Tipico reflects the new Italy, the Italy that’s now in Milan, the cool new vibe. Not the classic restaurant with Italian music playing and cloth on the tables. The flavours coming out of head chef Daniele Colombo’s kitchen will be relatively classic, but with some modern finesse added to the plating.
What you can expect to see alongside some classic pizzas are dishes like kingfish crudo, orange dressing and mint; battered sardines with polenta chips; or tagliatelle with spanner crab.
An Italian and Victorian centred wine list explores a variety of regions and wine makers alongside local craft beers and cocktails.
Caught up with friends for a casual Sunday night dinner, really great calamari the chocolate mousse desert is amazing!
Food and service was amazing we had an amazing meal and enjoyed ourselves. Only small complaint would be that the restaurant was quiet noisy.
Great food and amazing service. Marco made our night with his bubbly personality and talking through the menu. Would highly recommend 👍
Amazing! Great quality food and the staff are absolutely phenomenal! So warm and welcoming make you feel like you’re family
5 of us had dinner at Tipico and the restaurant was fully booked out. The atmosphere was a little loud and the lighting a bit dim, but the food and wine were great.
I especially enjoyed the pizzas and the entrees, the pasta itself was cooked perfectly but the sauces weren’t completely balanced.
I would recommended this as a place for celebration.
Food and service good as always. The wine list is somewhat limited and our usual choice was not available, which made is a little difficult at first.
Melanie the host was incredible. Great vibe! The food was unbelievable, it was the perfect place for a birthday celebration. Thank you, we will be back for sure!
The best service and fantastic food! I recommend tipico to all of my friends and clients. Will be back!
Very attentive staff, we were really pleased as Tipico is a local for us.
Very good food, mostly authentic Italian, although the menu is a little limited. Very attentive service. Food prices are OK but the wine mark-ups are on the high side. Buzzy atmosphere, though because of the hard surfaces everywhere the noise level can be bothersome when the restaurant is full.
The service was impeccable. The staff have all been clearly trained very well with consistent techniques. Pleasantly surprised on my first visit!
Great Italian restaurant. Great food, love the pasta with sardines, and the veal cotoletta. The pizza is also fantastic- look forward to coming back and just having a pizza and glass of wine at the very stylish terrazzo bar. Very good wine list- including Austrian and Italian. Exceptional service and lots of smiles.
Have been to Tipico now 3 times. Loved the atmosphere, wine and food each time. Very fresh and clean yet v tasty. Will definitely be back.
Dinner date with my son
Set menu for boozy brunch yet a table of two was served the same amount of food as our table of 3.
Wasn’t looking for anything off the bill but when I commented this to the manager he was very aggressive, saying ‘it was mistake! It was mistake!’ I was simply offering some feedback as a restaurant unless someone says something you don’t know. Poor response to the feedback, not enough food so would not recommend this restaurant.
We will be back really enjoyed our visit ,food ,wine and most of service!
Food was not great at all. Beautiful place fabulous service
We went to Tipico for the Abbuffato menu. We did enjoy ourselves. Food was lovely. Wine even better. But, for 4 people, we had food for 2 people. At $50 a head, we thought we would have a touch more food. Really, you are paying for the bottomless drinks and the food is a bonus. As I said, food was great but you need to reconsider that you are giving a table of 4 the same amount of food as a table for 2.
Food was lovely, big serves for entree’s & pizza dessert is huge, too big actually. Would be nice if there was a Champagne on offer by the glass.
Tables were too close together it wasn’t nice hearing other people’s conversations & also having a really loud person sitting right next to me spoilt the night.
I celebrated my 30th birthday with Tipico - it was a wonderful night paired with amazing food and service
We were quite disappointed in the food, nothing outstanding
Service was amazing, the beef rague, and veal cutlet was amazing !!
Always a pleasure dining at Tipico. An unpretentious establishment boasting a great wine list, authentic modern Italian food and attentive staff.
Gorgeous setting. Beautiful food. Lovely service. Awesome area
A very stylish little restaurant with a cosy feel to it. Sit at the bar if you like and watch the Bar staff create some fancy and mouth watering drinks . Great menu leaning on the traditional but with a pinch of creativity. Perfect pasta, fresh seafood, thin crust pizza and vibrant salads.. Love it
Very friendly and welcoming staff. They remember repeat customers and their preferences and are very knowledgeable about the product. Food is always fantastic - can’t get past the eggplant parmigiana and salumi pizza. Great cocktails - my favourite is the gmcp which is quite spicy. Can’t wait to go again. Staff make it a great experience every time.
Excellent service (Thanks Marco & Louie). Delicious Italian cuisine. Perfect ambiance at Tipico for those looking for a great dining experience. I highly recommend.
Crayfish pasta dish was beautiful, kingfish with orange didn't quite work, perhaps not to my palette. Staff helpful & friendly. Wine list could offer a more extensive range.
Nice food. We picked the olives, calamari, arancini balls for entree. For mains, it was split for the crab tagliatelle and beef ragu. We all agreed the crab pasta dish was ‘too fishy’ however the pasta was aldente. The beef Ravi sauce was great but the pasta was under cooked for all three of us. Other than that, atmosphere, the service was lovely.
Great pasta! Nice atmosphere.
Wow! I loved Tipico!! The food, the staff, the ambiance everything was so great! We had a really nice evening!
Dinner for 5 went seamlessly. Service and food wonderful. A bit noisy but it was a Saturday night!
Second time there and enjoyed the experience again!
We absolutely LOVED Tipico! The drinks were great, the food was delicious and it has a lovely ambient vibe. The waiters were very friendly, accommodating and well-versed on the menu. A few of our guests have dietary intolerances and they were very helpful in providing alternative options. Plus, we were pleasantly surprised with the gluten-free pizza base! Tipico serves authentic Italian cuisine and it's definitely the best Italian in the Prahran/Windsor/South Yarra area. Definitely worth the visit! And don't skip dessert - it was incredible.
Great service, super friendly and great service. Food delicious and fun.
Authentic food with great ambience and excellent service.
The food and service were just exceptional. An amazing night with a repeat a must
Yummy food, great selection of dishes, gluten free pasta was great - all delicious
We went for a family birthday dinner to Tipico, and could not have been more impressed! Fast and friendly service and delicious food and cocktails. Would recommend.
Amazing food and attentive service. We brought friends from overseas with us wanting to show them Melbourne’s best new Italian spot and they were super impressed.
