The Hotel stayed in the family until 2009 when Brad Neilson & Damien Gannon purchased it. Brad & Damien both were born and raised in Gippsland. Brad born in Traralgon and Damien in Tinamba.
They owned Neilsons Restaurant in Traralgon, which they sold early in 2008. After a short stint in St Kilda, they returned to Tinamba, taking over the Hotel in May 2009 and immediately closed it for renovations.
After 3 months of hard work, the Hotel re-opened on August 22, 2009
Great venue. Great staff.....very friendly without being annoying
Fabulous food. Great service. Very friendly and helpful staff. The dessert tasting plate was amazing.
We ordered the lamb and the scotch fillet and both were cooked perfectly. The service was very quick and the desserts were delicious. We'll certainly be back.
Such a great night, due to the attention to detail from the staff and the amazing food. Highly recommended
Food was amazing. Fresh and the combinations were yummy. I liked the menu set, you can chose from a two course or three course menu. The price for a three course meal was very affordable. There was a large function on when I went to that was a bit noisy, however we didn't have to wait long for our meals to be served. Serving sizes are good. Staff were polite and attentive. Venue building and decor is a bit run down and outdated however not a major problem. I would eat here again!
Another excellent lunch experience
Service very high standard
Only one minor complaint, closest dining table with numerous diners, Mobile phone was ringing constantly & very loud.
Everything was amazing. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Just love this place. Everything is perfect all of the time. Sid and Sam are so attentive taking notice of empty glasses and plates and making sure we had the best time. Thanks guys. Food and presentation perfect as usual ❤️
A most enjoyable lunch, & would recommend to anyone.
Quiet, personal environment with exquisitely prepared and presented food. The twice-cooked cheese souffle is a must and I can never go past the affogato for dessert.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and the beautiful meals at the Tinamba Hotel recently. We'd highly recommend the venue for anyone who values fine dining.
New to this area so first time visiting Tinamba Hotel..wont be the last.
I would definitely recommend Tinamba. Just a few small issues kept me from giving five stars. So many small things were done so well. The freshly made butter and the meringue dessert, amongst the many beautifully prepared and presented dishes, were a standout for me. Keep it simple, and do it well. 1/2
Great service and friendly staff who are happy to have a chat. The food was AMAZING! Well worth the money and such big portions.
Our group found it a very comfortable place to catch up with old friends who all enjoyed the presentation of delicious local produce. The dining room was quiet & relaxing , the staff were attentive & considerate. The lunch menu provided many tempting choices.
Tinamba Hotel is not far from Sale but was worth the drive from South Gippsland.
Looking forward to next time
Been numerous times and meals and service very good and a change to the menu as well .Highly recommend this place for quality meals.
Every time we go to the Tinamba Hotel we are never disappointed, we take our children with us and they are brilliant with the children so long as they behave!!! Can’t wait to come back again!!
Great food, great service my favourite place to dine
It was a lovely place to celebrate Valentine’s Day - great meal, great service.
Half of our entree was missed, wrong beer bought out and it was old
Food was absolutely superb and the service was as good as you see at a 2 hat restaurant. What a wonderful day.
This restaurant is an outstanding dining experience with great ambience and service.
AS always my partner and I enjoyed a delicious three-course meal accompanied by a very good, local wine.
The taste combinations in each course were diverse and beautifully matched, topped by very appealing presentation of food.
Food proportions were most generous and the owners, as well as our waitress, interacted with us in a friendly and helpful manner.
It was heart-warming to see the dining room full to capacity for lunch, with guests returning to this very special dining venue in the aftermath of the East Gippsland fires.
We look forward to our next visit.
Always a really lovely experience at Tinamba. A great catch up place with girlfriends or a lovely date with the hubby 😊
Tinamba is our favourite place to take visiting friends. The food and service is always top notch! Damien and Brad are the perfect hosts...true professionals but always welcoming and friendly. Can’t wait for our next visit 👍🏻
Enjoyed a delicious lunch with family visiting from Melb. Maffra cheese souffle is just the best and oyster shots were devoured by the boys! All mains were perfectly served - good portions and all ingredients complemented each dish. Will try to make more regular visits as fires are affecting number of visitors to the area.
Exceptional food and service. A true asset to the region. We'll be back!
Staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. The building itself is beautiful, very tastefully decorated lovely feel to the whole experience. Would definatly recommend it to everyone.
Brilliant as usual, and you impressed our visitors from Adelaide who are quite fussy!!
A beutiful dining experience. The service was attentive, the food was great and the place amazing.
Food is always amazing. Well presented & fresh: full of flavour. Service is amazing
We have dined there 3 times. Once for dinner and twice at lunch, the meal has been amazing every time. I would highly recommend Tinamba Hotel to anyone
Our meal at Tinamba Hotel was a beautiful way to celebrate daughters 30th birthday. Superb food, generous serving and artistically presented. Only criticism was waitress removed moctail glass a little prematurely. Drink was so nice we needed to savour the last sip!!
We had driven long distance to dine and meet with family. At no time did we feel pressured to leave or rush our meal. Thankyou so much for a beautiful experience that we all enjoyed and will recommend to our friends.
Great food and great hospitality. We really enjoyed our lunch with interstate friends.
Lovely place to celebrate my birthday! Have been looking forward to dining here & wasn’t disappointed. Will definitely come back and recommend coming here to anyone looking for a delicious dining experience in a divine location that is not impacted by fires! 👍
We have wanted to go since it opened with new owners. Very disappointed . Great service nice surrounds.
Ordinary menu ordinary food. Just pub fare. nothing to say anything good about.
Deliciously Outstanding !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we all went the 3 courses for $45. Fantastic value and the food was very tasty. Service was friendly. Lovely lunch had by all.
Overall good experience, we did have croquettes for entrée and they were a bit cold/frozen still but overall was amazing and would definitely go back
Delicious meal, beautifully presented. Excellent value for money with their two course special.
