Tinamba Hotel
The Hotel stayed in the family until 2009 when Brad Neilson & Damien Gannon purchased it. Brad & Damien both were born and raised in Gippsland. Brad born in Traralgon and Damien in Tinamba.
They owned Neilsons Restaurant in Traralgon, which they sold early in 2008. After a short stint in St Kilda, they returned to Tinamba, taking over the Hotel in May 2009 and immediately closed it for renovations.
After 3 months of hard work, the Hotel re-opened on August 22, 2009

It was great to be back at tinamba hotel. It has changed hands so menu different but still lovely food and wine great.
Great food, great service, very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.
Great food & service - music a bit loud for conversation - highly recommended though
Another fabulous meal at the Tinamba Hotel. If you are looking for a delicious meal, wonderful service in such a beautiful part of Gippsland then you can go no further than the Tinamba Hotel.
The only comment that I have is that we had to wait a bit of time between the entree and main course. We asked about the meals and the owner came to say that the meals were coming and he apologised for the wait.
Delicious food, excellent cocktails, friendly staff. Have dined here many times, looking forward to continuing the habit!
We are not sure what happen from our early visit, we met the new owners and had a great time food service very good, this time the food we are sorry to say was very average we were seated in the main area a group with lots of children so not conducive to a evening for a couple! we try to support all our locals but this time round it was a poor experience.
Not sure if we will return...
Fabulous slow cooked lamb the one serve of chat potatoes served three of us.Service great
Pub meals in beautifully restored pub. Lovely place for relaxed lunch.
A lovely Christmas Eve meal. The staff were friendly but occasionally a little too much with multiple people asking if we wanted drinks. A minor issue. The meal was delicious and a great selection of wine by the glass.
We went on Christmas Eve for lunch, we were welcomed with a bright smile, the service was fabulous, cheerful and welcoming, the drinks arrived quickly, we were given time to revue the menu, the food was delicious, I would recommend the Tinamba Hotel to anyone who wants something a little more special than the normal run of the mill restaurant.
Excellent three course dinner from the set menu.
Service was very good and the food was excellent.
Always a great experience at Tinamba Hotel, from great service to great food, with friendly helpful service staff :)
Excellent country restaurant.
The food was great. Highly recommended.
Christmas lunch excellent as usual. Looking forward to 2021 and many more dining experiences here at Tinamba Hotel.
Fabulous experience, they spoilt my Mum for her 75th birthday perfectly.
One of my favourite places to eat. Ambience, food and service are all faultless. It is a fair drive from where I live or I would visit more often.
Over priced, very limited menu, background music too loud. Won’t bother going there again although the service was good. Disappointed
We have been regular clients of the Tinamba Hotel. We have visited recently, and understood that the menu has changed from 'fine dining' to úpmarket pub food'. Unfortunately, the new owners are not meeting the standard which we expect. The menu was the same, but the quality was ordinary. The service was 'friendly', but that did not make up for the extremely slow service.. We had promised our guests (who had traveled over 2 hours to get there) an exemplary experience. We had to apologise to them!
I hope that the new owners appreciate the expectations of their (previously) devoted clientele, and improve their food quality and service to match.
Made the mistake of choosing steak (medium) and found it not only difficult to cut with the provided steak knife, but certainly on the chewy side rather than a soft tender meat I was looking forward to.
Friendly efficient service, entree and main served in a timely manner, not overly priced very good value.
Definitely recommend.
Great venue meals and service was wonderful can’t wait to come back
This was our second visit and hope to back again for our next special outing. The food is delicious with thoughtful wine list. Asked for window table and that’s what we got?
We had mains & dessert & it was beautiful. Very enjoyable
I've eaten at Tinamba a number of times and previous experiences have been excellent. This last experience the food was just not quite as good. The ginger prawn dumplings had tiny tasteless prawns which I might expect in a lesser establishment. The chicken with pepita seeds and cheese was dry. It is possible to cook chicken breast so that it's moist, but not on this day. I am hoping this experience was a once off and I will re-visit the Hotel. The pity of it is that I took my 91 year old mother who was visiting from Perth and I had given the Hotel such a good wrap, we were both disappointed.
Food quality good, but disappointed that charcoal grilled steak not on menu!
Just not the same ambience with the new owners which was always why we kept coming back. The food was superb but staff need some training on how to serve at the tables
Very pleasant experience, good food, good wine selection, great quiet place in the country and close to home for me.
fantastic food, lovely afternoon, enjoyed it immensely
What a totally unexpected surprise! This place punches well above its expected weight for a country hotel. Being a city worker I sure wasn't expecting food of this quality. The hotel was quieter than what it normally would be because of COVID rules but I kind of liked that. I will be back again.
Our group visits this venue at least 3 times a year and we love it
Setting was perfect, the food was lovely, definitely recommend to friends.
We had a beautiful meal and was so happy with the service. The food was amazing and I could not flaw anything about our experience here! We will definately be back
Really excellent experience. Would definitely recommend to others
We had a table for four people, I asked everyone before I began this review if they were happy with their meal, unfortunately nobody was....
The choice was very much pub food at .restaurant prices. Our food was Luke warm, the Lamb was tough, no one was really happy with their main course. However everyone enjoyed their deserts, and the service was very good..
We enjoyed every aspect of today’s visit . A wonderful way to celebrate or 50th wedding anniversary
Ron & Jan Preston
Delicious meal, prompt unobtrusive service ....perfect for birthday celebration. Very covid compliant but still good ambiance. Such a treasure for gippsland.
We had an amazing dinner at Tinamba on Saturday night. The service was wonderful, the venue beautiful and the food fantastic. Couldn’t recommend it enough. We will be back.
Disappointed at the start due to lipstick still around my glass, noting the current circumstances with C-19. I expected more!
Suggestions from the staff of preference for the Meal was spot on and we did not have to wait long.
Would recommend the 3 courses.
Fantastic night had a ball, amazing food and service
