my pork bao and I had to order another one for her. Can’t wait to come back.

Tasty food, though more green options to balance the rich meats would have been great. Service was friendly but we were kept waiting for everything from sparkling water, to cocktails, to mains and lastly had to enquire about where the salad dish was as we were almost done with the other dishes and it had yet to turn up. Fun design but desperately requiring some soft surfaces to absorb noise. Was just workable w a table of two however not pleasant. Nor was having to shout our order to the nice waitress.

The spicy edamame with truffle was AMAZING, as was the crispy prawn bao!
Few of the other dishes were a bit underwhelming including the meat platter.
Lighting is incredibly bright and music was borderline night club doof doof which explains why all the staff were "buzzing"... if you get my drift.

Easy to book online, staff were unreal - extremely accommodating and knew the menu well - but to top it off, the food was crazy - - - best fried chicken and BAO going round!
